Chapter 19

            Where is this place? Why am I here? It was in complete darkness and I can’t even see my fingers. “Erica dear.” A familiar voice was prompting me. I turned around to the direction of the voice. A dim light was leading me to the direction of the voice. I saw a kind and familiar silhouette. “Dad? Is that you?” I walked closer to have a clearer view. “Yes. It is me.” Dad replied. “It was my choice to sacrifice for you. Forgive Adam.” His voice was fainting. “Dad? Huh? Where are you going?” His shadow was drifting away. “DAD!!” I yelled; I jumped out of my bed and I was perspiring profusely. I was dreaming about my dad.

            I stayed in the campus library until late at night while listening to some Christmas songs. I needed some tranquillity; I was still thinking about the dream of my father. I walked back alone to my apartment because I refused to use Adam’s Land Cruiser this morning. 5 minutes into my walk I realised there was some footsteps behind me, someone has been stalking me but when I turn around there was no one else. When I suppose to walk into the dark alley, I hesitated. I looked around, it was so quiet and no one else in sight, only some wild cats loitering around the rubbish bins. I decided to take the short cut as I just want to reach home quickly. I heard the footsteps were getting nearer and I marched even faster. Somebody grabbed me from behind I turned around and saw Alexander. “Let me go! Let me go!” I screamed. Alexander tried to cover my mouth so I will not yell. “I just want to show you how much I love you.” Alexander whispered into my ear, I looked at him in horror. “What do you want?” I exclaimed. “You will say you love me after spending the night together. Just follow me quietly. I don’t want to hurt you.” Alexander whispered. “No! No! No! You are insane!!” I yelled back at him. “Help! Help!” I shouted for help.

            “I thought I asked you to scram!!” a domineering and deep voice startled Alex. I turned around and I saw a familiar silhouette in the dark shadow. “Don’t come closer. Or else I will hurt her.” Alexander pulled out a knife in panic. “Don’t you dare!!” Adam yelled while glaring at Alexander. Alexander panicked and stepped behind. “F*cker! You will never escape from me if you dare to hurt her.” Adam continued. Adam walked closer and told Alexander “Let go of her now!” and then Adam strike him with a black metal item. The item has hit Alexander’s hand and he lost his grip on the knife, the knife fell on the floor. Adam seize the opportunity to grab his hands, push him down, he was unable to move, and he relinquished.

            We brought him to the police station and recorded a statement. Adam fetched me back home. “Why were you at the alley? You followed me?” I asked Adam. “Oh… I waited for you, wanted to have a chat with you but I saw Alex followed you sheepishly. So, I decided to follow him instead.” Adam explained. “You have saved my life thrice.” I said to Adam. “Thrice is a charm.” He winked at me.

We arrived at my apartment and Adam parked at the front. “Do you want to catch something to eat? Should I bring you to somewhere nice” Adam said while his hands on the doorknob. I knew he was going to teleport us again. “No. Please don’t use your power selfishly. Moreover, I don’t have appetite to eat today.” I replied. He looked into my eyes and he knew I was worry about his life span. “I love you so much. I didn’t know I was capable of loving someone so much.” Adam replied while gazing into my eyes. “I love you too.” I replied and gave him a passionate kiss. Adam’s eyes lit up when he heard the word. “But I also know that you are hungry. We should drop by the restaurant nearby for dinner.” Adam told. We got up the car for a quick dinner.

After the dinner; I was back to my apartment thinking about Adam and I. Do we have a future together? Phone was ringing, Ilona is on the line.

“Hello dear?” I answered the call.

“Hello Rica. How are you? I am glad to get you so late at night.” Ilona sounded concerned.

“I am good, in my own room. What’s wrong?” I asked Ilona.

“It is about Adam and you.” Ilona replied.

“What is it about us?” I asked Ilona feeling surprised.

            “I am at your apartment. Could you come down a while for a short chat?” Ilona asked sincerely.

            “Well… Of course. I will be there shortly.” I told Ilona and put down the phone. I went down and saw Ilona in her Toyota. I got into her car.

            “Hello dear.” I greeted Ilona.

            “I will make this real quick as the Almighty Court could trace me.” Ilona told me while looking around to see our surroundings tensely.

            “You are making me nervous. What’s wrong?” I asked Ilona anxiously.

“The Almighty court knows about you and Adam already. They will act against you. You better be careful.” Ilona warned.

“Oh? What they will do?” I asked Ilona.

“I am not sure what they will do to you.” Ilona replied.

“What should I do then?” I asked Ilona.

“Please take care of yourself. We can’t stop them. I just want to warn you first. I think Adam’s family has reported this to the Almighty Court.” Ilona told.

“What? How could they?” I told Ilona.

“They have to report this. Almighty court will know this sooner or later.” Ilona explained.

“….” I was in complete silence for a minute; I don’t know how to react to this.

“OK dear. Thanks for warning me. I better go, just in case they could track us.” I told Ilona

“Alright. Goodnight. Bye.”

“Bye.” How am I going to sleep with such news? I told myself.
