"Lucas, come here honey, the food is ready." Kate called her son while lowering the volume of the music she was playing in the kitchen. She prepared his favourite food and knew that her son was excited since the aroma of the dish was basically covering their apartment. She waited for a couple of minutes but was confused since her son usually runs up in their kitchen whenever she calls him. "Lucas?" She called again, but there was still no response. She got a little worried and walked over, only to see her son talking with a man in front of their door. "Excuse me, who are you?" Kate asked, walking fast to her son, snatching him away from the man who looked at her with an equal alert gaze. She knew who he actually was, Ace Anderson, the rich billionaire playboy. And she especially hated guys like him. 'Does he think just because he's filthy rich that he can just barge into someone's house without notice?!' "I'm Ace. And you're Kate, am I right?" He said with an ambiguous tone. He ogled Kate and saw that her and the kid had the same hazel eyes. He also noticed that she had a great figure even though she already had a child. 'It's good that she maintained her figure. I bet she would look like a goddess if she was in a red dress like what she was wearing that night.' Ace shamelessly thought, biting his lips. Kate saw his actions and was fuming inside. 'Just how shameless is this guy?!' "How do you know my name? And what are you doing here?" She queried with a scrutinising gaze, telling him that if she didn't like his answer then it would be the end of him. But before Ace could talk, a soft and little voice interrupted their conversation. "Mommy, he said that he is daddy. Mommy, is it true? I thought daddy was already in heaven." The innocent little Lucas asked with doe eyes. Ace had already talked with the little guy before Kate saw them. He was knocking on the door for almost five minutes and was about to give up when no one answered, but then a kid opened the door, and he was shocked to see the kid, since he was like a mini version of him. Hearing what her son said, Kate then glared at the man. "Can you please leave? Leave now or I'll call the cops." She threatened, but Ace just stood there grinning at her like crazy. "Go ahead, let's see if they dare do anything to me." He said provokingly. "Just what is it that you want?" Ace liked how she was challenging him. She wasn't like any girls who would swoon over him to get his attention. She was different, she spoke her mind freely and didn't show any hint of fear towards him at all. "It seems you really have forgotten that passionate night we shared. Well, I can't blame you. You were intoxicated, but me? I was very into it and gave myself freely to you darling." Ace said with a deep voice while walking slowly towards Kate. He remembered every touch they shared that night, although he had just seen her for the first time that night, but he was already captivated by her. He was actually meeting someone that night, a very important person. But om his way, he saw a man was harassing a woman in the empty hallway, so he just couldn't ignore it and decided to help. And the man instantly backed away when he saw him. He was a very powerful figure, so it's no wonder that people would know his identity almost immediately after seeing him at first glance. He was about to let go of his infatuation, thinking that she was probably already married, but then he saw the little boy's features that were weirdly similar to him. She examined everything about him. From his ocean blue eyes, his chestnut hair, his perfectly sculpted face, his pointed nose and eyebrows, down to his thin and red lips. She couldn't help but gulp when she realised how perfect the man was in front of her. Only that his attitude was completely opposite. "I-I don't know what you're talking about." She said, denying the truth. "Oh? But I think you do. Or do you want me to show you what happened exactly that night to relieve your memory?" Ace closed the gap between them and whispered in her ears. Kate's face instantly started heating up, her cheeks turning pink as she tried to get rid of the filthy images that kept playing in her mind. When she finally regained her composure, she pushed Ace away and glared at him. She then turned towards Lucas who was watching them the whole time and kneeled in front of him so that she could level with him. "Honey, me and uncle here are gonna have a chat. Can you be a good boy and go to your room? You can eat one of your chocolates there." Kate ushered her son to go inside his room so that he wouldn't hear their conversation. The boy just nodded his head briskly and ran to his room. Ace saw their display of affection and was jealous since he felt like he should be joining them. He just silently stared at what was happening, and when the boy was gone, Kate's calm nature finally evaporated to dust and she looked fiercely at him. "Fine, I now remember everything. And yes, you are Lucas' father. But we don't need you, so can you please just leave us alone." Kate snarked at him, wanting to get her point across. 'I survived five years and raised my son well without you. Why the hell would I need you now?!' "I'm his father, and I have an obligation to him and especially to you. So I need you to come live with me so I can take care of both of you." Ace's face was now serious. He was confident when he walked in the house to take the mother and son with him, and he's not leaving the building without them. Kate was left speechless about what he said. She wanted to argue with him, but she also understood where he was coming from. But hell no will she agree! She knew this man's background, and it was messy, he would only bring danger to her son. "You're a powerful figure in society. How do you think people would react if they knew about this? And I watched dramas. I'm sure your family will just give us a hard time. So please, if you really care about Lucas, just leave us be." She said and thought that he would at least consider what she was saying, but was shocked again when he instantly said "No". "No?" "Yes. I want you to live with me. I can protect you and no one will dare to harm you. Not while I'm here and breathing. And as for your status, I have given it a thought and we should just get married so you won't have future problems with my family." Ace spoke with a resolute voice, trying to persuade her to go with him. "Are you crazy?!" Kate yelled. "Shhh…the kid will hear you screaming." He raised his finger to his mouth to tell her to lower her voice down, which irked Kate even more. It was like he was playing with her. "And yes, I'm probably crazy, so if you don't want to see me go to extreme measures, just come with me, so I can finally take care of you and our son." He said, his eyes glowing. But when he saw that she was being unresponsive, his mind ticked and was finally resolved on going with his second plan. "If you don't want to come with me willingly, then, I just have to use a little force on you then." He said and fetched his phone in his pocket, calling someone. "Come here." He said on the phone with a dark voice and eyed her with a grin. 'What is he planning?' Kate thought to herself, and just as she was about to ask what he was doing, a guy dressed in a black suit barged in her house, and stood behind Ace. Kate was about to make a run for it when a hand grabbed her wrist, and she was suddenly hauled in Ace's shoulder. "Let me go! Let me go, you bastard!" She kept hitting his back, but it seemed like he was made of stone, since he didn't even flinch as she threw some punches. "Carter, fetch my son in his room and take him to the mansion. And if I see even a tiny scratch on him, you know what'll happen." Ace ordered with a dark expression before leaving with Kate, and Carter, his right-hand man, did as he was instructed. "You took away my chance to be with my child for five years. Now I'll make sure to punish you for that darling." Ace stopped midway and breathed in her ears. And the horrified look Kate gave him after hearing what he said ignited his desire even more. And he continued walking with heavy steps.
