As Rose was sitting in the entertainment lounge reading, while Sullivan was talking with Lobo about the move. Blanca had given her a book, the basics of werewolves. She learned that the human and wolf are separate from each other, but one in the same, they share their views, personality and mind. The human and wolf can communicate within their mind, and the only way that they can shift is if the human allows the wolf to take over their body. Young werewolves can shift when they are between three and four years old, they are able to communicate with their wolves at two years old. Wolves can heal themselves quicker than a human can, but wolves are weak to silver and a plant, known as Wolfsbane. The plant weakens the wolf within and stops them from shifting into their wolf form, it's smell is foul to the powerful sense of smell of the werewolf. If a wolf is shot by a silver bullet, it can be killed within an instant if shot in the right place. If it is not healed with a certain drug within thirty minutes, the wolf will die a slow and painful death.
The Alphas of a pack are the only ones within the pack which can shift into a bipedal form. They call it the Alpha's form. Only wolves with the Alpha status can shift into that form. That explained why Lobo's wolf, Amity, was bigger than Sullivan's wolf, Kylo.
On the night of a full moon, the wolf takes over completely, shutting out the human side of them and turning into what some call, the Feral stage of a werewolf. They loose control and go out on a rampage. Which explained why Blanca was nervous when Gwen mentioned that Rose might not even survive a full moon. The book says that most packs that own humans, have a place within the packhouse where the humans can hide until the morning after the full moon. After the full moon, a pack run the next night is essential, it's a way for them to reassure their bonds as a pack, to let them know that theres no hard feeling after a full moon. Every wolf goes through the full moon, its a scary experience for everyone within a werewolf pack. The pack run consists of a feast around a bonfire, then, the wolves will run in the forests and fields, howling and playing throughout the night, sometimes, if the opportunity comes, the pack will hunt together, bringing down large prey larger then them. But that for smaller packs, a large pack doesn't need to hunt, they'd fight over the food if they were to bring down something large but not enough to feed a large pack.
Wolves are also able to mindlink each other, they talk with each other through the packlink, which links the whole pack together. If they were to be attacked, the packlink would be able to alarm the whole pack and be able to get the children to safety.
As she turned the page, a wolf biting a human was illustrated on both pages. There she read, for a human to turn into a werewolf, the Alpha male of the pack must bite them, not to kill, but to turn them. It's been described as a slow and painful process. The saliva of the Alpha must slip through the wound and enter the bloodstream. There, the process begins. The actual shift into the wolf is painful. The bones must c***k and form into the shape of a wolf, their organs will change as well, the lungs will turn larger, so they can run long distances. The same is said for their heart. It will also turn larger. The human must allow for the wolf to take over, and bare the pain, there is nothing anyone can do but to encourage them to keep going. Their sense of smell and vision will enhance. During the process, they will meet their wolf for the first time.
She turned the next page, there a pair of wolves, obviously a couple, was illustrated on the page. There, the bonds between mates were explained. A bonded and mated pair, will be able to feel each others emotions through the bond, rather it be sadness, fear or pleasure through mating. In order for a pair to be classed as a mated pair, they must bite each other during the mating process on the neck in a certain place, both in human form and in wolf form, it confirms their bond as a pair. They will run together during a pack run, and be together during the full moon.
The door to the entertainment lounge opened, as Rose turned to look who it was, she saw the slim body of Nina, who had a slight disapproved expression read on her face.
"The Alpha sent me here to get you." She said with slight annoyance in her voice.
Rose nodded as she closed her book, still holding it, she stood up and headed towards her. Rose couldn't be mad at the she-wolf, she obviously didn't want to be given the job of looking after a human who wasn't bought to work in the packhouse like the other humans.
Nina nodded as she led Rose out of the entertainment room. There, near the front door, Lobo and Sullivan exchanged a heated conversation. Lobo then placed something in Sully's hand before he walked off. Sullivan's head lowered before he looked up to see Nina and Rose walking towards him.
Rose carried his duffel bag and the book, Blanca had said that she could keep the book until she was finished with it, then she would have to return it to the Luna.
Sullivan glanced at the book and his bag in her hands, "Where is your stuff?" He asked.
Rose shrugged before Nina answered for her "Her dress, the accessories and the PJs that the Luna provided her are currently being washed. Someone will bring them to you before night falls."
Sully then nodded towards Nina before he took his bag from Rose's hand, leaving her with just the book. He then heads out the front door. Rose bows her head towards Nina before she follows him out. He was walking in a direction she didn't walk with Blanca, but it was towards the larger houses she had seen from the second floor. He turned down a smaller dirt road which led down a street with houses. Before he turned down the driveway, he sniffed the air before he snorted in disgust. This must be their new home.
Rose waits behind Sullivan as he unlocks the door with the key. Sullivan enters first, he sniffs the air, it was unfamiliar for him, it had obviously been cleaned, but he could still smell the faint scent of other wolves within the house. The house was modern, similar to the house she lived in with her parents. In the living room, the dining room and bedrooms were layered with white carpet, while in the kitchen it was layered with white tile flooring. The walls were painted light blue.
The two bedrooms had a queen bed with white sheets and blankets, two bedside tables, one with a lamp and one with a clock. The room also has a lounge and a dressing table. The lounge room sports a large lounge with a coffee table, a large flatscreened TV was mounted to the wall. The dining room has a large glass dining table with four chairs surrounding it. As she explores the house, she peaks into the kitchen and looks it over. It has a large white fridge with a freezer section at the bottom. A stovetop oven and a microwave, almost white bench tops scattered around the appliances, with drawers with utensils and plates for serving food.
Sullivan had also entered the kitchen, he searched the fridge and cupboards, slightly growling at the sight of no food, but he nodded at the sight of the kitchen. He liked it.
"We'll go shopping to fill this place with food tomorrow." He mumbled before he stalked off to one of the bedrooms.
Rose was then left alone for a little bit, as she walked into the bedroom that Sully had not entered, she placed the book down on the dressing table before she also looked around her bedroom, she opened the drawers on the dressing table to find them empty. She'd have to wait for the rest of her belongings to arrive to fill them up with her stuff. There was also nothing in the two side tables beside her bed. Her new home seemed to be lacking in something, unlike her parent's house, it seemed to be less homey, maybe it needed some decorations, a blanket on the couch, a pillow or two? The walls were also baron, she felt the need to buy posters of some kind to put on the walls. Since she was living in a wolf pack, maybe some posters of wolves?
Before she could even think about it, Sully called out to her. She made her way towards the living room, where he relaxed on the lounge.
"Since we don't have food here, I'm going to order from the local pub, here." He said as he passed his phone to her, "Order something for dinner from there."
As Rose looked at the menu, she had noticed the prices, cheap, compared to most places she had been to, "Why is it so cheap?" She asked. She had placed herself on the otherside of the lounge from Sully.
"It's one of the cheaper pubs, they do good food though. The owners' motto is, 'we as a pack are one, no one should go hungry'." he chuckled, "Even if you don't have much money, they'll feed you."
Rose nodded. "They sound like lovely wolves."
Sully chuckled "Yeah, they are." he said "Anyway, pick anything you want."
Rose took her time, looking at the menu, then something caught her eye. "I'll have the loaded fries, that sounds really yum." She said as she passed the phone back to Sully.
"Yeah, it is a good choice." He said as he took back his phone, "You uh.." He paused as he tried to put words together "Have a phone?" He looked towards her.
She nodded "I got given one for my 18th birthday, I think it'll be here when my belongings arrive."
Sully seemed pleased at that. "Okay, just incase we're separate and you need me, since you can't mindlink." He grumbled as he continued to tap on his phone. He then placed the one on the table with a loud bang. "Food's ordered,", He said before he shifted uncomfortably against the lounge.
"Are you okay, Sully?" Rose asked as she noticed his discomfort.
He shook his head. "No, it's Kylo, he doesn't like the smell of this place. I'll let him out tonight."
"Why doesn't he like this place?"
"It doesn't smell like us," he muttered.
She smiled, "I see, yeah.." She said as she lowered her head in a chuckle as Sully looked at her with his eyebrows raised, "This place doesn't feel like home yet."
A deep, rumbling laugh exited Sully's throat, Rose looked up at him. She had never heard him laugh in the moments she'd been around him. He wasn't smiling though, it was clear he was amused.
"Yeah, I guess it doesn't, huh?" He said "What do you think it needs?"
Rose then leaned back against the back of the lounge, "The walls need something, in all areas of the house it seem so bare." She said "Also, I think the lounge could do with a blanket or pillows, something cozy." She chuckled.
Sully nodded "Okay, that sounds like a nice idea." He said as he picked up the remote to the TV and turned it on, "I guess, it's your home too."
The Simpsons was on, they watched for a little while, before someone knocked at the door, "Maybe it's the food." Rose said as Sully stood up to answer the door. A small bag was handed to him, he gruffed in thanks before shutting the door and turning around.
"Nope, it usually doesn't take that fast." He said as he handed the bag to Rose. She looked in it. It was her red dress, her headband and hair-tie and the PJs that Blanca leant her, plus the spare underwear and bra that she didn't wear.
"Oh, it's my stuff from the auction, and the PJs that the Luna leant me for the night." Rose said as she stood up and went into her room. She opened the dresser's drawers and placed the dress in the middle drawer, she also placed her PJs in the middle drawer on the other side of the dress. She then placed the underwear and bra in the bottom drawer, she placed the headband and hair-tie on top of the dresser. Her shirts, shorts and pants will go into the top drawer when her stuff arrives from her parents' place.
"Rose!" Sully suddenly called out "Dinners here!"
She got up then, and exited out of the bedroom, Sully was in the kitchen, ravaging through the utensils to grab both a fork and knife each. Sully then passed her the utensils and walked back to the living room. There, a large paper bag sat there. The smell of their food flooded the house.
"Smells good." Rose said as she took out the two white takeaway containers. She looked in the first one and saw it was her loaded fries, with pulled pork, smoked BBQ sauce, liquid cheese and fried shallots. She then took the other container and handed it to Sully. Who nodded in thanks before he sat down on the lounge and opened up the lid of his container. He had ordered a rare steak, with chips and salad with Diane sauce.
They sat in comfortable silence, watching the TV and eating their dinner together. When they finished, they placed their food containers in the paper bag again, they sat on the lounge, full from their food. When Rose let out a yawn, she took the utensils to take them to the sink. She'd wash them before drying them with a tea-towel, then she'd put them away.
Rose then headed to her room, she shut the door, leaving it open slightly, before she started taking off her shirt and leggings, she'd then take her PJs out of the dresser and put them on. She wasn't sure if she should bid Sullivan goodnight, so she decided not to.
As she climbed into bed, the bed welcomed her like an old friend. Her sore body finally relaxed from today's excitement. She tossed and turned trying to get some sleep, but she was restless despite being so tired. She heard noises outside her bedroom door, she had only left her door open slightly, so she could hear if Sullivan needed anything. She then heard growling, Sullivan had said he would let Kylo out tonight, probably for him to mark this house as his.
As she looked over her shoulder, a bright pair of yellow eyes stared back at her.
"Can't sleep?" The deep, coarse voice of Kylo spoke through the darkness. Rose felt the bed giveway under the pressure of Kylo as he climbed onto the bed alongside her.
Rose then shook her head before she decided to speak. She wasn't sure if wolves could see in the dark. "No Kylo, not really."
Kylo then whined before he laid himself on the bed, rolling himself all over it.
Rose giggled "Kylo, you're marking my bed." She smiled.
The black wolf continued, "The house needs to smell like us, it's mine." He puffed out.
"Ours." She corrected him. He stopped before he turned to her, his yellow eyes seeming to stare into her soul.
Kylo then stood, "Ours." He said before he hopped off the bed and made his way to the door before exiting, he was off to mark everything in this house.
Rose then chuckled as she scooted herself down, the blanket up to her chest. As she watched through the c***k of the door, she could see Kylo's shadow, rolling and rubbing himself all over the house, knowing him, he'd get his black fur everywhere. As Rose's eyes started to close, she could feel herself falling asleep. As she passed into unconsciousness, she could swear she felt like someone was watching her.
Unbeknown to Rose, Kylo had watched her fall asleep before he once again made his way over to the bed. He'd raise his front body and place his front paws on the bed, looking intently at Rose. He then started to gently rub his face over her chest and head, making sure to move the covers so he could each her. He was scenting her. In his mind, anything that belonged to him needed to smell like him, and his Rose was his now, she had to smell like him. As he stopped, he looked at the red headed human, his bright yellow eyes staring at her.
"Mine"
