Chapter 10

As they exited the grocery store, the sun was above them, meaning it was basically noon already. Which made both Rose and Sullivan a little bit shocked. They thought that they had been in there shopping for ages, obviously not. Sullivan led the way through the shopping area, the three wolves and human in toe, no one batted an eye as they made their way through. But something made Sullivan stop in his tracks. He turned towards a simple shop, which made the five of them cross the street. Sullivan then placed the bags on the ground before he looked towards Rose. "You said you wanted to make the house look homey, yeah?" He said "Well, this is the best place for that." As Rose looked behind him, she saw exactly what he meant. It was a home improvement store. With blankets, towels, beds, bookshelves and so much more. Rose looked excitedly towards Sullivan, who nodded at her. Rose then quickly walked towards the entrance of the shop and opened the door. She was greeted by a big store with lots to look at. She quickly started to look down the aisles. She looked at all the statues of wolves, this one with a human and a wolf caught her eye. The human had long flowing hair and a big dress, the wolf was up to her chest in size. There was a plague on the stand that the statue was standing on that read 'Moon Goddess Selene'. She then felt a wet nose touch her leg which made her jump slightly, but she looked down to find the gray wolf from before, but instead of holding the bag he was holding a credit card. Sullivan had obviously forgotten to give it to her, considering she never knew how she'd pay. As she gently took the card out of the wolf's mouth, she expected the wolf to go outside, but it followed her around the store, as if to guard her. She picked out two throw pillows with wolves on them for the lounge, as well as a large blanket with some wolves howling on it. She would definitely return to this shop later. As she approached the counter to pay, a little short lady popped her head up, she had giant round glasses and tan skin with curly red hair. "Huh, no wonder I couldn't smell you." She said as she looked at Rose up and down "I heard the door open but couldn't smell ya." She then looked at Rose's collar around her neck "Yep, I get it now." Rose nodded as she placed the three items on the counter for them to be scanned. As she waited patiently, the gray wolf then headed back outside. Rose looked towards the door as she saw Sullivan and the three wolves waiting. She was hoping she wasn't gone for too long. "There we go," The lady said as she rang up her total, which Rose paid for with a swipe of the card. "You new here darlin'?" Rose nodded "Yes ma'am, I got here three days ago." "Yeah, thought so." She said as she started to bag her items into a reusable bag "I know most humans here anyway, never seen ya is all." Rose smiled and nodded as she took the bag from the lady. "I'm Lupita, I also run a local pub. Should pop by sometime with Sully." "Yeah, I'll let Sullivan know. Thank you." She bowed her head towards Lupita before she started to head towards the front door. Sullivan and the wolves then started to pick up the bags, which Rose apologized for if she was gone for so long, in which Sullivan said it was fine. Sullivan had offered to carry her bag, but she said it was light enough for her to carry alone. As they made their way home, Rose decided to ask about the Moon Goddess Selene. "She made us who we are. She created the first werewolf with her own daughter and son, who went on to have many wolves. She established the first ever packs and crowned the first Alpha and Luna." He paused "Why do you ask?" "I saw a statue with her plague on it, there were also a few tapestries of her. Where is she now?" "She passed into the immortal realm, she watches over us always from there. And if a wolf is lucky, they might be gifted with Selene's Gift." He let out a deep, rumbling chuckle as Rose titled her head "It's a rare gift only given to a few wolves every ten years. You find your soulmate, your other half. You can smell them if they are at close range. They say that your soulmate's scent is so addictive and intoxicating that you crave it. Mating with your soulmate is said to be such a pleasurable experience for both involved." "Why don't you just call it s*x?" Rose asked. One of the wolves beside them let out an amused laugh. She had almost forgotten that they were there. "You see, we wolves are very s****l creatures. s*x is just s*x with no love involved, for fun, as some say. But actually mating with your mate is love making for real." Sullivan blushed slightly "We have a very unique way of mating. The males can control if they ejaculate fertilized sperm, and the female can choose to become pregnant. But that is only done by the wolf itself. We as humans cannot control that. Ejaculating with actual fertilized sperm feels so much better than non-fertilized" "So, if you were to have s*x with someone and they ejaculated fertilized sperm, the wolf within can choose rather to accept or deny it?" Sullivan nodded "Yes, that is exactly what I meant." He said "Can we please change the subject? Kylo won't shut up about this." Rose chuckled, Kylo must be going nuts for him to say that out loud. The other wolves also chuckled alongside her. As they turned down their street, Susan and Harold weren't outside like this morning, most likely having a nap or watching TV. As they neared their home, the pair and their pup from this morning were lounging in their front yard, their pup playing with a ball. Rose grinned as the pup spotted them, it dropped the ball and stood up, tail wagging with happiness. It glanced at its parents, one shaking its head slowly as if to say; No. But the pup didn't falter, but it stood completely still as it watched the group across the street. Rose sent a small wave towards the pup which made it yap back. As they headed down the path that led them to their house, Sullivan reached into his pocket and pulled out the keys. He fumbles with them for a moment before he opens the door. He took a deep breath before he entered his home. The wolves timidly followed him into the kitchen, where he instructs them to place the bags onto the floor. He then sticks his hand into his pocket and pulls out three ten dollar bills. "I know you guys get paid hourly, however, this is for you three." Sullivan said as he placed the bills onto the floor, "Up to you how you want to carry them, personally I wouldn't carry that in my mouth." He lightly chuckled, but didn't smile. The three wolves nodded before the gray one picked up the cash with his paws, he passed the other two bills to the others. Rose didn't ask out loud how they'd carry them, they had complete control over their body, maybe they could squish the cash into their paws or curl their tails around it or shift and run back to the grocery store. Rose would have to find that out from Sullivan later. The three wolves then nod their thanks to him before they head out in a signal file outside. Rose wished them farewell. Rose joined Sullivan in the kitchen, she looked at all the items they had bought, "This is gonna take a while." She chuckled. "Yeah, no kidding." Sullivan agreed. "If we work together, I'm sure we could get it done quicker." "Yeah, let's get started." Rose worked on putting the stuff that didn't need to be cold in the pantry. She placed the cereals and snack foods together on the same shelf, different types of sauces and pasta types. Herbs and spices were on another shelf in the pantry, alongside the salt, pepper and sugar, as well as the coffee and stuff for hot drinks, as well as the mixes for baking. On the top shelf she placed oils and sprays. As she finished up, she noticed Sully was halfway done with the cold stuff. "You need a hand?" She asked as she walked up to where he was stocking the fridge. "Sure, if you want to get started on the freezer section," Sullivan sighed as he ran his hand through his hair. "Sure thing." Rose said as she looked into one of the bags containing stuff for the freezer. She pulled out the ice creams, icy poles, frozen veggies and frozen meals and started to place them in the freezer. They decided to freeze the meat they weren't gonna use until later. By the time they had finished, the sun was setting. They placed the bags in the cupboard below the sink. Both of them had collapsed on the lounge by the time they finished. "And you said it would be done faster if we got it done quicker," Sullivan panted. "Hey, not my fault. I didn't realize how much we had." Rose laughed. Sullivan chuckled deeply, "And I'm guessing we're too exhausted to even make dinner yet, since we didn't plan on that?" Sullivan asked. Rose laughed. "Yeah, I didn't even think about that." "We can do something simple tonight then. You want some of that Kraft mac 'n' cheese?" She nodded. "Sure, I haven't had that in years." "Me either." Rose then grabbed the remote and turned on the TV. She flicked through a few channels before she found the funny channel that had shows like The Big Bang Theory, Everybody Loves Raymond, Steinfield and so much more. The two relaxed for a bit before Sullivan stood up to make the mac 'n' cheese as much as Rose said she'd do but, but he told her to relax and let him handle it. Which made Rose smile. She honestly thought that he would force her to make the food all the time, since she was basically his slave.. But, maybe he saw her as a housemate rather than a slave. She got up and grabbed the one bag that hadn't been emptied yet, she took out the two pillows and the big blanket before she laid the blanket over the lounge and threw the pillows on the lounge as well. "Well, does it seem more homey now?" Rose turned around to see Sullivan watching her, with two bowls in both hands. "Kinda," She said as she turned around to face him. "I didn't want to be so long in there, I want to go back there sometime later to get more." "We didn't mind," Sullivan said as he handed Rose a bowl, the strong smell of the mac 'n' cheese hitting her nose. "It wasn't that hot outside, surprisingly." Rose nodded as she sat down on the lounge and started to eat. "I met the shopkeeper, Lupita?" He nodded "Yep, she's lovely." "She said to drop by her local pub sometime." She said "Was that the place we ordered from yesterday?" He shook his head as he placed himself on the lounge beside her. "No, completely different place. Hers is on the other side of the village, bit far from here." "We should go there sometime. She knew your name. Do you know her?" "She's.. a family friend." Sullivan mumbled, "My dad and her were friends." She nodded, she felt like she should continue to talk to him about it, but she wouldn't push it. He obviously wasn't ready to. "Hey." She said as she looked at him, "Lily didn't tell me about what happened to them, because it wasn't her place to, but, I'd like to know someday." He nodded slowly, "I'll tell you sometime, but thank you for being understanding." Rose smiled as she continued to eat her dinner and watch what was on TV. "When do you think my stuff will be here?" She asked. "Probably tomorrow," he answered "Your folks have probably been told about where you are, if they asked." "Oh, can they do that?" "Sometimes, when Lily came here, her parents sent her a bunch of her stuff from home, congratulating her on being bought by a werewolf pack." "Is being bought by a werewolf pack a good thing?" "I'd say yes, I mean, we don't eat humans.. at least.. not all of us." He paused "We've always treated our humans well, we wolves are well known to look after them." "Are there any creatures that don't?" Sullivan nodded "Yes, that is correct. If you were sold to a vampire, you would become a blood slave, someone who works in a castle owned by a vampire Lord that houses many other vampires, but you would also be prayed apon whenever a vampire wanted a snack." "Ryan and Xander didn't have a castle, they had a mansion." "That is because they own that house and aren't a Lord, they probably own their own slaves and house them there. Ryan's job is to collect of-age humans and bring them to auction, and that means prepping them up for it." "Oh.." She swallowed, thinking of Mary. "Lobo said that some who bidded on me said that they wanted to use me as a s*x slave, can they do that?" "They.. need a special license to buy humans to do that. Some species need humans for them to repopulate, so if you were bought by them, you'd basically be a brood mare." He shook his head as a slight growl echoed through his throat. Rose shivered at the thought. Her parents had given her a thorough s*x education, much to her disgust. But the thought of being bred time after time to produce for them just made her feel sick. She felt Sullivan stand up and take the bowl from her hands before she could drop it. She had finished eating anyway. "Lobo has a soft spot for humans, I guess he didn't want you to become one of them." "I never thanked him for buying me.." Rose mumbled as she looked up at Sullivan. "Bit of a weird thing to thank someone for, don't you think?" He said as he took the bowls to the kitchen to wash them. Rose chuckled. "Yeah, I guess so." She let out a loud yawn, which made her a little bit shocked. "Guess it's been a long day." She said as she stood up from the lounge, she started to make her way towards her bedroom before she stopped infront of the kitchen where Sullivan was washing their bowls. "Goodnight, Sullivan." He stopped washing and looked up at her, his brown eyes seemed to be filled with a bit of shock at her words, prohaps it's because she didn't say goodnight last night. "Goodnight, Rose."
