CHAPTER XII: AZILong as I Love You

March 2016.

I took a day off from my work at the hospital today because I had a fever last night. I just laid on my bed and to kill my boredom, I played some songs in my mp3 player and opened my dummy sss account to stalk Milena’s account. I’m so pathetic, right?! When I started working at the hospital, I thought Milena would unblock me from her social media and congratulate me on my board exam and first day at work thru a chat message, but I was disappointed because I received nothing. And because I’m such a loser, I added her as a friend on my account with a profile picture of her favorite character in Adventure Time, Marceline the Vampire Queen. She accepted me easily and like all the Bubbline pictures I posted. From then on, I got updates from her without her knowing. I knew that she never had an official girlfriend or boyfriend. I’m secretly wishing she’s still in love with me.

I laughed when the song ‘Smile’ by Ronnie Liang played while I stare at the latest picture of Milena. I sang along with it, “I am drawn to your smile and every time you move, my world stops just for you. The song of my heart hope you will take notice my secret admiration. I love you without you knowing it.” I touched my phone screen as if I’m actually touching Milena’s face. I sighed. I wanted to send her a chat message, but I don’t know what would be the topic of our conversation that she’ll never know that it’s me. Then I got a bright idea! I added her brother in sss and when he accepted my request, I sent a chat to him, “Hey lil bro! It’s me your favorite sis!”

“Yo! What’s up sis Ellie? Long-time no see!”

“Need your help bro. I want to surprise your sister. Do you know where or when her schedule be available?”

“Sis is super busy at her work, but I could ask her some bonding time for next month then I’ll give you her schedule.”

“Thanks, lil bro! XOXO”

April 2016.

After my shift at the hospital, I hasten my pace to go to the mall. Milena’s brother told me that his sister will watch a movie, “The Boss”, and I hope that I could catch a glimpse of her inside the cinema. I was a bit annoyed when some of my workmates saw me at the ticket booth and dragged me into their group.

Cheska and Drei picked our seat numbers and when we went inside, they already dimmed the lights. Pat wanted me to sit beside him, but I insisted that I’ll sit with the girls at the back. I opened my phone’s flashlight to help the girls check our seats. Then I froze when I caught sight of the only girl who could make my heart jump out of my chest. She’s wearing a jacket and looks like she’s taking a nap. My baby Mimi is such a sleepyhead! Lea was supposed to sit beside her, but I requested her to switch seat numbers with me.

When commercials started to show up on the movie screen, Milena started to wake up. I poked her arm, lean closer to her ear and whispered, “Hey, stranger. Up until now you’re still a sleepyhead?”

She turned her head towards me and I felt her body froze when she realized how close our faces are! I could smell her sweet and minty breath. How I miss to kiss those tasty lips of hers! I silently giggled when she ignored me. She gave her full attention at the screen, but I slowly laid my head on her shoulder and intertwined our hands. I grabbed her popcorn, but she still pay no attention to me. I pinched her nose and she whisked my hand away and said, “Ouch! Why are you hurting my nose!”

“Because you are not talking to me”

“We are here to watch. And who are you? We’re not even close!”, She said and untangled our intertwined hands. Ouch! That stings a bit! I threaten her that I will scream if she would not let me lay on her chest. She knew that it’s not a joke because I could do that if I wanted to. Milena hated attention from strangers, so she didn’t have another choice but to give in. I miss her warmth! I quickly wipe off the tears that fell down my face and hugged her tight. She fed me some popcorn then I fell asleep in her arm with a big smile. I’m finally home once again.
