Reluctant

Isabella The man sitting on my leather office couch was beyond Gorgeous. He had blonde hair, perfect angular jaw, full lips, broad shoulders and even with his perfectly tailored suit I could tell he was all muscle his eyes were greenish blue with gold flecks and I could tell they got lighter or darker with the color of suit he decided to wear each day. All in all he was built like a god and all I wanted to do was straddle him, while I was having these un-lady like thoughts he began to speak again his voice was like warm honey. “Interesting don’t you think?” He looked at me waiting for my answer; I licked my dry lips and shifted my thoughts blinking before I answered him “um, what’s interesting?” I asked. “ What Manning said; about being rivals.” “Oh yes.. very interesting.” My mind was all over the place thinking about everything but what he was talking about. “So how do you want this partnership to work; do you want a partnership or do you want a rivalry.” As Griffon said rivalry he motioned his long slender fingers in air quotes while giving me a playful smile: his smile was gorgeous he had perfect teeth. I couldn’t help but to smile back at him. “Well I honestly would prefer the partnership there really isn’t a need for rivalry I take all of my board members advice into account; and I implement new work place ideas for the staff on a trial basis before making it policy: to see how it will go over; with that being said do you have any ideas that you would like to implement? or was that just a trick question.” I studied his facial expression his poker face never wavered we sat in silence for a few seconds before he answered “ No it’s not a trick question; and no I have nothing at this time. I mean I want us to start taking on more government projects I think it would be beneficial for the company.” “ I don’t, well I mean we don’t normally take on government projects just because I don’t want the added high pressure and stress situation for my programmers, I like them to be able to go home and chat with their family and friends about their projects they are working on.” Griffon gave me a challenging look “Well they can talk to them about most of the projects they work on just not in full detail.” I gave him a reluctant look “ yes well that’s what I mean I don’t want them to have to be secretive about the projects they work on and our employees have become accustomed to relying on other programmers for help if need be to solve problems they may run into not to mention the security clearance of some of the government projects require not everyone will have the same clearance and that will make them feel isolated. That’s not the direction I want to move in so that’s why I don’t gravitate towards those types of projects.” He gave me a reluctant smile “Well I see your point, but maybe we can change your mind about it in the future I think it would push the company farther.” We sat looking at each other, a mischievous smile came across his beautiful lips “What if we were able to get everyone the same security clearances and provide in house therapists and psychiatrists they can specifically talk to about their projects that they are working on so they don’t feel isolated; would you consider it then? Or at least think about it? Because if we did take on government projects not only would we be able to expand if we wanted to we could also provide raises for all employees which would boost morale, not that you need to, but it never hurts to provide positive reinforcement.” He wasn’t wrong if we could do that it would give us more loyal employees as well; not to mention some of the programmers have been asking about raises and bonuses because other companies have been trying to poach them from me. “Let’s run it by the employees and see what they say, I don’t want to promise anything we can’t provide or assure so we can tell the were working out the details but nothing is set in stone and see what they say if they’re in then let’s start bidding for government contracts?” “Good I like that idea, no wonder you run one of the top companies and have one of the lowest turn over rates you’re a family person and I like family companies. When do you want to run it by the family?” A bright smile spread across my face I liked that term family. “ Let’s run it by the board later today start on the details tomorrow and have a meeting on Friday to see what the “family” thinks about it and let them know if they don’t want to be involved in certain projects they don’t have to be. Sound good?” “Yes it does I’ll have my assistant coordinate our schedules unless you prefer your assistant?” Griffon flashed me a bright smile. “How about she does both our schedules from now on since we’re partners and your assistant can handle your other companies scheduling needs, Is that ok?” “Yes that’ll be fine, I’ll leave my number with your assistant and I’ll be in touch. I do have another meeting to attend, so this is where we say goodbye for now.”Griffon stood up from the couch waved and left.
