The drive to the hospital was long, but Ethan still tried to drive fast. As he drove, he kept asking if I was alright, and I nodded every time with a smile.
I've always noticed this thing about Ethan. I don't know if he treats me like this because of Xavier's orders, or if he's just genuinely nice to everyone. Even with the distance between us, I still feel like he's the brother I never had. The times we've spent together make me imagine what it would have been like to have someone older to protect me from all the stress I'm going through.
Yeah, I have Emily, but she was never part of the family from the beginning. It's difficult to relate to someone we never knew, especially now that the family isn't ready to accept her.
