I shot straight up in my bed the nightmares that are my memories were beginning to become more vivid, the closer I get to my birthday. I mean they’re always vivid but it seems to get worse with each passing year. As if I’m supposed to remember something that I’ve forgotten although I’m not sure what it was that I forgot you see after I woke up almost a month after my accident I was in a new city scratch that not only was it a new city but a new country a whole different continent to be exact.

I woke up in the exact country I had always dreamed of seeing The United States Of America New York to be exact I stayed for almost 50 years. I stayed in Maine and Wisconsin for awhile but I finally decided to settle in Chicago, Illinois the crime rate is high but it seemed the better option as far as missing things go. I’ve left over the years but I always come back after the few friends I’ve acquired pass on considering I don’t age I don’t want to draw anyone’s attention.

I sat up and leaned against the wooden headboard, I rubbed my temples trying to push away the on coming headache. Looking at the clock it showed six-thirty AM I had to be to work in a couple hours I was happy it was Tuesday I didn’t have to go into the office today, all of my meetings and work was over Skype and emails over the years I had placed my money in the right stocks and learned how to do proper business the money was good in computer software industry so instead of investing i went into business for myself and built my own company.

Thinking about that I smiled I had done well for myself I was the CEO of one of Americas top leading companies in the field both here and overseas to be honest I was a silent partner in a lot of different industries under several different aliases none of them knew exactly who I was. My own company didn’t even really know what I looked liked only my top executives saw me and I made sure there were never any pictures of me.

I got out of bed washed up and put on a nice green blouse with black straight leg pants, I had another hour before my first meeting I needed coffee I had enough time to grab a cup from the shop down the street I grabbed my phone and shoes and headed for the door.

After grabbing my things and stepping into the elevator I looked at my phone I had a message from my assistant,

Ms.Thornton ,

The shareholders have called a meeting and need you to come in today. They want to discuss the sales of some of their shares to another company and since they all have the upmost respect for you they want your approval before doing so.

Damn and I was so looking forward to staying home today. It doesn’t matter I can get more work done in the office anyway, I walked towards the coffee shop and called for a car on my way. After getting to the office and settling in I took my first meeting it was just an update meeting on how some of our projects were developing and progressing. Afterwards I went to the conference room when I entered the conference room to meet with the board i sat at the head of the table one of my favorite well respected members is asking to sell to his shares to his nephew who was a business tycoon, I’ve heard of him I told him it was completely up to him and that I trusted his decision. I returned to my office and called my assistant in “Ciara will you please bring me everything you can find about Griffon Blake please.”

She gave me a questioning look before she said “ Mr. Whiting’s nephew right the one he wants to give his shares to?” “Yes Ciara one and the same I want I know who’s coming to our table to eat.” Ciara has been with me for the last 60 years we found each other she was my assistant and my best friend lucky for us that the legends of vampires not being able to be in sunlight was exactly that a legend and no we don’t sparkle either. She gave me a wide grin “ of course we can’t have people without manners coming to eat now can we.” And with that she turned and left.

About an hour later she came back with a folder and placed it on my desk, with a smile on her face she said

“ It would seem that Mr. Blake has the very best manners..” I smiled and shook my head at her

“ Are we still on for dinner tonight?” She gave me an apologetic look “I forgot I made plans with Chris tonight.”

“Don’t worry about it you can make it up to me another night.” I gave her a teasing smile

“ Why of course Ms. Thornton I wouldn’t have it any other way and I am truly sorry I forgot”

“What kind of vampire are you always forgetting?” She looked at me like I accosted her then smiled and turned to leave.

I was done with my work a few hours later I perked up to leave when Ciara buzzed in on the overcome to say that someone was here to see me and that I should really take this meeting I gave a heavy sigh and told her to send them in little did I know that this one person was going to turn the rest of my day upside down..
