Eve
It was time to go. My short trip to Blood Moon was coming to an end. The Alpha carefully led me downstairs, being sure to keep me from wandering eyes. Somehow, I felt safe with him. I thought it was kind of him to want to take me to a safer place. It made my heart flutter. I shook my head of that thought.
I was crazy to think like that since he was the one who kidnapped me in the first place. I watched him observe his surroundings as we made our way through the woods.
"When I shift, climb onto my back."
I frowned and he quickly turned into the red wolf again. His snout pressed into my back. I giggled and the wolf licked my hand. He was like a big puppy. I pulled myself up onto his back. He stood still for a few seconds. I took his cue and hugged him tightly. As soon as I was securely in place, he raced deeper into the forest, his paws sounding like thunder against the ground.
I held on as the wind whipped through my braids.
It was like a fairytale or something. I couldn't help but giggle. The red wolf slowed down after what felt like just a few seconds. There was a quaint little house in the near distance. It was a bright orange color with dark green shutters. There were wilted plants out front and a small, neglected garden to the left side of the house. It had potential, but could definitely benefit from more care. I slid down the red wolf's side and smoothed out my dress, taking a look around us. I heard the sound of him turning back. Totally forgetting about the shifting thing, I turned to see a nude Alpha staring at me. I began to blush and quickly looked down at the ground.
"We're here."
"What now?"
"You wait here. My Beta will arrive soon so I can get back to my sister's party. After the party, I'll come stay here with you until negotiations have concluded."
"What negotiations?" That made me nervous again.
"We have contacted Majestic Lake about sending you to their pack. They just have to approve."
I nodded and bit the inside of my cheek. The awkward silence was filled by the sounds of the dark forest surrounding us. I sighed and glanced around. Alpha cleared his throat and walked to the front door of the cottage, lifting the mat from the ground and inspecting the key he picked up.
He opened the door and sniffed around a bit. I held back my laugh. It was so interesting to see werewolves take such precautions. He waved me over and disappeared inside. I hurriedly followed, taking one last glance around me before entering the cottage.
As soon as I stepped inside, the old-like smell made me slightly nauseous. I coughed a bit, realizing how dusty it was. A light came on to my left and Alpha moved around the cottage, checking every corner of every room. I remained in the living room.
Alpha came back and brushed past me to close the door, locking us inside.
"So ... how long until you hear from ..." I was trying to remember the name of the pack he had mentioned outside.
"Majestic Lake." He walked to the back of the cottage again and I heard what sounded like drawers opening and closing. He returned wearing some sweatpants and a tank top. I was relieved because he was no longer naked.
"I'm not sure when we will hear from them, but they will send their messenger here when a decision has been made."
I nodded. Alpha went to the kitchen and began opening the cabinets. I could hear him muttering to himself.
I elected not to interrupt him and instead, plopped down onto the couch. Dust came up around me and I started coughing. Alpha was kneeling in front of me almost instantly.
"Are you ok?"
I nodded, fanning the dust from my face and trying not to breathe too deeply. He picked me up, carrying me to the kitchen and setting me down on the counter. He continued going around the kitchen, quietly this time.
I yawned. Alpha raised a brow and left me sitting on the counter. I heard noises from the back of the cottage. I yawned again, my eyes watering. I was really tired and it was finally catching up to me.
My body started to sway a bit. Alpha's hands caught me and I felt his arms wrap tightly around me. I leaned into his chest as my eyes started to close. He smelled so good. Something about this whole scene felt ... therapeutic. He gently laid me onto my side and I was fast asleep.
The morning time came quickly. A strong hand and familiar scent woke me from my restful slumber. I sat up to see Alpha just inches from my face.
"They're ready for you."
I wiped my eyes and frowned.
"Majestic Lake. My Beta will take you there tonight."
I sighed.
"It won't be a long trip. I promise." I finally noticed the Beta staring at me from the doorway. He had a smile on his face. I thought he was rather chipper for it to be so early. In fact, considering they were drinking and partying the night before, they were both unusually alert.
I eyed them both with caution.
"Skeptical, much?" The Beta chuckled. I offered him a smile to help lighten the atmosphere.
"Anyways, Trevor bought us some breakfast. Come eat." The Beta left us in the small room. Alpha stared at me for a few seconds. I shrugged and got up to stretch. He stood and left the room. I thought he was a weirdo, but I also felt so attracted to him in the strangest way. His lingering scent made me feel tingly inside.
After breakfast, Alpha and his Beta stepped outside to talk. I walked around the cottage, giving myself the grand tour. As I turned to head back to the living room, I nearly ran into Alpha. I hadn't heard him walk up behind me. I gulped down the jump scare he gave me and inhaled.
“What is your name, human?”
“Eve.”
“Eve what?”
“Wilkes.”
“I, Alpha Trevor of the Blood Moon Pack, reject you, Eve Wilkes, as my mate and future Luna.”
Just then, a sharp pain ripped through my chest, making me clutch my arms tight to my body. I screamed loudly. When I looked up, Alpha Trevor had his back turned to me, walking out of sight. That was the last thing I remembered before collapsing onto the cold cottage floor.
