Chapter Sixteen

1490 Words
As I get out of my car, I hear Damon screaming inside. Immediately, I run into Klaus’ house and find Rebekah cutting Damon’s chest while he’s caught in some bear traps attached to the ceiling. Allison: “Rebekah, stop!” She turns to me, not completely surprised, but seems curious. Rebekah: “Allison, I didn’t think it’d be you to come save him.” I walk into the room, trying to keep calm. Allison: “Rebekah, Damon is my friend. Why are you hurting him?” Rebekah: “A bit of revenge. He toyed with my mind after sleeping with me.” Damon lifts his head, giving me an exhausted, pleading look. Allison: “Damon, what the hell? Why would you do that to her?” Damon: “She had information we needed.” Moving closer, Rebekah steps aside as I look him in the eyes. Allison: “What do you mean, we?” Rebekah: “His trampy friend Sage helped him.” I can’t believe Damon did this without informing me. Now I have to question who else knows and what they aren’t telling me. But I can’t stand by while Rebekah hurts him. He’s still my friend. I turn to Rebekah, who is clearly pissed with Damon. Allison: “Rebekah, I know he hurt you. I can’t pretend to know why any of this is happening or how you feel about this, but you should let him go. Just be the bigger person this time. Please.” Before she can respond, we hear someone walking in and see Klaus approaching us. Klaus: “Allison, what a pleasant surprise. Here to rescue Damon, I see.” Allison: “As if you’re really surprised, I would come to rescue my friend.” He has a smug smile as he stops before me. Klaus: “Ah yes. But which friend are you here to save? Just Damon or Bonnie too?” His words shock me. Allison: “Why would Bonnie be here?” Klaus: “We just need a little witchy help after our mother linked my siblings and I. Damon needs to answer some questions before we can set him free. Seeing as he is full of vervain, we need to drain him of that, so neither of them will be leaving for the time being.” Not only does he surprise me, but this is emotionally affecting me. Allison: “You said you wouldn’t hurt my friends anymore. You lied to me.” His gaze softens as he watches me. Klaus: “I never lied to you, Allison. I’m not the one hurting Damon and Bonnie remains unharmed.” I glare at him. Allison: “I want to see Bonnie now.” Klaus: “My apologies, Love, but she is in the middle of a very important spell. Can’t have any distractions. You’re more than welcome to wait until she’s done, if you’d like.” Allison: “Why do you do this, Klaus? Every time we take a step closer, you push us further apart with your actions.” Klaus: “Allison-” I hold up a hand, cutting him off. Allison: “Don’t. I’ll wait for both of them.” Klaus: “Can you at least wait upstairs? I wouldn’t want Damon’s blood and screaming to affect you.” Allison: “It’s a little late for that, don’t you think?” I turn back to Damon and put my hands on his cheeks. Allison: “I promise, I won’t leave without you, Damon. Just answer their questions without the usual level of sarcasm, please.” Damon: “No promises.” He’s so tired, he barely mumbled that out to me. Klaus pulls me back from Damon. Klaus: “Careful now. Wouldn’t want to get his wretched blood all over you.” I roll my eyes. Allison: “Says the one who would bathe in his enemies’ blood.” Rebekah: “Sorry, Allison, but I still have some revenge to enact.” Klaus leads me upstairs into the living room. Klaus: “It’s almost over, Love. Once Rebekah discovers what Damon was after in her mind, we’ll let him go. I’ll be back in a bit. Until then, sit tight.” I ignore him as he leaves, groaning about my stubbornness. About an hour or two later, Klaus returns. Klaus: “Bonnie has finished. She unlinked my siblings and myself. I’m setting her free if you want to join her.” Allison: “I’ll go see her, but I’m not leaving until Damon is free too.” Klaus: “You’re welcome to stay as long as you want, Love.” He leads me downstairs and retrieves Bonnie. She and I walk out the door together, and I hug her as she starts breaking down. She cries her heart out when we reach her car. Allison: “It’s okay, Bonnie. You’re safe now.” Bonnie: “He threatened Jeremy and my mom, Allison.” Allison: “I promise, Bonnie, no one is going to get hurt. I won’t let him do anything to anyone we care about.” Bonnie: “How do you plan on doing that? He’s too powerful.” I nod. Allison: “I know his weakness. But you can’t tell anyone.” She nods. Bonnie: “We have to call Elena.” Allison: “I’ll call her. You go home. When you get there, let me know.” She nods and hugs me one more time before leaving. Once she’s gone, I call Elena. E - Allison, where have you been? A - I’m at Klaus’ house. Rebekah still has Damon, but he finally released Bonnie. E - Wait, he had Bonnie this whole time? A - Yeah, he had her do an unlinking spell on him and his siblings. Elena, he threatened Jeremy and Bonnie’s mom. E - Oh my god. Is she okay? A - She’s pretty shaken up. I sent her home to rest. She just wanted to be alone for a while. E - At least she’s safe now. There’s something you should know though. We thought they- Suddenly, the line goes dead. I look at my phone to see she hung up. That’s weird, but maybe someone needed her. For now, Damon needs me here, so I go back inside to see Klaus waiting for me. Klaus: “Welcome back, Love.” Allison: “As if I could leave yet.” He seems to be amused as he steps closer. Klaus: “Perhaps you’d care to join me for a drink?” Allison: “Maybe I will. It’ll allow me to interrogate you for a bit.” Klaus: “By all means, Love, interrogate away.” He leads me to the parlor where we drink a bit and ask each other questions. I’d say we are getting closer, but I’m still being very reserved because of Damon’s cries of pain. It’s muffled, of course, however, still the most present thing on my mind. Klaus: “If you don’t mind my asking, why do you care for Damon so much? The others seem to either loath or tolerate him.” I sigh as I take a sip of my bourbon. Allison: “Really, I should hate him, but he’s one of my closest friends. I hated him at first too, because of how he treated Caroline when he was using her. Then we happened to be at the Grill drinking one night. I was going to kill him, but he told me about him and Katherine. After that, I just felt like we were kindred spirits, doing whatever it takes to disguise our pain.” I sheepishly look over at him, expecting him to be judging me, but he’s just waiting for me to continue. Allison: “He’s a good friend now, and I won’t abandon him when he needs me.” Klaus: “Should I be worried about him stealing you away?” He’s clearly joking, but I can tell he’s a bit jealous. I giggle as I take another sip. Allison: “No, Damon and I will never be more than friends. I’ve never really been able to touch anyone sexually. It never gets past kissing. Sometimes I wonder if something’s wrong with me.” He takes my hand and looks rather serious. Klaus: “There is nothing wrong with you, Allison.” He leans in, and I don’t really know how it came to this, as I kiss him. I push him back, feeling very flustered. Allison: “Stop. This isn’t right.” My voice sounds so unsure, and I’m really confused now. Klaus: “What’s wrong?” Allison: “I can’t do this right now. It’s not the time.” He’s about to say something, but cuts himself off, before leaving me here. God, I feel so stupid. Damon’s in the other room, being tortured, while I can’t help but feel more alive than ever when I’m with Klaus.
