***Ivy’s POV***
As I floated through the cave entrance, I feel something inside me jerk forward, making me drop and land on soft green grass. I look around trying to figure out what happened and see that Ciara is standing in front of me. She walks over and licks my face, making sure I was okay. I wrap my arms around her, and she helps me to my feet.
“Do you know where we are?” I asked, knowing that she couldn't respond to me.
“No but it feels formuliar,” Ciara said as she stepped forward and sniffed the air. I was shocked that she could respond to me. I was about to ask her how, when she turned her head to look at me.
"Come on, we should keep moving. I don't want to stay in one place for too long." I realized my mouth was hanging open in shock at hearing her speck outside my head. Ciara chuckled at me and continued to walk forward. I shook my head trying to get the shock out of my system and followed behind her, still keeping an eye on our surroundings. I looked up and saw there were thousands of bright white stars scattered around us, it almost looked like we were surrounded by the Milky Way. I heard a noise to my right and I turned my head. I see the girl that I saw earlier hiding behind a bush. I tapped Ciara on her back and pointed in the direction of the girl. Ciara growls and stands in front of me protectively. The girl didn’t move from her hiding spot. She didn't even flinch as Ciara continued to growl at her.
“Ciara, I don’t think she is going to hurt us.” She stopped growling, turning her head to the side trying to get a better look at the girl. Once she is satisfied that the girl will not attack, Ciara comes to stand beside me. We watch to see if she would do anything but all she did was hide and steer at us.
“Who are you?” I shouted over to her, so she could hear me. She stood up straighter and smiled at us. She lifts her hand up waving us over to her. I looked at Ciara to see if we should trust her.
“Nothing can hurt us here and if she wanted to hurt us she could have already.” Ciara says, turning to look at me, then looking back at the girl. I nodded my head, we slowly walked over to her, still keeping an eye on our surroundings. as we got closer to the girl, I heard a strange crack under my feet and froze, I looked down and realize we were standing on a thin layer of muscovite. I stopped and reached over to Ciara, trying to stop her from walking forward.
“Stop, don’t move! If you move any more it might break.”
“What will break?" She asked. I pointed to the floor as it cracked even more. Sh*t we need to get off this.
"What is this?” She asks a little worried, as she turns her body to face me, it cracks even more. I growl at her to stop moving, she freezes, waiting for me to answer her question.
“It’s Muscovite, it’s a thin layer of rock forming mineral, any pressure on it could make it break.” I said as I tried to move back onto sold ground.
“How do you know about this?” She said with wide eyes, following my lead.
“When we moved to the safe house, my mother home schooled me, she taught me about different rock forms for science. We have to walk back as slowly as we can.” I step back, praying to the Moon Goddess that it didn't break.
“You have to break through the rock Ivy.” I heard a small voice whisper in my right ear. I jumped and looked round.
“Who said that?” the voice chuckles.
“You have to break through the rock to retrieve what you are searching for.” I saw the girl step out from behind the bush and walk over to the edge of the muscovite. She stops and smiles at us. I realize what she is about to do as she jumps into the air and lands on the Muscovite making it shatter around us.
“No!” I shouted as the rock began to break. I quickly grab hold of Ciara wrapping my arms around her neck just before we fall. I feel the wind rushing past us as I scream. I look down as we fall and see a bright blue light below us. I close my eyes not wanting to see the end. So many things were rushing through my mind that I hadn't even realized we had landed. I felt a lick on my face, but I shook my head.
“Ivy, open your eyes, you have to see this.” Ciara said in amazement. I was hesitant to open them, but I slowly did as Ciara asked. I gasped as I saw millions of stars flying around us. I watched in amazement as they flew towards us spinning around Ciara and myself. As I looked closer at them, I noticed that they weren’t stars but souls.
“Ciara remember in the book how you had to say that expression in the Morai language to open the doors to Papatūānuku.”
“Yeah what about them?” She asks.
“I think this is where we have to say them.” I stood up straight and began to say the words.
“Haere mai, nau mia. Haere mai, kuku noa mai ki ngā hūhā o Ruawehea.”
A light explodes in front of my eyes, pushing Ciara and I back. I buried my face in Ciara's fur as it became too bright to see anything. When the light dimmed enough for me to see, I lifted my head up and gasped at what i saw in front of us. There were four beautiful women floating in front of us.
“Why have you come to the doorway of Ruawehea?” One of the women floated towards me, her voice sounding angelic. I looked at Ciara and she nodded her head for me to speak. I stepped closer to Ciara, not knowing what they would do.
“M-my name is Luna Ivy and this is my wolf Ciara. I am the White Wolf. The Moon Goddess Selene has sent me to talk to Papatūānuku. I found a book in Helios' library. It told me that I would be able to see her if I said those words.” I watched as the woman all looked at each other.
“We do not give permission to outsiders.” She turned and walked back towards the other three woman when I heard a whisper in the wind.
"The White Wolf is welcome here, let her pass." I turned my head hearing the voice right by my ear again, but no one was there. The women that spoke to me stopped and turned around to face me. She had a smile on her face and I felt a little uneasy. The other woman joined her and they linked their hands together. Their eyes began to glow bright green and i stepped back not knowing if this was a bad thing or not. I felt a pull in my stomach, then Ciara and I were thrusted backwards. I closed my eyes, feeling my stomach drop. I landed on something soft and opened my eyes. I saw that I was lying on a white fluffy cloud and Ciara was beside me looking pissed off.
“Are you okay?” I asked, putting my hand on her to make sure she was okay.
“Yeah I'm fine. I'm just getting sick of falling out of thin air.” She huffed and I chuckled at her while looking around. We were in the sky above the caves. I saw Tobias and the group running out of them towards the cars.
“Ciara, why are they running, what's happened?” I asked, a little panicked.
“I’m not sure , I can’t reach Miles from up here.” We watched as the group made it to the cars, saw Tobias fall to his knees as he roared and howled. It broke me heart.
“What is going on? He seems sad about something” I said, holding my hand to my chest.
“Ivy calm down, they all look like they are safe and uninjured.” Ciara licked my face to calm me down. A cold breeze ruffled through my hair, I looked towards the caves again to see if I could see anything coming out of them. I sucked in a breath and gripped onto Ciara's fur, I saw a beautiful woman floating up towards us. She had dark green hair and a Moko Kauae on her chin, she smiled up at Ciara and I.
“Kia ora Luna Ivy and Ciara, Selene has told me so much about you. I believe you have been searching for me. How can I help you?” Papatūānuku said in a soft voice that sent a calming wave towards me.
“Hello Papatūānuku, it's nice to finally meet you. I have been searching for Gaea’s diamond Blade, I found a book about her in Helios' library. It said that Zeus cast it under the mountain but because so many gods and goddesses were searching for it, it was no longer safe where it was. He passed the Blade to you to keep it safe from other gods that were wanting to use the Blade for the wrong reasons. I was wondering, well Ciara and I were wondering if I could use it.” She watched me as I explained why I was looking for her.
“And why may I ask do you want to possess this Blade?” she asked, raising an eyebrow at me.
“My old Alpha is coming after me and my family. He found out that my mother was a descendant of Helios and knew that she would give birth to the White Wolf. The Alpha killed my mother and brother to get to me, he imprisoned my father and tested on him. I escaped and found my mate, but I have been having these visions. In the vision, I am standing in the middle of the forest surrounded by fire, my fire. My family and my friends are fighting to get to me and are dying around me because of it. Jack has found a way to control my powers and my body. He makes me kill my sister and then commands me to give him my powers. As my power drains out of me, I feel nothing, just emptiness. I am not sure if I die or not as I am pulled out of the vision before I see what happens next.” I looked up at her with pleading eyes.
“I see and what does the diamond Blade have to do with this?” Papatūānuku asked.
“Selene and Helios said that the diamond Blade would help protect my friends and family from Jack. They also said it could be used to defeat him. All I want to do is to be able to protect my family, I can’t lose anyone else.” I felt a tear run down my face and I quickly wiped it away. Ciara sits next to me and licks my face to help wipe away the tears.
“If I give you the blade and you use it, just know that it will come at a price.” Papatūānuku say in a warning tone.
“What price?” I asked, a little worried.
“All I can tell you is that if you use the Blade you will have to pay a price, I know not what that price will be.” I nodded my head in understanding, hoping it wasn’t something bad.
“I understand.” I said looking down at Ciara and seeing her nod her head. Papatūānuku raises her hands into the air and a bright green light shines above her head. A medium-sized Blade suddenly appears in her hands and she passes it to me. As I touch the blade, I feel a shock of power run through my body. I gasp, closing my eyes as the power runs through my body, making my back arch.
"Good luck, Luna Ivy. May the gods be on your side." Her voice fading away on the wind. When the last of the power flows through my body, I slowly open my eyes and I find myself wrapped tightly in Tobias's arms.
