On his journey, Julius realized something on the road. All of the people in his faction, including those humans he had taken in, were like family to him. He realized that one day when he was stuck between the choice of helping a few people out from bandits, and leaving them alone.
Naturally, he left them alone because he felt no obligation to do anything for them like saving them from their perilous demise. He felt nothing and even after he watched them all die from the sidelines, he still felt no empathy for them.
