Only the Humans

Julius smirked when he heard the ArchBishop’s declaration. He turned to the Mountain King and said, “Mountain King, we only need to tie these fools here and let our armies destroy their puny forces.” “Mhm, but it’s easier said than done.” “Don’t worry. I’ll take care of the ‘easier’ part.” Julius cut his wrist and activated his [Creation EX]. Before it was definitely impossible to do this but now, it was worth a try. “[Create: Doppelganger].” The pool of blood on the ground began stirring as it rose and quickly took on Julius’s form. It solidified to look exactly like Julius except that it was all red in color. The aura the doppelganger emitted was similar to Julius and this alarmed his enemies. However, things didn’t end here as there were still 2 more pools of blood on the ground and they similarly transformed into copies of Julius. These doppelgangers weren’t like Proto who was created and now possessed a living body but they shared some similarities. They could move autonomously since the system had planted consciousnesses in their bodies. Their strength was similar to their creator but the more of them there were, the weaker they became. To maintain a fighting strength similar to his own, the maximum doppelgangers Julius could make was only 3. Of course, if he made only 1 doppelganger, said doppelganger would have strength similar to himself.  The only thing these doppelgangers lacked was the ability to use all of Julius's skills. At most, they could only use 2 of Julius’s skills but that was enough since he only needed them to buy time until he and the dwarves’ armies destroyed the humans and the orcs. He and the Mountain King’s armies currently had the advantage since they had ambushed the two unsuspecting armies and with every enemy they killed, the stronger the fiends became. Things only snowballed until the fiends and the dwarves gained this advantage because of the fiends’ abilities to devour and assimilate their victims’ strengths and abilities. Just relying on the dwarves wasn’t going to be enough to gain this eventual outcome of their armies overwhelming the orcs and humans’ armies. The humans and orcs also had their fair share of powerful generals and soldiers but they would be instantly overwhelmed once one fiend detected them. They were priority kills and with the interlinked minds of the fiends they were able to quickly coordinate with each other once they found such an individual and execute them. After that, a fiend would devour the corpse of this person and assimilate their abilities and strength with its own, turning it into another deadly asset for the fiends’ army. The powerful individuals of the orcs and humans were only a danger to their own armies than an advantage because once they stepped forward and fell into the fiends’ hands, their powers would be assimilated by the fiends and used against the people they were fighting for. When the ArchBishop’s side heard Julius say his plan out loud, they frowned because even with their advantage in numbers now gone, they didn’t believe that these blood copies of the demon-like monster in front of them would be able to tie them down here.  Also, they came here intending to kill him so his confidence and nonchalance pricked these people’s pride. However, when they took this time to observe the condition of their armies, they saw the abominable scene of them being overwhelmed by their enemies. The dwarves had brought out some unknown weapons and were firing these things at the human forces and decimating their vanguards while the fiends were even worse. They devoured everyone in their paths, orc, and human before they repulsively devoured their corpses and began using the soldiers’ abilities in the next instant. The most eye-catching performances were from the supposedly dead Dwarven Princess, Brunhild, and the two female fiends, Aria and Eisha. They showed power and potential to become individuals on the human and orc champions’ levels in the future and they were using their abilities to give their respective armies an advantage. It was especially so with Eisha who was higher leveled than Aria and Brunhild. She had flown into the midst of the orc army in her Metamorphosis form and was slaying them left and right before tossing their bodies over to her fiends who devoured them in an instant and visibly became stronger. The fiends who devoured an orc showed their prowess even more clearly than the ones who only devoured a human. Their bodies grew to a size similar to an orc and their strength overwhelmed them when previously, it was clear that the fiends lost to the orcs in the aspect of pure raw strength. ArchBishop Torres and the rest finally realized why Julius had activated his devastating skill earlier that nearly killed two of their races’ champions. He did that to bait them into moving onto the battlefield to save their allies and deal with him. Seeing the change on their faces, Julius chuckled and said, “It’s too late! I put on that spectacular performance just to lure you fools out! Now that you’re here… you can stay and watch as your armies fall before my fiends!” ArchBishop Torres frowned at Julius’s confidence that was borderline arrogance. Their objective in coming here to deal with Julius was hampered but just because the Mountain King had joined him and there were more copies of the human-like devil, Torres didn’t believe for a second that just this was enough to hold him and the others here. “With just you two?” Torres said with a sneer. "Your ability may have allowed you to create copies of yourself but I doubt they hold any actual ability!" Julius maintained his calm demeanor and replied, “Do you think I need more people to deal with fools like you who fell for such an obvious ploy?” “What…?” Julius answered by having his blood doppelgangers step forward. ArchBishop Torres took a step back and said, “We only need to open up a way for us to get back to our armies and support them! I suggest that the orcs―” “Silence, old man. You decide nothing!” the Orc Shaman growled. Even though they were cooperating, it wasn’t like the orcs would listen to the humans. “Do you not understand the dire situation your army is in? This is not a time for us to squabble!” Sammael barked. Julius’s lips lifted into a sly smile and he turned to the 2 orc champions, “I have a proposition for you two.” “...” “I’ll let you two go but you pull your armies out of this battle. You don’t have any ties or benefits to this battle so that shouldn't be too hard, no?” “You kill comrades already. We orcs are not forgiving!” The shaman spoke. Julius shrugged and said, “If that’s the case, I’ll tie you two down here and let my fiends destroy every single one of your orcs. You can watch their demise just like the humans will.” The chaos orc and the shaman couldn’t understand why Julius’s people attacked them. Since they had a common adversary in the humans, why did they attack them instead of supporting them? The two orcs could see that Julius was here to support the dwarves who the humans were attacking and it could be said that they, the orcs, were here also to ‘support’ the dwarves by attacking the humans. In their current situation, they shouldn’t have been treated as enemies. “Why attack us when we not attack you? We only attack humans!” “If I didn’t attack you, then I wouldn’t have been able to lure in those 2 fools over there,” Julius replied while giving the ArchBishop and Queen Yvette a side-long glance. “...” “I can stop my fiends’ attack on your army, but you have to pull out from this battle with the humans. Only the humans are my enemies since they are attacking my allies, the dwarves. Why the need for any more senseless bloodshed? I’m not part of the dark alliance or anything so I’m not your enemy.” The orc shaman contemplated Julius's words for a moment. The important thing was this devil-like humanoid creature was not a dark alliance member so they weren't enemies so although the casualties the orcs had sustained from the fiends’ initial ambush had cost them a few lives, it was better than to continue fighting them here since it would only result in them losing more lives for nothing. 2 dangerous individuals were roaming in the midst of their forces and killing their brethren left and right. They had power far above their most elite soldiers and generals so it was a cause of concern since if they didn’t take action now, their people would be the first ones eliminated because a majority of the fiends were attacking them and not the humans. “...Fine. We shall back off.” The shaman’s words caused the 3 humans to react violently. The Holy Knight was the first to express his outrage. “What? Are you turning your backs on us?!” Sammael roared. “?” The two orcs looked at the holy knight like he was an i***t while Julius only chuckled, “You two were just at each other’s throats before I stepped in and now you expect them to help you? I’m not even a demon nor are my people part of the so-called ‘dark’ alliance.” The two orcs looked at each other before they backed away. Julius nodded to them with a smile before ordering his fiends to back off. “Hmph, I was never relying on those savage, untrustworthy heathens!” ArchBishop Torres angrily said. From the start, the church’s people had always been saying 'heathens this, heathens that'. It greatly put off the orcs and Julius when they heard that word. The orcs decisively chose to back off so Kur’thash took out a horn and blew into it. This was the signal for retreat so the orcs stopped their fighting and quickly disengaged from the battle. They already had their fair share of battle so staying here was no longer the sensible thing to do and engaging the fiends in battle wasn’t their objective since messing with the humans was their only goal in coming here. Eisha had received Julius's orders and after seeing the orcs back off after the horn was blown, she rallied her fiends and moved to attack the humans. Aria followed closely behind before she threw herself into the midst of the humans with her special arachnid fiends and started killing them left and right. She made sure to stay clear from the dwarves' line of fire so they were attacking the flanks of the humans' formation. The fiends devoured any humans in their paths and grew stronger with every kill they stacked. Devouring the corpses also healed their bodies so they continued fighting in their most optimal state while the humans only tired as time passed. Julius turned his attention back to the 3 in front of him and merged his three blood doppelgangers into one. He didn’t need the other two since the orcs had retreated so it was now an even playing field, 3 human champions against him, his doppelganger, and his ally, the Mountain King. “Enough talk...Let’s fight!” Julius rushed at the ArchBishop after saying his piece while his doppelganger moved to attack the Holy Knight. “Come, heathen! Taste the wrath of god!” “Pray, archbishop, but just know that your god won’t save you from me.”
