Ever since I was a little girl I looked out the road at the mountains. I always wondered if there were people living in the mountains. Are they people like me or are they some kind of magical society? Who knows...

Oh, wait, Cirrianne does.

Goodmorning. Chapter 1.
"Goodmorning Sweetheart," Cirrianne's mother said the moment she saw Cirrianne move. "Goodmorning Mother, what is it today?" She asked knowing there was always something to do. "Today is a special day. We get to leave home and venture into the city." "Why?" Cirrianne asked. She liked going outside but she wasn't sure why they would need to they have everything they need in their city. Why go to the human one? "Because I've got one human friend and today is her birthday. You know who that is, right?" Her mother asked her hoping she remembered. "Yes, mom I know about your friend Samantha. Does she know about us though?" Cirrianne asked. "No no no she thinks we live in Canada. Everyone assumes their own thing when I say we live up in the mountains. I let them think what they want." Her mother Simphany replied. "Okay mama, I hope they never find us. What did you get for Samantha?" "I got her this beautiful geode we found next to the house the other evening. Your dad and I thought she would like it" Symphony spoke as she held up the massive geode. She could barely hold it up with one hand. It was gorgeous. Red, Purple, even a ring or two of turquoise. "Wow, she is going to love that!" Cirrianne said with excitement and rushed to put her snow boots on. It was a cold month in Washington, USA. She put on her thick beige coat with the fluffy white insides. It was always so warm. She loved being warm. She also loved using her powers despite the consequences. Her powers often made her feel cold. She held open the big door-shaped rock for her mother and they left the house. They got in their car and began driving through their city, Truango Truango was a skyless city. It would be pitch black if it wasn't for the string lights hanging atop all the buildings and the cars entering and exiting the cave. The homes of Cirrianne's friends and neighbors towered up to the tippy top of the mountain. Most of them were built into the walls. The road went straight through with a few smaller ones to get to specific houses and markets. Cirrianne and Symphony drove out of the mountain. There was a big door that was visible to people passing by but they never took a further look. Cirrianne thinks they must think it's some secret government operation and they're scared to get caught if they go in. Plus the door only opens from the inside. When someone arrives to come home they have to use a special car horn to get in. The door handlers know the specific sound and that's the only time it's open. Unless someone is leaving. The door usually doesn't have much traffic. It's surprising Ciriane left home today. She rarely gets out. Her father, like many of the others, goes out and works every day in Washington. Usually, the women and children stay home. That is for safety reasons. Nobody wants kids with powers home alone and no mama wants to take kids with powers out of the home alone. Once the kids are Cirriane's age. They're a lot more in control of their powers and they get to go to public school. Cirriane has had control of her powers since she was 13 which is young considering most of her friends couldn't control it until now. She and most of her friends are 17 now and almost finished with school. Her guy friends are preparing to go to work every day. Her female friends are preparing to protect the children of the city every day. As it is everyone's job. As Cirriane was deep in thought her mother had pulled into the drive-thru to get some food. "What do you want C?" "Just some chicken and dr. pepper, Thanks, mom." Cirrianne replied knowing they had very little human money to spend. Her mother was trying to treat her. How sweet. They sat at the window. The sound of the car engine was the only noise. Besides the lady taking the payment and handing out the food. Cirriane took a deep breath with the window down. It was an ice-cold breath but she didn't get to go outside much and she was excited. Her deep breath was filled with the scent of fryer food in the distance. Her mom got the food and they pulled into the parking lot to eat. "That was good, Thank you, mom!" Cirriane said after she realized she practically inhaled her chicken nuggets. "I can tell sweetie, I can tell."Symphony, Cirriane's mom, said with a loud chuckle in-between words. They left the parking lot when her mother finished eating. Symphony turned left out of the parking lot and began driving down the road. They took the freeway. The freeway was something Cirriane found interesting. It was so big there were so many cars. Were there really this many people on the planet? To the point where they need 6 lane freeways? The idea scared her. She was glad she lived in the mountains with her small city of neighbors. In the midst of all of her thinking, Cirriane had arrived at her mother's friend's house. They hopped out of the car and Sam ran out to hug Symphony. Sam was usually over the top always running and jumping and fidgeting around. I guess it's because Sam and Symphony rarely got to see each other. They were friends in high school and after that, they went their separate ways in life. It was a beautiful balance they maintained throughout the years. Speaking to each other only enough to be up to date in each other's life. Sam had no idea her friend was only a 45-minute drive away hidden in the mountains. "Hey younging, you've grown so much!" Sam squealed and pinched Cirriane's cheeks. "Hey Sam, I heard it's your birthday! You don't look a day over 25." Cirriane replied complimenting her mothers' friend. "Oh well, you're just a sweetheart, huh?" Sam blushed. "Yes, ma'am I am!" Cirriane replied. She loved Sam. Sam always got her the best gifts and gave her the best advice. "Let's go inside, you two get comfortable I'm making dinner," Sam stated. They all began to head inside. Cirrinae turned around to take a moment with nature, one deep breath and she too went inside.
