Cam POV
*Hey man, do you think we could have a welcome bonfire for Alisa tonight down by the lake?* Alex asked through the mind link whilst I was still standing, looking at the empty spot my mate was just in.
It took me a moment to register he was talking to me though.
My mind was racing with the thought of my mate.
*Yeah. Sure, that sounds like a great idea Al.*
*Cool thanks man I’ll see you later on then by the lake.*
*Ok Al see you then.*
Mason was still standing beside me. I looked over at him, trying to be as aloof as I could manage.
“Alex just asked if we want to go to a bonfire later to welcome Alisa,” I casually told him.
“Ok. Are we going to talk about what just happened?”
“What’s to talk about?”
I wasn’t deliberately keeping this from my best friend. I just wasn't sure how I should proceed with this.
I didn’t want to scare her off, being my Luna wasn’t exactly an easy task, looking after over 800 wolves was no walk in the park, and if I remember correctly when Alex asked about her staying here he said she doesn’t get her wolf until after she started college and that her parents would be flying over to be here with her.
Plus, I had to get rid of Leah, which was going to be a headache all on its own.
“What’s to talk about? Seriously? You looked like you were about to eat one of your best friend's cousins just a few seconds ago. How about we talk about that?”
“Fûck off mason!”
“Well, whatever that was, you need to sort your shít out!”
Only a few people could talk to me like that and Mason was luckily one of them. Anyone else and I would snap their necks for disrespecting me like that.
“Look man, I’m sorry I was just shocked at seeing her, that’s all,” I admitted. It was true. It was a shock seeing the most beautiful woman in existence sitting running her hand through the lake of my territory.
Mason started to walk away, mumbling to himself and shaking his head.
“Whatever man.” I heard him shout.
Shít, I shouldn’t be keeping this from my beta and especially not from my best friend.
“Mason, wait!” I jogged over. “I think she’s my mate but with all the shít going on with Leah, I need to sort that out first, plus she’s not even 18 yet. I think I need to sort my shít out first like you said then go from there.”
“Really? That’s fantastic. I’m so happy for you."
“Stop! I don’t want anyone to know yet. Leah is not the stablest person out there. If she finds out, I don’t know what she’ll do. I need to end things with her first. What if she’s not interested in me? She's from England. She might not want to stay here.”
“She will so stop overthinking it. It’s a good idea though. You concentrate on dumping Leah before she gets her wolf and I’ll keep an eye on her. Don’t worry, I’m sure Alex won’t let her out of his sight. She's a beautiful girl. I’m sure she’s gonna have guys all over her and he won’t like that.”
A loud growl erupted from my chest.
“Sorry, I won’t mention your mate and other men in the same sentence again.”
Mason held his hands up in defense, but snickered.
“Me and my wolf would both appreciate that”
He slapped me on the back
“Come on, let’s get you free of the crazy and to your mate. Tonight is gonna be fun.”
