EP 17: A LESSON TO LEARN

ALEXIA POV

The fortune-teller dragged Sam with her. Godwin and I followed them. When we reached the place, I regretted it most. The house gives off a creepy vibe. It looked like a burned house. "What are we doing here? Where is Bethany?" Sam asked. But the fortune-teller didn't answer us. Then, I remembered something.

FLASHBACK TO YESTERDAY CONVERSATION.

"You don't have to worry about anything, Alexia. I won't be around for two weeks. Stay with these boys until then. Make sure you stay safe," the fortune-teller said.

END OF FLASHBACK

I pulled Godwin closer to me and whispered in his ear. "The fortune-teller has left the town. She won't be around for two weeks. This lady must be working for the Master. We should leave now." "Where do you think you will be going, young lady? Nobody is leaving this place!" That lady shouted and laughed out loud. Sam let go of her hand and came towards us. "Let's move that way," he said. "Don't you hear me?" she asked. Sam pulled out a pouch from his pocket and went back to the lady. "Hey, pretty lady! Want to make a deal with me? I have some expensive things. Let's exchange it for a good deal. What do you say?" he asked her. Godwin moved beside Sam.

COVINGTON POV

Lexi was holding my arm tightly while Sam was making a deal with the lady. I noticed something. That lady had no shadow. "What? Where is her shadow? Does that mean she is dead or something?" I asked myself. But then I remembered the conversation I had with the man in the forest.

FLASHBACK IN THE FOREST

"Take this with you," he said while giving me a rock. "A rock? Do you think I can't find rocks in the village?" I asked him. "Listen first! This rock has magic power in it. When you meet a lady without shadow, that's your time. That is when you need to use this. That lady will kill your friend at all cost because she needs your friend's blood. We are now nearing the battle. Soon the preparations will start. Until you return here with your friends, make sure you all don't meet the lady."

END OF FLASHBACK

I let go of Lexi and moved beside Sam. "She doesn't need these expensive things. The only thing she wants is your blood, Sam." I said and came in front of Sam. "That is so smart of you, young man. I came to get his blood. His blood is the sweetest one, and I can revive myself again from his blood. Not only that, I can even control humans. I want my people back. For that, I need your blood. Come here!" She tried to catch him, but I used the rock I had. The moment the rock touched her body, her body turned into ashes. "Come on. We have to leave this place immediately," Sam grabbed Lexi's hand, and we three ran out of the place. Sam, Lexi, and I came out of the house, but we were in the boat. "Where are we? What is happening? How did we come here?" Lexi asked. Before I could answer her, the helmsman came. "Sorry. I took much time of yours. I thought you all have left on a different boat, but you guys are still here." He said. "Does that mean we were here for a long time? Or we were away from here for a short time?" Sam asked. Lexi looked at him and said, "can't you keep your mouth close for a while?" Sam looked at her most disgustingly and said, "my mouth, none of your business." With that, he went to the other side of the boat. "Let's get moving from here. We are running out of time," I said to the helmsman, and he went to steering. It's been an hour since we left the village. Sam didn't move an inch from his place. "You stay here, Lexi. I will talk with him," I said to her and moved beside Sam.

SAMUEL POV

I felt sorry for Alexia, but I couldn't control myself since that day. She talked bad about my sister. Now Bethany is nowhere to be seen. I hope she is doing good. I am willing to sacrifice myself for Godwin, but I don't want Bethany to sacrifice herself. She has a future for herself. As I was absent-minded, I forgot about my surrounding. I felt a hand tapped my shoulder. I looked over my shoulder, and it was Godwin. "What are you thinking deeply, Sam?" he asked. "I was thinking about Bethany," I said. "Don't worry, Sam. She will come back to you. Remember when we went on a trip? Bethany got lost on the island. We searched for her everywhere, but we couldn't find her. What happened then? She came to us on her own. She said she remembered the way she went. Did you forgot?" he asked me. I shooked my head and said, "no, I don't. And I still believe in her. She will return to me safely." I replied to him. "By the way, where did you get the rock? Did you know before about when to use the rock?" I asked him, and he nodded. We talked about random things, and I forgot about Alexia. "Where is Lexi, Godwin?" I asked him, and he said, "she might be sleeping?" Godwin looked up at the sky and told me to get ready. From his action, I could say we have arrived at the kingdom, but I see nothing. When the ship stopped, I felt like we have entered the magic world. A big fort rose in front of me. After a few moments, the fort's door opened and, many soldiers came. "Is the kingdom is underwater?" Lexi asked. "It might not. It is just unexposed to the world. That's it." I said. "How did you know it?" Godwin asked. I just walked past them. A soldier came straight to us and said, "the King has left to the forest. He said, you all are coming, and told us to get ready. You can rest for today. Tomorrow we will be leaving for the forest. We are all waiting for your command, Prince." he said and left the place. I didn't get a thing. But I just ignored it all and went to fresh up myself. The dinner was ready on the dining table, and I had a full feast after a long time. Due to traveling, I felt tired and sleepy. I bid goodnight to Godwin and Lexi and went to bed straight. As I was in deep sleep, I heard a voice calling for help. I recognized the voice. It was Bethany. I felt myself walking in the direction of the voice came. In a blink of an eye, I felt myself being grabbed by someone. I opened my eyes, and my eyes widened in shock. I was hanging downwards from the high wall of the fort. I looked up and saw an unknown man grabbing my shirt tightly. He pulled me up with the help of the soldiers. I sat there quietly for a moment. Soon, Lexi and Godwin came there.
