Chapter 4

Mate, please speak a language I can understand.

Aurelius was incredibly fast in signing the necessary documents. He wanted to finally see his mate, and though he felt bad about what happened,maybe he shouldn't have touched her.

After all, he's the reason why she got humiliated. Just thinking about what Serene went through,he tightened his grip on the pen.

"Damn it," he cursed.

His woof has been restless for the past two months,but now the excitement of meeting his mate has filled his heart.

He used his hands to cover his face when he thought of Serene's expression that night.

"Those scenes are replaying in my head."

"Vinn"

"Yes, sir, prepare the car; we are going out," he said, taking his trench coat.

Karl saw Aurelius approaching. He thought of something and asked, "Boss,why are you happy?"

He earned a growl from him, kept his mouth shut, and linked his mind to Vinn, who blocked him off. He looked at him with resentment and then pouted.

"Who's there? Coming "

Granny Grace opened the door to see two handsome men and did not see the third one.

Vinn, being the most decent one, spoke up first: "Good day, ma. We are looking for a girl with golden hair; she's tall and has fair skin."

Granny Grace's gaze squinted as she stared at them repeatedly, making Vinn uncomfortable, while Aurelius stood there unfazed.

Seeing that the old woman was not answering, Aurelius directly entered the house.

How could he stay still when his mate was inside the house? He just disregarded the owner of the house.

Grace looked at Aurelius and back at Vinn.

Vinn smiled awkwardly. "Sorry, but it's kind of urgent."

Grace remained silent and went to look for Serene.

Meanwhile, Serene was sitting under the peach tree in the yard when she noticed Karl walk in in his wolf form. She got startled but didn't make a move. She watched as Karl approached her and sat down like a dog waiting for a pat from its master.

When Aurelius walked in, he saw Serene's scared expression. It stings his heart. Her pale face was filled with anxiety.

How much did she go through? He asked himself, probably guessing the answer.

"Back off," his voice rang in Karl's head. He turned to see his Alpha.

"Alpha, I think she can see me," he said to him through the mind link.

"Go and shift to your human form before you come back here."

"Yes, alpha" Karl walked away dejected. He enjoyed looking at Serene's scared face.

Serene finally relaxed a little bit and soon tense up again after seeing Aurelius. If she's correct, he should be like those people,right?

Aurelius slowly approached Serene, while Vinn kept Granny Grace occupied.

He finally got to where she was sitting and sat down with her. Serene stared at the strange man with alertness, which broke his heart.

She's traumatized,he noted to himself and to her little details about her. She looked very weak and could fall down if a heavy wind blew.

"Hey," Aurelius said, not sure what he should say. He really wanted to hold his mate in his arms and keep her close to himself.

Nobody could think that the proud Lycan prince, who was never afraid regardless of who he was facing, would suddenly become nervous.

He asked Serene a lot of questions, to which she just nodded her head without saying a word.

He was heartbroken. He wanted to hear his mate's voice—her tiny melodic voice from that night. He wanted to hear her talk.

"I'm sorry, Serene,I did something horrible to you," Aurelius apologized with his face down.

Serene looked at the handsome figure close to her and felt a vague sense of familiarity, but she failed to recognize him.

"Serene,do you know about werewolves, witches, and vampires? Do they exist?" He was incredibly nervous when asking the question,afraid of scaring her off.

Serene nodded her head.

"What about, mate? Have you heard of it?"

Serene mouthed "no" to him.

"So, werewolves and lycans have a mate, the life partner that the moon goddess gives to them, and it's a lifetime something," Je continued while observing Serene's reaction. He found her cute when she twitched her neck and the look of confusion in her eyes.

"So adorable," he admired her.

Serene felt the man's haze on her, and her cheeks heated up for no reason.

The man carefully broke down the information to Serene's understanding:In short, you , Serene, are my mate, my lifelong partner."

"I promise to keep you safe from harm and avenge those people who wronged you and made you suffer; I'll destroy them all..."Aurelius felt his blood boil. He really wanted to crush the bones of those stupid fuckers who made his mate suffer.

He averted his gaze,so she wouldn't see the murdering instinct in him.

When she heard his word, she felt somehow warm in her heart. The only thing she got was that this man made her feel safe. She realized something, looked down at her stomach, and subconsciously touched her belly. Aurelius noticed her action, and his thoughts started running wild.

"Are you pregnant?"

Serene was unsure how to answer but still nodded her head.

Aurelius felt so much happier than before; no wonder her smell felt more unique than before.

Werewolves and lycans can easily tell when their mates are pregnant and their scent intensifies,and with their kin sense of smell, they can easily detect changes in their mate.

Selena was really favoring him, more as a mate than a child.

He hoped she would give birth to a girl who'd look like her, but his happiness did not last long when Granny Grace walked in on them and saw the excited look on his face.

"Are you the baby's father?" She folded her hands and looked at him. Before he could answer, she cut him off.

"Don't be so proud; do you know what she had to pass through because of the fact you slept with her and refused to take responsibility?"

Aurelius glared at the old woman fiercely, and Vinn felt a headache coming.

Karl just walked in and asked Vinn what happened.

"Find out yourself."

"What do you think I'm here to do—play cards with you?"

He fired sarcastically.

"I'm here to take my mate, and you won't stop me," he said without giving her any chance to react. He took Serene's hand,but she retracted her hands.

She walked toward Grace and hid behind her back. Karl and Vinn clasped their hands together.

Aurelius's mood dampened at Serene's reaction; he was too hot, but she hid herself again and only brought her head out to peep at him.

Seeing her resistance,his wolf whimpered sadly. He exhaled, "Fine, you stay here for the mean time. I'll come back to get you. Wait for me, my love." He smiled at Serene warmly before leaving.

Karl and Vinn looked at each other.

"My love!?" It seems like the sun will set in the north today, and when did that ice block become warm, even smiling?

They both conclude in their heads that their Alpha was crazy.

Inside the car, the atmosphere was very airy and silent, which made Karl uncomfortable. He adjusted his eating posture severally but couldn't find any comfort. He paused his lips and then looked at Aurelius through the rear mirror.

Aurelius closed his eyes. He felt uncomfortable about leaving his mate there,but he was helpless; he couldn't afford to scare her away. He thought of different methods on how to win a woman's heart but couldn't think of any.

He asked Karl who was the playboy among them.

"Karl, how do you make a woman love you and feel safe with you?" He asked with his eyes still closed and his face still expressionless.

Karl looked at Vinn, then at his alpha, just to confirm if he was in the right sense.

Aurelius half opened his eyes and looked at Karl, who was shrinking in his seat.

"I'll answer"

Unknown to them, the car that passed theirs was that of the vampire king, who rarely comes to the human realm.

Inside the car, the vampire king Atticus retracted his fangs and his red eyes turned blue again. He repeatedly practiced how to speak, leaving the people in the car speechless.
