I pushed my nervousness aside and walked over to where he was sitting. "Sir, excuse me." He looked up from his phone with annoyance. "Yes Ms. Storm."
"Sir there is a problem with one of the rooms and the rest of the hotel is booked out." He placed the phone on his thigh and pinched the bridge of his nose. "What kind of nonsense are you telling me, Ms. Storm?" He fired back with anger laced in his voice.
"Sir the hot—" He cut my sentence mid air holding up a hand between us. He stood up from the chair and walked to the front desk. "I need to speak with your manager." The receptionist looked between us confused and picked up the phone and dialed a number.
"Sorry to bother you sir but one of the guests is requesting to speak with the manager." Listening to the person, she replied and hang up the phone. "Ms. Whitfield would be right with you."
Sweat beads were forming on my forehead from anxiety. The way he was holding onto the counter, you can tell his anger was full rampant.
"Hi, my name is Victoria Whitfield the hotel Manager." She said to Mr. Nightingale's back. When he turned to face her, all formalities were out of the window. "Axel, it's nice to see you again."
"Victoria, tell me why there is a problem with one of the rooms I booked?" He asked folding his arms over his chest. "Well someone is always making late bookings but however, there was a plumbing problem with one of the pipes in the room. And sadly, all the other rooms are booked out for a convention."
"Seriously Victoria."
"Come on Axel, you know these things happen unexpectedly. We can however reimburse you for the other room. And all the other hotels in a two-mile radius are also booked out." She said standing her ground.
"Fine but at least tell me the other room has two beds in it."
Two beds? Is he suggesting we share a room together? That's not what he's suggesting right?
Lord help me.
The receptionist answered yes and Mr. Nightingale simply shook his head. "Fine we'll take the other room but I'm not paying for that room either." He said as he went back to collect his belongings.
He walked off to the elevator. "Ms. Storm are you coming?" I mumbled a small sorry to the manager and the receptionist and followed him to the elevator with the room key in hand.
Inside the room, I placed my bag on the bed, while we wait for our other bags. I walked to the small balcony, overhanging the pool and the view was breath taking.
"Ms. Storm if you're finished sightseeing, we need to get these documents in order for the meeting." He said as he walked into the bathroom, closing the door behind him.
I re-entered the room and pulled out the papers he had given me on the plane. Between them were some contracts for an infrastructure and other documents. Usually he goes from one state to the next and buy different businesses. Whether its hotels, restaurants or even clubs.
Although he's filthy rich and didn't have to worry about money, he liked venturing to different business cultures. Hence why we're here now.
The bathroom door opened and a half naked Mr. Nightingale walked out with just a towel wrapped around his torso and water droplets dripping from his damp hair.
'Can this man be any more intimidating and handsome?' I sucked my bottom lip as the water drips down his body in slow motion. 'Darm'.
"Ms. Storm?" I've never noticed but the way my name rolls off his tongue leaves a puddle in my underwear. The things I would like to do to this man and have him do to me, should be illegal.
"Ms. Storm!"
'Yes daddy, you can spank me.'
He walked closer to me and stood just a few centimeters away from me, "Ms. Storm!"
I shook my head feeling embarrassed. "Yes sir?" I dropped my head.
"This is a business trip Ms. Storm, no time for you to be lost in your head." He spat at me as he turned on his heel and returned to the bathroom, with clothes in hand.
'f**k me, even his angry voice is sexy.' Yes, Mr. Nightingale is a handsome man but I've never had those kinds of thoughts about him. I palmed my face and shook my head. "Now is not the time Nora, get a frigging grip." I reminded myself.
I got up from the bed and pulled out my laptop and cell phone, placing them on the night stand. It was bad enough we're sharing a room but now my mind is filled with lustful thoughts of him. How desperate can I be?
Mr. Nightingale exited the bathroom, now dressed in black jeans and a white old navy t-shirt. Even dressed casually, he was hot as hell.
"This is going to be a very long week." I groaned out, frustratingly.
There was a knock on the door and I went to open it but he beat me to it. He opened the door and the concierge walked in with our bags, placing them in one corner of the room.
It was 4:30 pm and we had the first meeting in the lobby at 5 pm. Mr. Nightingale picked up the documents and walked out of the room without saying a word. I had half an hour to take a quick shower and get to the meeting.
I was now standing in the lobby dressed in a white dress and white wedges to match. Mr. Nightingale was seen sitting at a table, having a drink. I walked over to the table and he looked up at me with a look in his eyes I couldn't decipher.
"Are you just going to stand there or are you going to have a seat?" And we were back to the cold ass bastard he is. I pulled out the chair in front of him and sat. The waiter came over and asked if I would like something to drink which I just asked for some water. He smiled at me and walked away.
His phone started ringing and he answered without looking at me or asked to be excused. "Yes?" He answered gruffly. He listened for a few minutes and his features changed. "Please let Mr. Stein know I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Unlike him, I don't have time to waste." He clicked off the call and threw the phone on the table.
"Unfortunately, our meeting for 4:30 had been cancelled. You are free to do what ever you wish until 7 pm for the dinner with Mr. Knight. Or you can stay and have a drink with me if you like?" He asked hopeful.
"Sure, I would love that." I smiled at him playing with my thumbs shyly.
The waiter returned with the water and I ordered a martini. Since we had the rest of the time together, we ordered some food while we talked. He smiled at me and walked off to place our orders. Mr. Nightingale watched his retreating back, then looked at me with a strange look in his eyes.
'Is he jealous? No, he can't be. Is he?!'
"So, Ms. Storm what do you like to do when you're not at work?"
Our conversation started off casually, like two friends. Once the awkwardness was out of the way, we went back and forth asking questions and getting to know each other better.
I must admit, seeing this side of him really intrigued me. The things he told me about himself, I never thought I would know him like that. He told me about his parents and what they're like, about his sister and her love for animals.
His family sounds amazing and the way his eyes lights up when he talks about his mom just pulls at my heart strings.
Eventually the waiter returned with our meals and he smiled at me once more in which I returned. Out of nowhere, Mr. Nightingale spoke up and asked that the waiter be changed. I wanted to question his actions but I'm afraid it would change his whole demeanor.
I was enjoying his company and I didn't want that to change. This side of him does things to me I can't explain but I do like it. We enjoyed our meals with small conversations, then headed back to our room to get ready for the next meeting at 7 pm.
