CHAPTER ONE
'Like I said Bliss, always hold your spray and never ever leave Louis by himself, you understand me?' Javice knew deep in his heart of heart he had repeated himself for like the thousandth time but he couldnt help himself seeing as all his siblings answered his questions with was snort and tears and as much as he loves them, they were about to make him cry himself.
'Bliss, you understand me?' All he got was more tears and after keeping his tears at bay for so long, he let them out too and pulled his siblings into a deep hug, one that lasted a much needed forever. All through the hug, Javice and his siblings chanted the mantra he had taught them they cannot hurt us if they cannot see us and seeing as Bliss was done with the waterworks now, she pulled away from the hug together with Louis.
'Are you sure you will call every day and check up on us and take care of yourself and never stop fighting and ....'
'Yes Bliss, a million yes!' Knowing fully well she was about to ask the questions all over, he brought forth their monthly allowance and kept it in the hidden safe in his room.
'Remember, you need anything at all, you call me and the moment the chaos gets louder, call Marcus or better still run over to his apartment and never leave the door unlocked Louis. Make sure you always lock yourselves in; all your business is in this room and get out through the back exit only! Understand?'
Getting a positive response meant everything to Javice, he knows leaving his siblings alone by themselves while moving to college a state three hours away form home was not safe but what he did not imagine was the great fear he settling in the pit of his stomach because now, they had no one to protect them but the wooden door and the bar slides. Hopefully, their alcohol allowance income never runs dry and the parents keeps to themselves while letting his siblings be.
Seeing him deep in thoughts, Louis figured their brother would totally drop out of college for them if they showed any fears and with the biggest smile he could muster lightened the situation
'Jave, everything will be alright but before you go, you've got to teach me how to ride your motorbike.'
Throwing his head back and barking out his laugh, Javice, Jave for short gave him a much expected response
'You're just 9 bro plus Im taking the bike, I cant just leave my baby out here'
'What's so special about you boys and your bikes anyway? Its just a freaking means of stupid transportation, I wish I had wings like angels to fly all about'
'Eww, youre such a girl Bli' mocked Louis.

Tuning out his siblings banter, he could not help but ponder on how dysfunctional his family his, wondering how his parents even had the audacity to bring them into this world without a care for them did not only surprise him but annoy him especially because all they did was get high daily and take out their anger on them. Jave decided that if God could see them going through all these anxiety and undeserved suffering and still watched from his mighty throne without cutting his parents lifespan short seeing as they deserve it for all the pain they have inflicted, God deserved no reverence or worship from him and he was going to work hard in order to bring his siblings out of the fear of a home they resided in.
'Do you think he'll be okay without us there to tend to his wounds after his sessions Louis?'
'I dont know Bli, do you think he will smile over there too and come home to us sometimes?' answered Louis to her sister's question.
'He will, and y'all get your ass out, I need to talk to your brother.'
Bliss shrieking like a cat brought Jave put of his thoughts but the moment he saw his best friend Marcus, he put two and two together and figured he had snuck up on them to scare them.
'Finneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Mucus', sticking her tongue out, Bliss ran out of the room knowing Marcus would have tickled the crap out of her if he had caught her with the bad nickname he gave her.
Laughing to himself, Jave was happy his siblings still found happiness in little things, something he fought all his teenage life to make sure his parents did not rob from them. Seeing him happy, Marcus already figured he was happy about his siblings and decided to make him feel a little less anxious about leaving them.
'You've done a fantastic job J and if Alv could see you now, he'd be so proud of you and everything you've done even the scars on your back too bro'
'You think so Marcus, cause Im scared as hell to leave them by themselves.'
Knowing fully well he had much more to say, Marcus waited on him to spill his guts and that he did.
'Bro, I feel like I should just have taken on community college or something maybe even cut college off but I just know Alvin would be so mad at me for doing that. What do I do now, what if I come home tomorrow and Louis face is black or Bliss hand broken. Thats it, Im staying here not going nowhere. O my Godddd bro, I dont want to leave them alone!' A slap on his shoulder shut him up though.
'That's enough man, ain't s**t gonna happen to them, I still live 5 minutes away and I will always make sure they're good as a matter of fact, I have a spare room they can stay in. I'm here for them bro and you cannot renounce your scholarship, you put so much work in for that, so get your s**t together.'
Marcus was damn sure Jave was really thinking about staying and he wasnt about to let him give up his dream because his parents are a disgrace to parenthood and the whole world as a matter of fact.
Going in on safety questions and guidelines for the nth time that day, Jave finally said goodbye to his family while driving all the way down to a place with only his admissions in engineering slot and boxing career cast in iron for him, asides that, he wasn't sure what the city had in stock for him all in all, even without holding God in high esteem, he still prayed to the one above he has a smooth ride for the rest of his sojourn.
