Everything around me stopped. My heart stopped beating and my hands kept shaking profusely. I didn’t want to believe what had happened.
It couldn’t be true.
Nora couldn’t be dead.
The woman was heartless, but I didn’t think it extended to murder. Especially of an innocent person.
Within my chest, my heart constricted, making it hard to breathe. I slumped back into my chair, dropping my hands at my side.
“Now that you know how serious I am, let's get back to planning our wedding, shall we?” She gazed at me with a lopsided grin. Her lips pressed with a slight frown as she rolled her eyes at my current devastation.
It didn’t faze her. That she took an innocent woman’s life did nothing to her state of mind. She showed the opposite of what I felt.
