Chapter17

He growled, reluctantly stepping away from my side. Hurriedly, I smoothed down my hair and stood up from the table to put some distance between us, hearing him sigh in sheer frustration behind me. Walking over to Vera, I noticed she couldn't hide the intense curiosity gleaming in her eyes. It was obvious she was dying to know what had just happened, and I knew this would become the office gossip of the week by tomorrow. "Tell the person to come to my office," I instructed, trying to sound professional while heading toward my door. My hands nervously adjusted my dress. "Yes, ma'am," Vera murmured. Her eyes lingered on Logan for a second before she reluctantly followed behind me. I rushed into my office and quickly took my seat. The heavy shame of almost getting caught by my own employee burned hot in my chest. To look busy, I pulled out random files and stared down at them, though my heavy panting gave away how fast my heart was racing. The door swung open, and I froze instantly at the sight of the visitor. It was Selena. She walked in gracefully, moving with an air of complete ownership that immediately made me feel small and intimidated. I couldn't help but wonder what on earth she was doing here. Her black heels clicked sharply against the floor as she approached my desk. Her white dress was incredibly short, the kind of outfit where if she dared to lean over to pick up a pen, everything would be on display. I wasn't even exaggerating. "Hello, Allison. I hope I am not disturbing you," she murmured, her voice dripping with a fake friendliness that didn't match the cold sharpness in her eyes. "Not at all," I forced out, keeping my tone measured. "I got an email about the new corporate update. The merger between your company and Ace's." Of course she knew. She was Logan’s business partner, after all. A bitter spike of jealousy hit me; it always felt like she understood Logan in ways I never could. "Yes." "Impressive. Why don't we make a toast to that?" She pulled out her phone and made a rapid call. "Bring it in." "Logan isn't actually here for a celebration right now," I countered, trying to politely shut down whatever she was planning. "Oh, I don't need him here. I want it to be just the two of us, since we both hold a place in his heart," she insisted. A man who looked exactly like a bodyguard walked in, carrying two empty glasses and a bottle of wine. Her words made me pause, a knot forming in my stomach as I wondered what she meant by sharing a place in his heart. Before I could utter a protest, she uncorked the bottle, poured the wine into a glass, and shoved it firmly into my hand. "I... I don't drink alcohol," I stammered, unsure of what was even in the glass. "There's no alcohol in it, I promise." Selena poured her own glass and took a casual sip. Reluctantly, I lifted the glass and gulped the drink down in one go. I just didn't want to look like a total party pooper, or the boring person Laura always accused me of being. Suddenly, Selena's expression turned completely cold, the fake smile vanishing from her face. "I know you feel like you just hit the jackpot because Logan is all over you. Trust me, I've been exactly where you are," she sighed, sounding as though she were recounting a tragedy. "He already told me about you," I snapped, firing back defensively. If she thought these psychological games would work on me, she was wrong. "Oh, really?" She smirked, looking genuinely amused by my defiance. "So tell me, what exactly did he say?" By now, a strange sensation was spreading through my entire body. A sudden wave of intense heat washed over me, pooling between my thighs into a sweet, pulsing ache. I was becoming incredibly aroused, and panic set in as I tried to force myself to stay calm. "He told me you're his ex-girlfriend," I challenged, holding her gaze. "You're in the past, so I have absolutely no reason to feel worried or jealous." I stood up, desperate to reach the door and find Logan so he could put out the fire burning inside of me. Selena bolted up just as fast, her grip locking tightly around my waist to pin me in place. "Trust me, you have no idea who that man really is. If you did, you'd wish you never met him," she whispered, smiling widely as she noticed the physical toll the drink was taking on me. "Did you... put something in my drink?" I breathed out, my knees turning to jelly. My underwear felt completely soaked with my own moisture, and the sensation was overwhelming. "Well, let's just say I did." She rolled her tongue over her lip and leaned into my ear. "A quick piece of advice: never accept anything from a rival. Whatever they give you is designed to tear you down." "Please, let me go," I pleaded, my voice cracking from weakness. The office door burst open, and the bodyguard stepped back inside. "JK, take care of her. Make sure she feels..." Selena trailed off, staring down at my compromised state with a cruel satisfaction. "Warm." With that, she shoved me straight into the man's grasp.
