Chapter 5••The tour

1290 Words
Alisa POV “Rise and shine, sunshine!” Alex shouted whilst whipping my cover off. “Oh, my goddess Alex. What time is it?” I groggily asked, reaching for my cover. Mornings are not my strong suit. He slapped my hand away, making me sit up and stretch my arms out above my head. “Time to take you out and get used to the early mornings. You get your wolf soon. I thought you wanted to train?” “I do, but my goddess, does it have to be so early?” I couldn’t help the huge yawn, why Alex was so cheerful at this ungodly hour. I do not know, but it should be against the law. “You have 15 minutes to get your ass out of bed and get dressed, and then I’m gonna show you around. I have an appointment at noon that I can’t miss so if you want the grand tour get up!” He threw the cover back at me covering my head before leaving the room, he left the bedroom door open meaning I had to get out to close it. I slowly swung my feet out of bed and got up. I pushed the door closed before browsing through my closet and grabbing a pair of denim shorts and a white tank top. That should be ok for the tour of the pack territory. I grabbed my blue converse and went down the hallway to the bathroom to have a quick shower and brush my teeth. I was too tired to dry my hair, so I left it to dry naturally. It was naturally wavy and always looked nice when I let it air dry anyway. Downstairs, Alex was sitting on the sofa looking at his watch, waiting for me. “Do I have time for coffee and breakfast?” I asked. Knowing the answer already. “I’ll take you out for some. There’s a nice little cafe we can go to.” “Cool,” I giddily answered. Alex took me to the cutest little cafe. It had some tables and chairs outside with flower boxes along the windows and hanging by the door. The smell coming from inside made my mouth instantly water. “Inside or out?” Alex asked. “It’s a beautiful day, so outside.” “Ok, go sit down and I'll order for you.” “What if I don’t like it?” “You will trust me!” Alex went inside and I sat watching people go about their lives. Some young kids were running past, shouting about being late for school just as Alex came back. He had gotten me a mouth-watering croissant that literally melted in my mouth and a blueberry muffin the size of his fist. That was the tastiest thing I’ve ever eaten. “I wasn’t sure about your coffee so I got one black and one white. I’ll have the other that you don’t,” he said as he placed the coffee in front of me. “Black please, any sugar?” “Here you go.” “Thank you, Alex,” “You're welcome, enjoy.” After we had eaten, Alex showed me around the village. I got to see the houses where the pack members lived and even went into a few of the stores. It was amazing. It was like a cute little town in the middle of the forest. We went past the school, pack house, and the pack hospital and I have to say I was impressed. Everything looked modern and new. Because Alex is the gamma, he lives at the pack house with the Alpha and the beta. He also mentioned the local college that I would be going to. I would need to get a car for traveling there. I didn't fancy taking the bus or making aunt June or uncle David take me every day. “So how about I show you the lake? We usually have bonfires there when we celebrate something or just low-key hangout.” “That sounds great. I love being outdoors.” Walking through the forest to the lake was enchanting, the trees were all green and lush, flowers spread across the floor like a meadow and the smell of the forest mixed with the flowers was lovely. “So we usually run through here when we train every morning. We do a ten-mile run before we start. You think you're up for that?” I had always wanted to train when I was younger. I didn’t like the thought of being helpless and needing to rely on someone else. “Yes! I did train before I left, you know. I’ve been training for 5 years now. I might even be able to kick your ass.” I chuckled. This made Alex laugh. “We‘ll see.” His laugh was a real hearty belly laugh now. He even grabbed a hold of his stomach, making me roll my eyes. Jerk. “So right through the bushes is the lake. It’s great for swimming in. Excuse me for a moment.” Alex reached for his phone from his pocket and answered. “Hello…… yeah ok hang on a moment.” he moved the phone away from his face and looked at me. “Alisa, I need to take this. My appointment is soon as well. If you wanna go have a quick look then we will head back,” “Ok,” I walked away but could still hear Alex talking on the phone. “No, that's my cousin, sweet cheeks. I told you about her last night.” I rolled my eyes at him. I can see why aunt June gets frustrated with him now. I walked through the bushes and saw the lake. It was beautiful and crystal clear, there was even a small waterfall. Surrounding the lake were bushes and wildflowers, but it had a huge open space, perfect for bonfires. A little further back was the tree line. The trees were tall and thick. It was like a little piece of paradise here. As I walked toward the lake, I brushed past some dandelions, making the seeds float off into the air. I sat down and dipped my hand into the water. It was refreshingly cold, especially in the hot weather. I dipped my hand into the cold pool of water and dabbed my neck, cooling me down, then I ran my hands along the surface of the water, going back and forth, making small ripples. The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end. It felt like I was being watched. I looked around the area, but I couldn't see anyone. “Alisa, Alisa, come on. I need to go!” Alex shouts out to me. “I’m coming. Give me a sec!” I glance around again, unable to shake the feeling of being watched. If I had my wolf maybe I would have seen something. “Alisa, I swear to the goddess if I’m late!” “I’m coming now!” I shouted back. I stood up and wiped my hand on my shorts, and walked back the way I came. “Sorry, I'll bring you back, I promise. Hey, I know! We will have a bonfire tonight. You can get to meet everyone here that way and have fun at the same time. I think there are actually a few people your age that are going to the same college as you, you can make some new friends and everyone else can get to know the cool new chick.” he said with a wink. “That sounds fantastic, actually. I’m in.”
