Rosa’s POV I stared at my phone, my eyes widening as though I had received a call from hell. “Emillia…is that you?” I asked, the words trembling as they left my mouth. “Of course it’s me.” she replied sharply. “You ran away from home. Did you think we’d never find you?” My mind snapped back to that afternoon when I ran without turning back. “I didn’t run away,” I told her. “I left because I couldn’t bear the thought of marrying Guadalupe.” Her laughter crackled through the speaker.
