Those words coming out of her mouth shook me to my core. 'Rae? Isn't this the place we both die?' I pushed her out of my reach with all my might and pulled my sword out of it's sheath. I would be ready for any attack I turned and I heard it before I saw it, the sounds of a struggle. Adam came bursting out of the forest, Idril hot on his heels. They were fighting and I knew my best friend had the advantage, Adam was untrained, no way in the short couple of weeks he had been with us had he gained enough experience to put Idril on his arse. And so I watched horrified as Adam kicked Idril's legs out from under him and he fell on his knees, I watched helplessly as Adam drove his knee straight into Idril's face and blood flew out of his nose and mouth as he flopped backwards, unconscious.
