Moving from her home to another country because of something so stupid wasn't exactly how she planned her life. But this was her reality now, and she had to make the most out of it .
Gabriella had already prepared breakfast and had a plate out for Issabella when she finally came out of her room. She offered a polite smile and sat next to Gabi to eat after thanking her for the meal.
"Did you sleep well ?"
Gabriella asked. Issabella nodded and smiled uncomfortably. Something told her that Gabriella had heard her screaming in her sleep and she didn't know how to go about it .
"That's good. " I came in around 6 this morning, a couple of friends and I went to a new bar in the area.
"Oh, that's nice. I didn't hear you leave or come in."
"I'm glad I didn't want to wake you."
Issabella relaxed a bit, it wasn't at all what she was thinking. Gabriella didn't know anything.
"So, Derek tells me you play the violin?"
"Yes, I do, but who's Derek?"
Issabella asked . Gabriella's face had confusion written all over it . 'She can't be serious, right?' she thought to herself.
"Derek is my brother! " You know, the man who brought you here ?"
"Ooh, oh!, I didn't know Dale was called Derrick. Is that his middle name? "
"You're kidding, right ?"
Issabella shook her head and Gabriella rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"His name is Derek Dale!"
"Wait what? Dale is your family name ? "
Gabriella nodded .
"I had no idea, what on earth is wrong with Tiffany? She calls him Dale, so I assumed Dale was his first name."
"Oh, yeah, that makes sense. I totally forgot Tiffany calls him by his last name. She's so weird sometimes. "
"Well yeah, tell me about it ."
The pair laughed about the whole issue and went on with their breakfast before heading out to buy some new clothes for Issabella.
"It is for your new job. You must look your absolute best ."
Gabriella said when Issabella started complaining about how expensive and sophisticated all the dresses were . Gabriella had only picked out gowns for her, the type that the celebrities wear on red carpets and, as dazzling as those dresses were, Issabella couldn't bring herself to stop complaining.
"Now, let's get you dolled up. You must look your absolute best tonight. First impressions count!"
There was no room for protests. It was obvious by now that Gabriella was used to getting whatever she wanted, and she never took 'No' for an answer. She had no option other than to follow Gabriella. She was living under her roof after all.
A few hours later, Gabriella had transformed Issabella from a troubled-looking young woman to an outstanding English goddess even though she wore no make-up.
"Wow, I can hardly recognize myself. I look different, even without make-up ."
"Well, I still think you should apply make-up, but I respect your decision. I'm glad we did something about your hair and your eyebrows though. They were killing me."
Gabriella said with a triumphant smirk on her face.
"Well, I'm going to get ready and we'll leave. Your work starts tonight."
"Are you seriously not going to tell me what my job is, Gabi?"
"No, it's a surprise, just be patient."
Issabella resigned in defeat and focused on herself in the mirror. She really looked incredible.
She decided to facetime Tiffany to show off her new look .
"Well, look at you ! You look exquisite darling. Let me have a full view. "
Those were Tiffany's first words when she answered. Issabella simply rolled her eyes and did what was asked of her.
"Splendid !"
Tiffany yelled.
"Well, hello to you too, and I'm fine. Thanks for asking. How are you?"
Isabella said, feigning annoyance.
"Don't blame me, you look amazing. And I'm doing well too . You simply look dashing."
" You're right, I do look amazing. I just wish Gabriella would tell me what my job is ."
"Don't be stubborn Issa, just wait. You'll love it."
Issabella couldn't believe Tiffany was with Gabriella on not telling her what the job was going to be. But, there was no use crying over spilled coffee.
She spoke to Tiffany for a while before Gabriella came out looking absolutely stunning herself. Her large blue eyes matched her gown and the turquoise gem that adorned her ears and her neck complimented her figure perfectly. The gown hugged her figure, drawing out her body contours in a captivating way. She was just breathtaking.
"Well, time to go, Duty calls . Bye Tiff."
"Bye Issa."
With that, Issabella set off with Gabriella to her new workplace. It turns out, her work place was the new bar Gabriella told her about in the morning. The owner was a friend of Dale's.
"Well, Teddy here is my brother's friend, and he's in need of a violinist."
"What kind of bar needs a violinist?"
Issabella asked while shaking the hand of this man named Teddy. Teddy, on the other hand, had a weird smile on his face. He had his eyes glued on Issabella the moment she walked in. There was no doubt he was captivated by her beauty. But the minute she spoke, his heart jumped out of his chest.
Every syllable that rolled off her tongue was like a melody to him. Her pure British accent seemed to elevate her beauty even more . He couldn't help but smile.
He flipped Issabella's hand over and kissed the inside of her palm, taking advantage of the moment to steal a sniff of her feminine fragrance. She smelled divine.
"The kind, my dear, that is only open to exquisite people like you, for the most part ."
Teddy finally spoke, in response to her question.
His little action had started to ignite something in Issabella, and it wasn't something pleasant. She was battling the urge to flinch and run away from this man and find a safe space to hide . The feel of his hand on hers and his lips in her palm, made her insides turn.
"Well, let's get started, shall we? Nice to see you again Teddy. Let's not forget you're married. "
"Ah! Gabriella, it's good to see you again."
Gabriella to the rescue. A second later and something tragic would have happened. Teddy led Issabella to the band section and got her acquainted with the rest of the band and left with Gabriella to get her a seat.
The rest of the evening went well. Issabella and the band had entertained the customers to their satisfaction, and it was midnight, which meant it was time for the band to set off.
Teddy was a very strategic man. He had once explained to Dale that no businessman or woman or anyone who was committed to his or her work had the time to spend more than five hours in a bar. And they would mostly likely leave before midnight. However, regular people, college kids and the sorts who didn't have anything major going on in their lives and loved to party would gladly stay up in the bar till morning.
That's why he had the first session from 9 P. M to 12 A. M . The first section had a band for soothing jazz music . And he had the second session from 12 A. M to 5 A. M, which had a DJ for all kinds of party music.
Dale had thought Teddy was crazy at first, but a month into the operation, Teddy's point had been proven.
"Here you go gorgeous, your earnings for the night."
Issabella was confused as Teddy handed her the envelope. She looked around and saw her band members holding envelopes of their own. Teddy seemed to read her confusion and gave a soft chuckle.
"The bar operates in two sessions, my dear, your session is over, it's now time for the other side of the city to party. I pay all my workers at the end of every session. "
"Oh, that's nice. I guess it's just not what I was expecting."
"That's alright. The place is fully booked for the release of an album tomorrow, so, I'll see you the day after."
"Okay, thank you, Sir."
"Don't be silly, call me Teddy.
"Well, thank you, Teddy . "
"Alright then ."
She couldn't help but feel uneasy around Teddy. She just wanted to go home and wash his touch off her. She could still feel it.
It was a silent ride home. Gabriella had not said a word since they left and Issabella feared she might have done something to offend Gabriella, but she feared to ask what it was and just left things as they were.
"Goodnight Gabi ."
She finally managed to say, before climbing the stairs. Gabriella gave a tired smile and said goodnight. Perhaps she had just been overthinking. Gabriella looked pretty tired and maybe that's why she had been quiet.
She quickly rushed upstairs and took a long shower. She scrubbed her hand till it was red, and she silently began to sob. She felt better after two hours in the shower, and she got ready for bed. When sleep finally came, so did the monster in her dreams. And as she helplessly suffered in her sleep, Gabriella silently wept, behind her door.
