Chapter 5

One Child, Three Fathers, One Mate, Three Shifters

Luke and Mikey, Atticus's right-hand men, looked wordlessly at each other.

They arrived at Grace's house and knocked on the door. This time, Serene opened the door. Confused about the three men standing at the door, she looked at them and forgot to invite them, making them awkward.

Atticus broke the silence and let himself in.

Serene pouted and then closed the door.

The three men came with gifts and dropped them on the table. Grace came out of the kitchen to see another set of men.

Twice in a row, she sighed and looked at Serene. "This child has so many suitors."

She looked at Atticus and thought that his appearance was intimidating,but not like that of the first man. She was old enough to know that these people were not ordinary people.

She offered them tea. "So what do you want from my household?" She said this after sipping her tea.

Seeing Atticus's deep gaze on Serene,she noted to herself that their intentions were so pure.

Atticus did not sip his tea; he looked directly at Serene and said, "I'm the father of her child."

Grace: ????

Serene:......

"Ha, two people have come to claim the child in her womb; it seems like their thoughts aren't that simple."

She gave him a smile, but it wasn't a smile.

"Sorry, gentlemen, but Serene isn't going anywhere; she's with me."

Atticus intimidating gaze landed on Grace,who tried to return it but failed. She slowly put her gaze somewhere else.

"I'm her mate."

The word mate confused Graced, but Luke quickly explained before she misunderstood.

"My boss meant to say wife, like a life partner."

Atticus ignored Grace and walked towards Serene. Je brought out an emerald necklace and put it around her hair.

"Beautiful,you are beautiful," he whispered to her, making her jolt. He brushed her hair from her face.

The emerald necklace seems to have some effect on her; her golden hair glows, illuminating the room.

They all gasped, including Atticus, whose stoic face showed a hint of surprise.

He did not expect it to be true. The emerald necklace was an ancient treasure. The people from the spirit guardian village usually wore this type of necklace.

His eyes became deep as he stared at Serene with a complicated look.

He signaled Luke and Mikey, who took some cookies and put them in his pocket. They bowed slightly to Grace for her hospitality.

"I don't know these two men are here to try to claim Serene's baby," Grace muttered under her breath.

Atticus paused his movement. He heard what Grace said. As a vampire, his hearing ability was far superior to that of humans.

He patted Serene's hair, but she removed his hand from her hair and said, "No, touch..."

Mikey found her action cute and giggled a little before Luke gave him the stupid look.

Atticus chuckled when he saw the girl's resistance.

Not feeling offended, he said calmly, "I'll see you later."

Serene refused "Don't..."

She slammed the door in their faces.

Mikey:....

Luke: ???

Atticus: ...???

Serene went to meet Grace to explain themselves:I don't know them; I'm scared." She hugged her tightly.

Grace patted her back. Even though she was confused,from their demeanor,they weren't ordinary people. It seems like she has to move out with Serene to a new city.

She thought to herself and comforted the crying Serene.

Meanwhile, inside the meeting room again, Aurelius had his cahier backing the employees. When he turned his chair, they immediately avoided his gaze.

"Come out and explain to me what happened with my project." His cold gaze swept across the room,from one person to another.

They all knew that he wasn't really asking for an explanation; it was about who would take the fall. They looked at each other. Just when people were about to raise their hands, Karl's mind linked his.

Although his face was expressionless, one could still feel the coldness in between his brows. She frowned, she frown making their hearts skip beats in unison.

"Dismissed," he stood up elegantly. Even the way he stood up and the way he walked carried an air of nobility that was hard to ignore.

After he left, everyone finally released the breath they were holding.

Inside the car, Karl handed over a document to Aurelius while Vinn had his hands on the steering wheel.

Karl gave the full information while Aurelius flipped through the pages.

"From the information I got, she was admitted to a mental hospital at 7 after her mother's death, and she claimed that she was killed by a creature."

Aurelius did not have any expression on his face, but Karl and Vinn felt the anger brewing inside him. Karl frowned in pain.

He looked at Aurelius, unsure whether to continue or stop.

"Continue," he said with a serious tone. His ink eyes became even darker, adding to his handsome looks.

Karl swallowed his saliva before continuing, "When she came back, her stepmother and sister had already moved in; they did not make things easy for her. Sometimes her stepmother, Aline, tortured her while her father turned a blind eye to it all. "He finished his words in a breath.

Aurelius made a mental note of the name Aline.

"Let's visit Serene's old house," he commanded. He closed his eyes, thinking about how to return the favor.

Curry saw the latest edition of the Maybach car parked in her compound. She was surprised but then became excited.

Without checking who was inside the car, she went inside and informed her husband.

Liam was confused; he wasn't expecting anyone.

Aline came downstairs and met Aurelius standing at the door. She was stunned. Her cheeks had a shade of blush on them.

Karl looked at Aline, and he felt her reaction was overexaggerated.

Vinn didn't even look at her.

"Is this how you treat guests?" Aurelius said before walking in without her permission.

Aline was embarrassed by Aurelius's words but covered it up with admiration. She walked inside and greeted Aurelius. She called her mom and dad down.

Karl was angry at such bland disrespect. In his park, he was third in command,and yet this insignificant girl dared to ignore him.

He noted to avoid such people.

Aurelius unceremoniously sat down comfortably.

Liam was flustered by Aurelius attitude; he pinched Curry to get tea.

"May I know who you are and what you want from my household?" He asked politely and cautiously so as not to offend this unknown person.

Aurelius's pitch-black eyes fell on Liam, making him uncomfortable in his seat.

Aurelius's magnetic voice echoed in the sitting room: " To return a favor."

Aline got excited at the thought of marrying such a handsome man. She sat close to him and tried to hook her hands around him, but Aurelius's glare scared her off.

Liam was still unsure about what to say next. Something about these people made him feel uneasy.

Vinn passed his business card to him; his mouth hung open when he saw the name on the card.

Of course, he was in the business cycle, so it's normal for him to know this person. But who would have thought that he would actually meet him?

He got excited in his heart, and he secretly wished that it was for a business cooperation. This would take his small-scale business to a new level.

His greedy eyes met Aurelius's. He smirked after seeing the look on Liam's face.

"What favor do I owe to you, Mr. Poseidon?".

Just as he finished his words, some men came inside. They went directly and captured Liam and Curry, who were still inside the kitchen.

"You owe Serene," Aurelius said coldly before leaving with his people.

Aline was stunned. Before she could react, her parents were taken away by Aurelius's men.

She screamed

"Ahhhhh!"
