Not Ever Peace?

Edward watches as Arnold climbs into the carriage with Amber.He felt relieved,not because of Arnold soon absence but Amber’s.He had tried to ignore her all through except last night.He had run into her in the passage way.He had simply wanted to ignore her just like he always does but just as he had known Amber,she had stopped him with her words.

“I didn’t think you would completely ignore me since I had been here,is it because of your new bride or you are just showing off your childish side”

“Stop it please,you making regret been happy to see you”She didn’t wait for his response before she leaves him alone in the passageway.

He had stood there,realizing how he had hurt her.What even hurts him more now is seeing her leave without him apologizing.

He moves away from the window,ready to dress for his outing.It was early in the morning,the sun should be the one brightening the world but instead it’s snow that’s dropping down from the sky.

He was getting ready for his new job in the town.Since he is the latest newest physician in the town,Lord Albert,the owner of a big care house had find favor in him.Since Edward had a remarkable result from his training home from abroad,he gets many chances to choose from any care house he wants.Of course he had chosen the best of all.

His career is everything to him.Being a healer gives him the satisfaction of helping people.The claim he has on the house is simply to put his brother in his place,he has no intention of making it his till eternity.He prefers living a quiet life with unending peace but his lineage wouldn’t allow him of that.

Richard is also a physician like he is.Though he specializes on the dead.He’s job is called forensic,a new invented way to detect if the dead is murdered or not.

He had followed Edward back home,wanting to escape from his family too.

Richard is the first ever real friend Edward had.He’s more like the only family he has cause his family isn’t a family to him.

Iris had done the usual things she does for him.He dresses up all in black like he loves to.

He heads out to depart to his destination.He met Steven outside,tending to the horses.

“Is it sick”Edward asked his coachman about the horse which seems to be down.

“He was not earlier,he might be lazy for a ride,apologizes sire for I need to change him to a active one”Edward just answers with a nod.He decides to step in for he couldn’t endure the icy weather for another minute.Just as he entered the first room to settle in,he saw his wife coming down the stairs.She was in a hurry in order not to miss her opportunity.Just when she sees him too,she stops on her trail.Her plan had been to burst into the carriage when Edward had already settled in but it seems she would have to give a reason now.She walks up to him,leaving a five foot distance away from him.

“Blissful morning it is my Lord”she courtesy not sure of how to greet her husband.Edward isn’t ready to deal with her,he ignored her greeting to settle on an armchair.Helena walks closer to where he was seated.She was thoroughly touching her dress,she does it whenever she is nervous.

Edward looks up at her when he sees she stood by him.

“Is there something you need from me”Edward said.Helena isn’t sure of what to say,she just stares at him.

“I..I was thinking..”she hesitates as she is not sure of what his reaction or response would be to her question.

She stood there,still fumbling with her dress.Until Edward stands up did she over cross him.Edward looks down at him,he can see how nervous she is around him.He wants to speak but Helena cuts him off.

“I was thinking perhaps I could get to stroll down the town,they are somethings I need to get for myself”Helena said.

“Iris can do that for you”he instantly replied.

“No..”she voiced out more louder.

“I mean It’s something I can only get for myself”She said.Instead of a response,Edward left her to go to the carriage.Helena tagged along not sure if he had approved.

Mrs Dougenis comes out of no where to stop her.

“What the gracious do you think you are doing”She says with a angry frown.

“Let her be,It won’t be everyday”Edward said from where he stood.Mrs Dougenis could only courtesy.She dare not question him.Helena beams as she enters the carriage after Edward has.

Though she knew it will be so uncomfortable for her but she is ready for any risk just to go see a better view apart from the house she’s caged in.

Edward didn’t let her follow him just because of what she said.He isn’t stupid enough to believe she just needs something

to get for herself.He has no intention of letting her go elsewhere other than his own destination.

Helena was planning to have a chat with him.She isn’t willing to live her entire life in silence in his presence.

She thought of what to discuss then she came to a conclusion.

“Am sorry for causing inconvenience to you my Lord,you must have planned a peaceful ride but I seem to have ruined it for you but please don’t mind me,I will be as invisible as ever”Helena said but she didn’t get any response.She decides to be silent but she doesn’t want to keep being silent beside him so she decides to say something that will bring out a response from him.

“I heard you are a physician..rumors had spread the first day you had set foot back to the town so I had heard it too”Helena said but gets no response.

“I wanted to be one when I was younger..”she chuckles.

“Being young gives the knowledge of thinking big”Helena said.

Edward looks up at her.He wonders the courage she had to wanting to have a conversation with him.

“I thought you had said you would be clearly invisible,bringing you along with me was because you aren’t a prisoner,what changed”

Edward said.Helena isn’t sure of what to say next so she just keeps quiet.

Edward on the other hand had a question for her but he doesn’t know how to put it down so he would not sound curious.

“I never gave you the permission to relate with our past visitors,yet you were all about with Lady Amber”He said while straightening up his hat.

“My apologies for that I didn’t know you were against it”

“Am not”

“She has a soft spot for flowers and so am I,we had simply had a conversation about that and a little about herself when she was younger”Edward becomes more curious when she mentioned the last part.Knowing Amber,she would not have hidden the fact that they were past lovers moreover it is also a rumor that had spread around the whole town.

“Her life had always been no secret to anyone,she chatters around”Edward said with a frown on his face.He hates how careless Amber is to their affair.Nothing is ever a secret to her.

“She didn’t say much,she only told me how she had took care of the flowers and..”Helena stops to stare at him.He knew straight away Amber had done what she had always do.

“It’s no thing of surprise,past lover is left in the past”Edward said and the whole place seems to silence.Helena has nothing else to say except to play with her nails and often glance at Edward who is well aware of her.

Neither of them decides to talk anymore until the carriage stops in front of a building and Edward had come out then Helena decides to go her own way.

“Where do you think you are going”Edward said.Helena glares at him,wondering what he wants to say to stop her from her merry stroll.

“Am not letting you off my sight,Since you said you had dreamt of being a physician when you are older,you might as well fulfill it..no is not a option”Helena silently curse at him.She couldn’t run off to wherever she wanted to go since he has his eyes fixated on her.She has no option other than to tag along with her dear husband.

“Today will be quite a day”
