Xavier's POV
For a few seconds, I was confused. I didn't know exactly what to do. “Am I still in love with her? Is it proper to do this?” I thought. She leaned in closer, continuing despite my lack of enthusiasm. Suddenly, something came over me, and I pulled her closer, deepening the kiss. It wasn't rushed; Mia had always been gentle.
I held her waist tightly, losing control, as she reciprocated with equal intensity. But then, I heard a sound from the stairs, snapping me back to reality. We shouldn't be doing this. I have a wife, and even though things may not be great between us right now, she's my everything, and I love her.
I immediately pulled away from the kiss, avoiding her gaze. “We shouldn't be doing this,” I said, unable to meet her eyes. “We shouldn't,” I added.
