Chapter 13 The Warning

Kaylee's POV

Upon hearing his true identity, I didn't know whether to be mad or happy. Part of me wanted to hit him in the shoulder for scaring me half to death, and the other part of me was so excited to marry my mate. While we were standing in front of my room, I kissed him deeply. I'm sure he had a good reason to keep me in the dark about who he is. My dreams were being fulfilled more than I could have ever imagined.

After a few moments, Ace pulled away from our kiss. "If you need anything, I'll be in our room, which is right across the hall. Tomorrow Grace will move all of your clothes. So don't get too comfortable in there; it's only for one night." He shot me a sexy grin as he walked towards his room.

I had only one night alone to process all of these feelings. Throwing myself on the soft bed, I screamed into my pillow. Earlier in the day, I had thrown myself on the bed in anguish, but tonight it was out of pure joy. Not sleepy at all, I decided to explore my room. There was a huge closet that Grace had filled with racks of clothes and shoes. After a few minutes of searching, I found some cozy pajamas to wear.

Hopping back into bed, I started feeling sad that my parents wouldn't get to see me get married. Every little girl has the dream of her Dad walking her down the aisle or picking out a wedding dress with her Mom. It was the death of many dreams. None of my family or friends would be in attendance. I thought of the last conversation I had with my Mom. She told me to be brave and to remember who I am. I am from the Great White Wolf lineage, and the same blood flows through my veins. Taking her wise words to heart, I would be brave. Not only would I marry Ace, but I would also become Luna of Blue Mountain Pack. A peaceful feeling came over me, like a waterfall, and I slowly drifted off to sleep.

Pearl came to me in a vision. "Do not be afraid of your union with the Alpha King. It is foretold in an ancient prophecy. When an all-black Alpha wolf is mated with an all-white Luna wolf, their reign will be legendary. Their firstborn pup will become King of all werewolves. First, Ace must conquer Alpha Bane. At this very moment, they are planning their attack on the Northern border. You will marry Ace tomorrow, but then he must leave to fight this evil and fulfill the prophecy.

Sucking in a deep breath as I awoke from my vision. I have to warn Ace about the attack. Women were already busy going in and out of my room. I saw Grace giving orders to some of the women. "Grace," I said, "I need to see Ace; it's an emergency." Grace shook her head, "No can do Luna, it's bad luck for a groom to see his bride before the wedding ceremony."

I tried to convince her, "You don't understand our kingdom is about to be attacked."

"It was probably just a bad dream. Now you are not leaving this room, period," she said forcefully. "Breakfast is served in your sitting area. Then you are going to take a shower, but do not wash your hair. Dirty hair will hold a curl easier."

I ate my breakfast in silence and obeyed all of her orders. My brain was going crazy, trying to figure out what to do. While I was in the bathroom, they pulled me into a high sitting chair. One young woman started brushing my hair and asking me what style I liked. I had never thought about that before. "An updo would look nice," I suggested. She pulled and twisted my hair, and it felt like she even put cement in it. At the same time, another woman started doing my makeup. I told her I liked more natural colors (I have never been one of those glitzy types of girls). While we were talking, there was another knock at the door. Since there were so many people coming in and out, I didn't pay much attention. Looking in the mirror, I saw my Fathers reflection from behind me.

"Dad!" I gasped. I jumped out of the chair and threw my arms around him. "I thought you were dead."

My Dad started to explain, "I was wounded during the attack and couldn't make it back home in time. Alpha Ace came to see me in the infirmary tent, and he promised me that he would find you. Three days ago, Ace sent me a mind link the moment he found you and invited me to come here for the wedding."

"You mean Ace has been looking for me this whole time."

"Yes, he even lost his eye the night you went missing."

"What, he never told me any of this?"

"He probably didn't want to worry you, sweetheart."

"Dad, I had a vision last night. My wolf told me that Alpha Bane is planning on attacking our Northern border tomorrow. They won't let me see Ace until the ceremony. You need to go and give him a message from me. After all, you are a Captain in his Army."

"Of course, I'll go and find him now." He leaned down and kissed me on my cheek.

Finally, my anxiety was starting to come down a little. As soon as my Dad left the room, I was immediately pulled back into the chair. The lady who was working on my makeup was not happy with the new smears and smudges. I didn't care. It was so nice to have my Dad back.

When my hair and makeup was complete, I stepped into my wedding dress. The seamstress tied the lace-up bodice and buttoned the pearl button. Everything was perfect. I wanted to be married to Ace more than anything.
