Chapter 10

Aaron

"Love is a blessing"

I woke the next morning. The fact it seemed like a dream when I woke. I had to blink and wake a second time. But there she was. Sleeping on my shoulder. I never saw a more beautiful sight. Brenda. I smile as I hold her close to me.

I wrap my arms around her. My teenage broken heart over her was starting to heal. She had gone through the same thing as I had. At the same time. Not being able to get over me. She loved me. Like I loved her.

Would I be able to talk Brenda into moving out to Washington. D.C. with me? Or was I going to have to move back home? I was sure we had a lot to talk about. Because I wanted this to be our forever.

I know this was our first date. But I was already planning in my head how I was going to ask Brenda to marry me. We had just waited for song long to be together. I was sure Brenda would feel the same way I was feeling. I always wanted to marry her. She was and is my dream girl.

Suddenly Brenda rolls over off of me. She hugs her pillow. Smiling. I stretch. I yawn. I slip out of bed without waking her up. Then head downstairs. I wanted to surprise her. I begin to whip up breakfast. Bacon, eggs, toast. All of it. Then I get a tray out from a closet. My mother used to make us all birthday breakfast every year when I was growing up.

She would bring up a tray of breakfast to us in bed. I used to love that. I then get a glass of juice. I wait as the coffee finishes brewing. Then make a cup of coffee. I add some sugar packets. And then spoons with a fork. Then head up the stairs with the tray. Brenda was awake. She was sitting up in bed.

Her messy hair was piled up on top of her head. But her smile was bright and cheery. She looked as happy as I felt this morning. I bring her the tray of food. Then set it on her lap gently. I sit beside her on the bed. I kiss her cheek. Then reach over for my phone. It had a ton of messages waiting for me. Work would have to wait. Brenda was here. I waited long enough for her.

"Hey morning" she tells me. She leans in kissing me on the lips. Both her hands on my cheeks as she does. I smile as she kisses me. My heart feeling full of love for her.

"Morning. How did you sleep last night?" I question her.

"Like a dream. And you?" she asks me.

"Wonderful. I made you breakfast. I brought you coffee and juice. I was not sure what you would like the most. So, I just brought both" I chuckle.

"Aaron, you are so sweet. I love you" she replies with a happy twinkle in her eyes.

"I love you to Brenda" I reply. I smile at her.

"I had to say it again. The more I say it to you out loud the more real it becomes. I was almost worried I dreamt it all when then I woke in your bed. I was scared I would wake to find it was all a dream" she laughs. She smiles. She fixes up her coffee. Then takes a sip.

"Same here" I answer.

She feeds me a bite of scrambled eggs. Making me laugh.

"You need to eat to" she lectures me.

"I know" I laugh.

I was scared to bring up our future so fast. But I was so busy all the time. Now I had time to talk to her about it. I did not want to frighten her off. Would she understand if I bring up moving? Or being serious so soon? I sigh. How did I go about this? I was afraid that I was going to have to head back to Washington on business any day now.

"Aaron?"

"Yes?"

"What is wrong?" she asks me. "You look so deep in thought"

"I am" I sigh. My work was always on my mind.

"Tell me" she begs me.

"I don't know" I worry.

"You can tell me anything" she reminds me.

"Well I want us to see each other. Only each other. Start dating. I am busy so often. I honestly do not know when I will get the chance to sit down and talk to you like this. I could have to go to Washington. I wanted to explain how crazy my life is" I state to her.

"I understand that. I told you before. I want that to. Only to date you too, Aaron" she promises me. I smile.

"So, let's say I had to go to Washington or fly overseas. Would you be able to accompany me?" I blurt out. She blinks looking surprised by that.

"I suppose so. But my job here" she worries.

"You would not need it if you decided to move out to Washington with me. If that comes to that. You could. And whatever business you wanted to do I can help you make that happen, think about it Brenda" I ramble on.

"Aaron, you are right. This is a lot to take in. But I agree. I would want to travel with you. We just got together. I would not want to be away from you for so long" she admits.

I smile as I feel so much better talking to her now.

Saying it all out loud.

"Aaron were you afraid to ask me?" she asks me. I nod.

"I know this is all fast. But I am a business man. I had to think ahead. I did not want to give up what we just found" I say softly.

"You are never going to lose me now. You are stuck with me" she promises me.

"I hope I did not scare you" I worry. She shakes her head. She takes another bite of eggs.

"Not at all" she giggles. She feeds me another bite of eggs.

"Brenda, we have so much to look forward to. We need to get to know each other. We knew the old us. Now we get to know the adult us, the us that we are now" I point out to her.

"I look forward too many firsts with you Aaron" she agrees. She kisses my cheek.

"What are you doing tonight Miss. Vance?" I ask her.

"Spending time with my sexy boyfriend" she teases me.

"Good answer. I was thinking the drive in is open around here. I had not been to one in such a long time. They are playing Swamp Thing. Want to make some snacks after I get some work done from home. And go to the movies?" I ask her.

"Aaron, I would love that idea. That sounds wonderful for our second date" she says happily.

"Second date. You are keeping count eh?" I joke.

"I am. I will could them all with you. I look forward to our many many dates together" she says to me. Then she feeds me again. I laugh.

She smiles at me. She had a happy twinkle in her eyes. I had missed her so much. Now I would not have to miss her. She wanted to be with me. And I wanted to be with her.

This was meant to be after all. Now that I had her love. Her trust, now I was never going to break that. She was going to marry me. I could not wait to make her my wife one day.
