Never Not Married

The Unwanted Visitors.

Being in the carriage for like ages ago,Lady Amber shifts away from where she seated,to the wild opened carriage window.

She is happy and sad at the same time.Her happiness is because she will get to see Edward after so many years they had departed.And her sadness is because she will meet Edward’s wife.

She wonders who the woman Edward had chosen was.Everyone knows Edward Isn’t a Lady’s man but who for someone to crept into his heart,it must be someone special.But also,Amber thinks otherwise of a romance history between the two new couples.She had heard of the rumor that Edward bought his wife from her family.She wonders if it’s true but decides to hear from Edward herself.

Arnold stares at his wife.He knew what was on her mind.Ever since they had been married,his wife had never shown him any sign of love but he did cared for her.Knowing who his wife truly loved,he hates him more,day by day so when he heard of the news of Edward being married,he is eager to congratulate his brother and also make his wife finally give up on ever dreaming on getting married to Edward ever again.

“You would better stay away from there Amber,I don’t want you catching cold”Edward says.

“You know it’s a special occasion”he added but his wife turned deaf ear.

“I don’t want us arguing today so___”

“Alright”Amber cuts him off.She closed the window and shifts to where her son and daughter laid.Even though there hadn’t been love,they had made love.

Her father,general Roland had betrothed her to Arnold since she was a child.

Her father doesn’t want anything to do with Edward because he is an illegitimate child of the family though the Late viscount is his biological father.

But what amazes everyone is the Late Viscount’s decision on the heir to his household.No one expected he would give it to Edward,not even Amber’s father,his close friend.

“It will take just a few more miles to get to our destination so do not feel so trapped here”Arnold says.

If not for his poor structured nose,Arnold would been seen as handsome but nevertheless he is.He has a bold face with tiny eyes.His wild nose spread in the middle of his face and then comes his tiny lips.His body is well structured,even though he hid it behind his clothes,it was still visible.

His wife,Amber,is tiny in every way even her stature.She is short but wild in behavior.She is the type of person who is scared of nothing.Though Arnold had always won over her,she still fights her way with him.

“Ma”Amber heard Selena says quietly.She smiles softly to her daughter and holds her hand.Her son,Carter was still in his slumber.

Carter is her first child while Selena is her second.Selena is just three years while Carter is two years older.

The carriage finally stops.Amber stares at the big house through the window.Memories of her childhood flashes back into her mind.

If only her father had listened to her plea,she wouldn’t have ended up as Arnold’s wife.She might have ended up with someone she desired,someone she had imagined spending her whole life with.

Edward watches from the window of his room.He sees as Arnold comes out of the carriage followed by his children and then comes his wife.

He stares deeply at Amber though he couldn’t see her well.His heart breaks at his sight of seeing his stepbrother and his beloved together but there’s nothing he could do anymore.It is such a shame that he’s still longing for his stepbrother’s wife.It is a crime he kept hidden.He moves away from the window to finish dressing.After dressing,he goes out of the room to meet his unwanted visitors.

Helena is nervous.She paces around her room thinking of how to behave so their visitors do not have any fault in her.

Iris opens the door.She was dressed differently from what she had always worn.

“They are here My Lady”Helena was shaken but recovered.She questions herself on why she was nervous but she got no answers.

She takes a deep breath and follows Iris’s lead.Before they begin climbing down the stairs,she heard the sound of children playing around.Iris had brief her on the kind of person Edward’s stepbrother was.Iris had told her not to smile brightly at him cause of the history between her husband and his stepbrother.

Helena sights Edward,he was standing in front of a man and woman.She thought of the man as Edward’s stepbrother and the woman as the wife of Edward’s stepbrother.

Attentions diverted to her when they heard her footsteps coming down the stairs.Only Edward looked away,he isn’t comfortable with being in the same room with Amber.

When Helena reached where they were,she stands beside Edward and courtesy to their visitors.

“It’s so nice to have you here Lord Arnold and Lady Amber,you are welcome”Helena said and bowed a little.Edward is quiet,he wouldn’t welcome them cause he truly doesn’t want their presence in his aboard.

“What a beautiful wife my brother had chosen,I wouldn’t think you would find someone as pretty and respectful as her”Arnold said.Helena just smiles while Edward and Amber remains quiet.

“I don’t feel so welcomed here”Amber said and it made everyone in the room look at her.

“Lord Edward hasn’t said a word so I think your words are otherwise”She faces Helena who smiles sheepishly.

“Hope the weather wasn’t too harsh on your way”Edward said.He invites them into the dinning room where the food had already been served on the large table.

Selena ran to where Helena is,she grabbed her by the hand,whining playfully to her.

Helena carried her up.She wraps her hand around her.

“What a good mother you shall be in the near future”Arnold smiled at Edward who frowned in return.

The silence in the room isn’t making Helena comfortable.Only if she knows the history between them will she understand but it bothers her why Edward seemed distant to their visitors.

After breakfast,Arnold announced he needed to discuss some things with his brother privately so they excused each other leaving Amber and Helena with the children alone in the dining room.

Helena sees Amber as the queen of beauty.She had tried relentlessly in looking away from her but it was effortless.She couldn’t bear the silence anymore so she thinks on brightening the mood.

“The little I know about you is making me curious to know more Lady Amber__I have little less to say about me as I am not so good in all but you,you are a vision of ecstasy,Lord Arnold is so lucky to have met you”Amber smiles with the little compliment.

“Indeed he is but I am nothing compared to you for Edward had chosen you”Helena now gets it.With the words Amber had uttered,it had fed her curiosity.

To her,she had noticed there was a chemistry between the two when they were together.

“Might we look around,I haven’t been able to do that since I had come here but it will be better if it’s the two of us”Helena is trying so hard to make a better conversation.Even though she doesn’t like making friends,she forced herself to be social so they won’t think of her as been mannerless.

“It’s been years since I had been here so of course I will like to look around,I wonder if the flowers near the lake are still alive”

“You seem to be fond of flowers,I am too__If I had known there are flowers nearby,I would have named them all”Helena chuckles.

Both of them leaves the dining room.They left the children with Iris and then begin to explore the small forest behind the house.

In Helena’s mind,the reason behind exploring the flowers wasn’t really to explore the flowers alone.Her intentions was more to find answers to her questions.
