Chapter 6 The file had been informative, to say the least. What had tipped the scales for her, though, had been the video message her mother had embedded in it. She could see things clearly now. The pieces of the puzzle finally fit. Now it was time. “Cora? Where are you and Jacob? We’ve been looking everywhere for the both of you.” David was the first player she would move. “Jacob was taken by GenLife.” “What. Why didn’t you call?” His voice had turned cold. Deadly cold. Good. “I wasn’t able to reach out until now.” “Where are you?” “Not important. I’m about to leave. Meet me at the GenLife compound.” “I see.” Any response she would have had was lost now. He had hung up immediately after. Not that she was in a talkative mood. She never was. It was nice that he had always understood
