Chapter 9 Found At Last

Kaylee's POV

Clutching my basket of apples, I was gripped with fear as a black wolf approached me. Oh no, not again. I am not going to be a prisoner. However, this wolf is much larger than a rogue. That amazing forest smell was coming from him. He walked right up to me, about 10 feet away, and laid down in the grass. After a minute of staring at him, my heartbeat started to calm down. He had not attacked me. Able to see now, I could see his one glowing green eye. Was this the man I had seen in my dream?

Gently I set the basket down and slowly walked over to him. Sitting down beside him, I felt at ease talking to him. In a way, he reminded me of my Dad—the way he made me feel safe and protected. I started telling him everything that happened to me these last three weeks. I even told him about my dream of the man with one green eye. He looked at me with understanding and laid his head in my lap. Instinctually I started to pet his head. Tingles flowed up my hands and arms. This feeling was like nothing I had ever felt before. In my mind, Pearl was screaming, "Mine!" I was trying to calm Pearl down so I could catch my breath. This handsome wolf is my mate. Never wanting this feeling to end, I stroked his soft fur. He was comforting me and listening to everything I said.

Finally, I felt free to let the tears started streaming down my face. It felt good to let out all of my sadness. While I was holding the wolf's head crying, he began to lick the tears off my face. My lips perked up into a small smile.

It was getting late in the afternoon now. "Will you walk me home?" I asked him. He nodded his head in agreement. Enjoying his company, we walked through the woods together. When we spotted the cottage, I turned to hug him. "Meet me here tomorrow afternoon at the lake." Now that I found my mate, I wanted to be with him all the time. Again he nodded his head yes. Throwing my arms around this mighty wolf, I never wanted to let go. "Come back to me, my mate."

Ace's POV

Nanook walked up slowly next to Kaylee. He laid down, with his head on the ground. Not wanting to scare her, I placed myself in a submissive posture (which I would never do). With my werewolf hearing, I could hear her heart beating fast. My mate had been through a lot and was traumatized. My stomach flipped as she walked over and sat down beside me. She started telling me her story. I wanted to talk to her so bad, but I couldn't mind link with her. As Alpha, I could mind link with all of my pack. When I take her home, the pack healer will have to investigate this.

The worst part was the tears she shed as she told me how much she missed her parents. I immediately sent a mind link to her Dad.

"Captain Douglas, it's Alpha Ace. I found your daughter Kaylee. She is safe with me now. It turns out that she is also my mate. Please come to my Castle in three days for our wedding ceremony, and bring any family members that would like to come."  

"Thank you so much for finding her,  I knew you would keep your word.  I am honored that you are Kaylee's mate.  Her family and I wouldn't miss your wedding for the world."  he responds.

That meant a lot to me, now I had her Father's blessing.  Kaylee was so beautiful, but her tears were like daggers to my soul. I started licking her face and nuzzling her neck. It felt like I was drunk on her sweet smell. The electricity was running through our bodies. As I was licking her neck, I found the perfect spot where I would mark her. After our wedding, Nanook would bite her neck to claim Kaylee as our own. The feeling of marking her would be unforgettable. Bitting, her would be an immense pleasure, not pain. I would be so proud to have her wear my mark. 

I can't believe this whole time she has practically been in my backyard. It appeared that Kayo and Lena had bought her at the slave market to set her free. Kayo would be pardoned for using the alias Fred. Now I understood fully why he did what he did. Also, I would reward Kayo and Lena for their outstanding efforts. Together with Alpha Sam, we have been working diligently to disband the slave trade.

Kaylee asked me to walk her home. Of course, I would accompany her back home. Keeping my mate safe was my number one priority. As we walked, she told me every detail, not holding anything back. I loved that about her. Honesty, bravery, and family were her virtues. Her voice was as soothing as a harp. I could listen to her all night.

My mother had been trying to mind-link with me. I was avoiding her. I'm sure she is furious with me for my earlier actions. Connecting the mind link, I tried to appease her. "Mom, I have found my mate. Make all the arrangements for our wedding and mating ceremony three days from now. Have the maids prepare Luna's suite. Before she arrives, I want the smell of those nasty whores out of my castle. Don't forget to replace the windows." She was so excited and squealed in delight. "Don't worry, son. I'll take care of everything." Good, that should keep her busy for a few days.

We arrived at Kayo's cottage. I agreed to meet with her the following night. Her arms wrapped tightly around my neck. It felt like I would die if she were to let go. Our mate bond was growing more substantial, and so were my Alpha abilities. Softly she said, "Come back to me, my mate." I told her, "I will always come back to you, my Luna." I wish she could hear me. Tomorrow, I will come prepared with some clothes so we could have a two-way conversation.
