Light.
The light shone down and she was afraid. She approached but did not go into the light. The devil sulked walking away. After seeing where she was buried they had returned. Now the light called to her. She felt frozen, unable to move towards this wonder. After a time the light shut off, as if by a hidden switch somewhere. Was that it? she wanted to ask, the light, Heaven? The devil had disappeared for now. She felt elated that the light had come to her at last. Proof at last of something more than this. It was the kind of light that warms your face. Where you know you are safe and cared for. So why did I not set foot in it ?, she thought. Somehow she knows if she steps into the light, that would be it life over. I'm hanging on, she thought. The devil came to her then and took her hand. '
