A Whispering Promise

It's the start of a new day today, my first day with Frank Industries. I have to make my best first day today and have to look confident, oh well but there is a little nervousness in me when I think about Jake. "Rach, you can do it", and with that i get ready and head to Starbucks to get my regular decaff and I am ready to roll for the day. As i enter the premises of the company I meet victor near the elevator, "Hi, Ms. Rodrigues, Good morning"."Good morning Mr. Victor, how are you doing?"."I am doing good, welcome to Frank Industries, looking forward to working with you and your team".Victor seems to be very professional, which is good.He escorted me to my cabin which was exactly opposite to Jake's cabin. My cabin was on the 11th floor of the premises with a combination of sleek wooden furniture and a glass windows with a view of newyork city. It was all good so far, that's when I get Kim's call. Kim, "Kimberly Hanson", my friend and my legal lawyer, she guides me in all the legalities of the work. I, Brett, Jenny, Shaun, Rebecca and Kim grew up together. Kim has always been strong, opiniated and badass since childhood hence being a lawyer suits her, i can trust her with any legal advices for my business. "Hey Kim, what's up". Hey girl, I am doing good, where have you been? it's too long we haven't met. "Yes, you are right let's, catch up today evening, I also need to discuss a few things with you". "Great, let's meet up at City Vineyard at Pier 26, a glass of wine with a beach view and hot and sexy women gossiping, now that's what I say a kick-ass evening." Oh absolutely yes, I will inform Jenn and Rebecca as well". "Yes, you do that and then we can definitely discuss everything and yes also about the certain someone you met at the club." "Ya, this is another example of Brett not being able to keep things to himself."Oh Rach, you do know that i don't appreciate knowing things at the last right? So Brett, helps me being updated to things happening with my friends, nothing wrong in that OK, so stop being an ass to him for this." "Yes, Kim as you say... let's catch up today evening." We had a little more conversation about work and we ended the call, now I am definitely looking forward to the evening with my girls.

It was around 2pm in the afternoon, when my stomach started rumbling and I realised that i needed to eat something, it was lunch time. I made my way to the cafeteria on the 5th floor and entered the elevator. As soon as I entered the elevator, I saw him, the air left my lungs and my cheeks turned red. Jake, as usual was dressed in a grey tux, which fitted him well and his blue eyes were shining and had a glint of excitement while they were looking at me. "Hi Rachel, how are you doing?". I am good Mr. Frank, how are you doing ".Hey, call me Jake, Mr. Frank is too much business". Well, we are business partners, and it's business so I feel Mr. Frank is appropriate right!. He made his way towards me until we were just inches apart from each other."My people call me Jake, and I want you to call me the same as you are mine."and he said it again but this time there was no teasing or flirting in his eyes but a fierce determination, an authority and dominance. If it would have been any other situation or any other person saying me the same thing then I would have retaliated but oddly, I liked it and it gave me a sense of comfort. Definitely there was something between us, the chemistry was off the charts. Before, I could say anything the elevator came to a sudden halt and there was darkness everywhere with just me and Jake in the elevator. I jerked up due to the sudden halt and lost my balance, that's when Jake held me and I was in his arms. If it would have been any other situation I would have enjoyed this but getting stuck in the elevator is a strict no no for me as I am clausterphobic. "Jake, please do something, I cannot be here."" Don't worry, Rach I will call the security and we will be out of here soon." He informed the security about the situation." Security said, it will take 20 minutes,they are working on it." 20minutes, my heart started racing too fast, "Goddammit.". I started breathing heavily, and the glimpses from the past started coming in front of me. He abused me, he use to lock me inside the room for hours. No, no , no i need to control myself I can't loose myself. "Hey Rach, look at me. What's happening? tell me". Jake must have seen me going pale, I can't form words, I am too scared but I tried,"clauster, claust...". Rach, you are Clausterphobic? the dominant Jake was gone and now I could see care, concern and panic in his eyes. "Rach, just look at me, don't think about anything else." he smiled at me and placed both his hands on my cheeks and made me look at him. "You are Ok, we are going to be out of here soon. I am there with you." He stroked the sides of my cheeks, it comforted me. I hugged him and placed my head on his chest... I could again hear his heartbeats, thump,thump,thump... I was at peace and he whispered something in my ears. "I promise to keep you safe, won't let you happen anything." The security solved the problem and the elevator opened on 10th floor, nobody spoke a word and Jake just held me close to him and took me with him straight to the nearby cabin. He called Victor, and told him everything and told him to call the doctor. He still hadn't left my hand the entire while. I felt something, a shift within me, a comfort and his words were still on my mind"I promise to keep you safe, won't let you happen anything."
