My head was pounding when I opened my eyes.
“Aleks” I called out. He was always the one I called out in time of trouble.
He rushed to my side inspecting me. I heard the door close and I looked towards it.
“Are you okay?”
“Yes” my voice was scratchy.
“Water” i croaked.
“I’ll call the doctor” he pressed a button by my bedside and the doctor came in a few minutes later.
“Hello Maia. Do you know where you are?”
“Yes. Hospital”
“Do you remember what happened to you?”
“Yes. There was somebody in the house. I was pushed from the stairs” the doctor looked at Aleks.
“Are you sure? You were alone in the house”
“I know what I’m saying. There was somebody there”
“Okay. You twisted your ankle and we had to stitch the back of your head. We’ll watch you for today and you’re free to leave t
