Healing the Alpha

3. Lucy's POV

After school was over, I was waiting for Brad and Mark by the car. School today flew by and for that I am thankful. It is always a good distraction because I have a love of learning new things. On the way home, Brad will drop me off at the pack hospital before him and Mark meet dad at the office.

“Hey smarty pants” Mark has always called me that because school never came easy for him, but learning to fight and train with the warriors did.

“Hey Mark, how were your classes?”

“You know that he probably fell asleep in class or was flirting with every girl.”

“Brad, just because I actually talk to girls, and you choose to wait for your mate doesn’t mean you need to be jealous.”

“Alright boys, no pissing contest today please. Brad, can we get going before we are all late for work? And Mark, you know one day your mate may not like that you have a following that is all girls.”

“Lu, come on, you know that the Moon Goddess pairs us with someone that is our other half, so she will understand.”

“If you say so, but I cannot wait to tell you I told you so. Now let’s go.”

We started driving while the boys started to talk about business.

“Maze, do you think we will understand if our mate has done something terrible? Or what if he doesn’t want us, or what if he is dating someone when we meet?”

“Girl, first off, why are you not more confident in yourself? And there may be hoops because of choices he makes, but you know that the Moon Goddess doesn’t make mistakes. Would you honestly pass and not fight for someone who is supposed to be your better half?”

“I know your right, I guess I just hope they choose to be like us and wait so that we can just have a happy life from the start.” Maze then just leaves me to my own thoughts. I know that she is scared of being hurt like I am, but she is right, the Moon Goddess doesn’t make mistakes.

After work, I walk the short distance to the pack house to shower and change for dinner. As I got closer, I could see my best friend Kenzie waiting for me on the front steps.

“Hey Kenzie, what’s up? Why are you sitting out here?” She looks as though something is eating at her, and I know it has to be bad.

“Oh nothing, just waiting for my friend like always. I haven’t seen you much, and thought we could chat.”

“I have to take a shower and change, but we can chat while I get ready. Meet me in my room in 20.”

“Okay sounds good, see you Luce.”

While I am showering, I try to think of the last time that we got to hang out. Maybe she will stay after dinner, and we can just hangout since tomorrow is Saturday. Then we can go to training together and just catch up. As I get out of the shower and throw clothes on, I hear a knock on the door.

“Come in Kenzie. I am just in the closet getting dressed.”

“Why does it seem like it has been so long since we got to talk?”

“I know I am sorry, between work and school and pack training I think I have just let time get away from me. I’m sorry. But you could always stay over after dinner and we could have a girls' night?”

“Oh, that sounds like a plan because I have a lot to tell you, and you are the sane one, so I need your guidance and…”

“Whoa, take a breath. We have all night, no need to spiral now.”

“Okay but maybe we can order pizza and ice cream like old times and stay up here for tonight.” Maze and I are both on high alert, because when we stay up here something is usually seriously up.

I opened a mind link between my parents and Brad. “Hey guys, I am going to order pizza and ice cream to the room so I won’t be down for dinner. Kenzie met me in my room and we decided we needed a girls' night.”

“Luce, you know she asks that when she has had a rough time. If you need us to kick anyone’s ass you just let us know.” I smile because my brother has always been protective of my friends and I.

“What your brother is trying to say is that you know that we are always here and we love you. Your mom agrees too. We love you.” My dad has always been my rock, and it is nice to know that they will always help and love me, no matter what the issue is at hand.

“Thanks guys, I'll let you know if it is something that we need your help with.” I then closed the mind link and ordered the pizza and ice cream. The nice thing about being in the Alpha family, or any high ranking member at that, is that we have the ability to mind link anyone in the pack. Members that are not of rank can only usually link high ranking members and their family.

“Alright, food is ordered, and I let my family know that I won’t be at dinner. So, what has you so on edge?”

“Okay, I need you to not freak out, and I need you to let me get it all out. Because if I stop I know I will only start freaking out or crying.” Whatever this is, I can tell that it has been eating at her. So I think I might need to brace myself.

“Maze, you might have to hold me back or at least let my mind stay focused so that we can figure it out and be here to keep her calm.”

“I am apart of you Lucy. You know you don’t have to ask. I am here and we will help her. You know I love her as you do.”

Deep breath, “Okay, I will stay calm and we will figure this out.”

“Okay. So you know how last weekend I decided to go to the full moon ball?” I nodded for her to continue. “Well, I think I found my mate, and before you get excited I don’t really know, because I was drunk. Everyone there had so much to drink, and I was nervous, so I drank more and before I knew it, I was drunk.”

“Why have you waited so long to tell me? You know I have family in the Blood Moon pack. We could go meet some people over there and stay and try to figure it out.” How has she not told me this? It is huge.

Maze pipes in, “look at her face Lucy, I think there is more to the story.”

“Kenzie what is it?”

“Okay, so yes the ball was at the Blood Moon, but when I started to sober up, it was not who I was with. I was with someone from the Shadow pack, in an intimate way, and I knew that he wasn’t my mate. So if it was someone else that I was mates with, I wasn’t with them. And you know that I wanted to wait for my mate. What if this ruins everything?”

“Maze, I am going to need your help to keep a level head and stay calm. What if someone took advantage of her?”

“Lucy deep breath, we can't go to worse case scenarios because I am sure that she already has. We need to help her figure this out and then we can plan when she isn’t here so we can try and figure this out.” Maze is right but this is so hard. Kenzie is like a sister to me.

“Okay, so what do you want to do? We can plan or talk all this out, but I know you have been keeping this to yourself for awhile. So you tell me what you need.” It is so hard not to take over and figure out for her.

“Lu, can we just have a girls' night and talk it through in the morning? I finally feel relief to have told you and now I just want to have a care-free girls night.”

“Deal, sounds like a plan.” Good thing the chef told me he left the food on the cart outside my room. So I went to grab that and then we put the Hunger Games on the TV and just let the movie take us away.
