Seeking Life

Once upon a time many eons ago, there was a Queen Celeste, who lived within the enchanted forest in the black castle. She once beloved by all the creatures that lived with in the forest, that is until she fell in love. The being the queen fell for was not her mate, as the story goes, but rather a being of immense evil named Dagon, who wanted nothing more to watch the world burn. There is no real description in the history books as to what this being looked like only just descriptions of the aura a person felt when they were unfortunate enough to find themselves in his presence. That aura being described as absolute despair, feeling as though no matter what was happening you would feel the need to end everything. After the queen and this being declared they would rule over the forest together it had appeared for a time to be complete bliss as the pair had balanced each other out like Yin and Yang. That was until King Dagon killed the queen to finally gain control over all the supernatural beings within the forest. Many of the creature lost their lives due to Dagon’s unquenchable blood thirst. Until all the  creatures of the forest tried to rebel. Elves, Faye, Warlocks, Witches, Vampires, Werewolves, & Shifters marched to the castle to protect their homes. They were met with an army of Dagon’s consisting of thousands of demons. Many of the supernatural beings were slaughtered as they tried to fight against this army. There was however a small fleet of soldiers that were able to make it to the king and subdue him. Dagon made a promise that though they may kill him now they would do well to remember his face because he will return and the next time he will burn the world to ashes. A warrior named Lance used an enchanted silver sword to strike the final blow to Dagon’s heart ending the war and allowing the supernatural being to rebuild the lives they had created within the heart of the forest. This is the bedtime story that I was told by my mother back when I was a child. Now I am freshly turned 18 and decided that it is time that I venture out into the world to find my rightful place in the world. I belonged to the Crimson pack all my life, it is a small pack consisting of around 230 people, surrounded by mountains. My name is Amira most people would describe me as a girl who doesn’t really know when to shut her mouth, but can make most situations funny. I’m a even 5 ft with long curly black hair and emerald green eyes. My wolf is named Nora and if you saw her you would swear she is rose gold in color. We both are in agreement that we can not stay here any longer and urn to see what all this world has to offer verses staying in the small confines of our pack. The plan is to spend one last day with my family and then me and my friends Nathan and Tinsley are to leave in the middle of the night to start our adventure. In the werewolf community it is frowned upon to leave your pack unless you are banished, otherwise you would be seen as a person who can not handle authority. “Hey! Are yall ready to head out?” I ask as I approach the base of the mountain where I find my friends waiting on me. “Yea, we were ready to head out 2 hours ago, but somebody can’t be on time for anything” Tinsley states. “ Sorry Tin, but you should have know that I was going to be much later than what I told you, besides I had to wait until I was sure momma wouldn’t wake” I replied. “ You two hush! We are going to get caught the guards are possibly doing rounds right now “ Nathan whispered in a very aggravated tone. We decided to shift into our wolves until we reach the end of the packs territory and from there we will catch a bus and just go where ever the bus leads. Based on the appearance of the wolves I can tell that my father Alpha Damien is present, My uncle Beta Gavin and Tinsley & Nathan’s father Gamma Devin are leading the party. I know it hurt them for us to leave but if we didn’t my father was going to arrange a marriage between myself and the Alpha’s son of the neighboring pack in efforts to expand our pack which would make it the largest pack known to date. Ever since I was little I dreamed of searching for the enchanted forest and finding the castle I was never one to be interested in love or finding my mate. Nathan and Tinsley both want to find their mates but first they wanted to explore the world with me. With our species stopping the aging process around 30, its safe to say as long as we don’t get killed we will have plenty of time to find love but more importantly we want to find the best adventure. After riding on the bus for around 8 hours we come to a halt. Getting off the bus I spot a shop named “Mistress Evelynn’s supernatural house” there’s a picture of a lady looking into a crystal ball. I nudge Nathan and Tinsley  and point to the shop. “ You think they might be able to help people like us?” Tinsley asked. “ I am not sure, but I mean its worth checking out” I state “ Bro, lets just get some food first and then we can go over there, we were stuck on that bus forever and no one thought to bring snacks, I. AM. STARVING” Nathan complained while rubbing his belly and giving his best pouty face, which honestly looked more like he was suffering from constipation. Me and Tin bust out laughing, but agree to walk over to a little fast food chain named Whamo’s Blamo.  I order just a bacon cheeseburger with fries and a sweet tea, Tin ordered a Chipotle chicken sandwich with onion rings and sweet tea, and Nathan pretty much bought the menu with the exception of salads. Nathan is a tall and very bulky man. Me and Tin swear this boy has ADHD, anytime you see him he’s never sitting still. The stillest I have ever seen him was when we were on the bus and even then he was shaking his foot, flapping his hands and just all around fidgety. We assume this is the reason he can eat the way he does and not gain weight. “ So do you think they are going to try and catch us?” Tin asked. “ Alpha Damien is not one that is going to let us go so easily I would not be surprised if they were on the next bus coming to town. “ Nathan bluntly stated. The thought of my father coming after us unnerves me. Subconsciously I start eating way faster than necessary. “ Thanks for pointing that out Nate, Urgghh lets just hurry and get the hell out of here!” I said jumping up from the table to put my tray on the trash can. Tinsley isn’t far behind me, but of course Nate has walked up to the counter to inquire about a to-go bag. After leaving the food place we walk over to the supernatural store. Upon entering the door chimes and I hear a woman say “ Welcome to Mistress Evelynn’s supernatural house, where any answer you seek can be shown through my crystal ball” I look around trying to find the body the voice comes from but I fail to do so. Finally a small plump woman with short brown curly hair comes into view.   “Hello, have you ever heard of the story of queen Celeste” I asked not wanting to beat around the bush wasting more time than I have. Nathan and Tin are just looking at me like I just revealed our existence to this lady. “ Well aren’t we to the point” the lady states “ My name is Evelyn and I have heard the stories, but even more impressive I have also been to the forest.” I sniff the air to see if I can determine her species I’ve only ever really been around werewolves and humans, but I have met a witch once before when they came to our pack. She smells similar to the witch but not quite the same she smells more woodsy with hint of lilies. “If you’re trying to decipher whether or not I am like you, I am not of werewolf decent but I am magical.” She giggles “ I am half fae and half human”. Tinsley giggles and claps in excitement “ I’ve always wanted to meet a fairy. Oh my goddess this is so cool! Do you have wings, Can you fly, How does your kind find love, who was the hum” “Tinsley!” Nathan shouts trying to end her barrage of questions. “ What” Tinsley questions “ How many times in this life time do you think I will get the chance to ask these questions?” She c***s her eyebrow. I laugh thinking this is so typical of my best friend she gets word vomit when she gets excited. “ How did you find the forest, and do you think you could give us a map?” I ask Evelynn. “ Well honestly I happened upon it by chance, I don’t  have an exact map of the place, but” Evelynn starts to say but Nathan interrupts her “ If you happened upon it by chance how can you be sure it was actually the enchanted forest and not just some random wooded area?’ “ I understand why you would question if I had truly been there, but when I went into this particular forest there was something that spoke to me, begging me to enter” “Spoke to you how?” Nathan asks. “ It was a feeling that pulled at my soul begging me to return ‘home’” she responds Tinsley who has been relatively quite nudges me and mind links “ I have a bad feeling somethings about to happen.”  I learned from a young age to trust Tin’s intuition she was never wrong, there was once when we were around 6 and couldn’t shift yet, she told me that I needed to avoid a certain area of the woods because she felt like something was going to happen, I didn’t believe her at that time and decided to go in just to prove I wasn’t scared and that was when a rouge had jumped out and tried to kidnap me. Luckily for me the guards just happened to be doing rounds that day and were able to save me. “what do you think is going to happen?” I ask “ IDK, but whatever it is going to be soon” She responds “ Are you girls okay” Evelynn asks with a worried expression “ We are fine. But we need to start moving quickly could you give us a map of the general area where you found the forest?” I ask Evelynn leaves and returns with a map in hand she circles around an area that she said should be in the same proximity. “ One more thing” I say “ If anyone happens to come in looking for a group of people matching our description could you forget that we were here?” “ You kids aren’t in any trouble are you?” She asks The three of us exchange looks trying to decide if we should tell her or if we leave it vague. “ I understand that you would be weary of telling me a complete stranger something like this but we fae’s are unable to break a promise” She states. “But what about the human part of you “ Nathan retorts “Its only half human but even then I will keep your secret” “My father wants to marry me off to someone that I have no interest in, all I want is an adventure and want to live my life the way I deem appropriate” I blurt out quickly covering my mouth. I am not sure why but I feel like I can trust this woman. “ Oh you poor dear” Evelyn walks over to me wrapping me in a hug. “ Sometimes parents only think they know best. Luckily for you I have a way to cover your tracks” She starts walking towards the back of the shop “Come on now don’t fall behind. We enter a room  that is painted a bright green color and has many shelves covered in perfume bottles, crystals and other trinkets.  “ Here you go dearies!” She holds two choker necklaces and a bracelet that have triple moon goddess symbol the two crescent moons are opal with the full moon in the center being sapphire. She hands one to me and the other to Tin. “ These necklaces will cover your scent for the man of this entourage I have a bracelet. I would highly suggest altering your appearance.” “ Thank you these are beautiful” Tin squeals. We all give Evelyn a hug as we start heading out of the shop. “Come back and see me! I look forward to hearing about your adventure.” With that we leave and grab a hotel for the night. The hotel is located off the side of the highway it looks a little outdated but it will be good enough to rest our head for a few hours before returning to our adventure. The room we got is a 2 bed  there is a little desk in between the beds with a lamp and an alarm clock. I set the alarm to go off at 6 am much to Tinsley's disappointment. Before retiring for the night I find it in my best interest to take a shower and freshen up. I would love to get the smell of bus off of me. I go in to start the shower and let it warm up. Tinsley pops her head in the door " Hey Amira Im gonna run to the vending machine, You want anything?" " Bring back something sweet, Maybe something salty too. Im not sure surprise me" I start to strip down to and step into the shower. When I feel some one  helping me to remove my shirt. I freak out and turn around only to come face to face with Nathan.  " Um Nate? What are you doing" I ask. " Helping a friend" he drags out the word friend.  " Thanks but this is a little awkward would you mind" I ask feeling a little embarrassed just standing in front of my best friends brother in just my bra and panties. Nate doesn't say a word just tosses the shirt on the sink and walks out .  I step into the shower and start to wash away all the smells and the anxiety that is pinging at me. What if my dad finds me? What if he drags me back home to marry Dalton? I start to shake and sob a little. Thank fully the sound of the shower drowns out whatever sounds I would be making. I love my daddy but I don't want the life that he has planned for me. Eventually I want to find my mate, but I'm just now 18 and I want to have an amazing story to tell my future pups. The story of how their momma did what few people do and travelled to distant lands, sat in the beloved queens throne and explored the castles secrets. To tell them all the beautiful details of the enchanted forest and tell them stories of the people of the forest. I sit in the bottom of the shower just letting the water drip onto my body as I slow my breathing and give my self the same speech I recited before leaving my parents home for the final time. " You are strong, courageous, and if anyone was going to find this castle and unlock its secrets it will be you Amira Hope Knight. The once warm water now turns cold so I decide its time for me to get out, not looking as I get ready to step out of the shower I have the soul scared out of me. Tinsley is just sitting there with a big ass grin on her face. " Aw poor Amira did I scare you" she makes a pouty face and giggles. Tinsley has been my best friend ever since we were toddlers, as much time as we spend together you would think we were sisters you rarely see one with out the other. Tinsley has an Asymetrical bob cut and very pale blonde hair her eyes are just a blue as her brothers and she has the mouth of a sailor.  "Yes you did" I playfully shout " How would you like it, I sat in here without your knowledge like a peeping tom just to scare the everliving s**t out of you? You scared me so bad my wolf almost broke out and then we would have problems explaining to the manager why there is a howling going on in our room.  Tinsley bursts out laughing wiping a tear from her eye and holds up the snacks she brought with her. I got you a red velvet brownie and some pretzels. I take the snacks and eat them before laying down and closing my eyes for the night its already around 11 pm so I wont be getting much sleep, but ill make it.
