Chapter 9••The walk home

2038 Words
Alisa POV “That was so intense,” Jordyn whispered to me as I got close to her. “What do you mean?” I’m trying to act coy. The look I got from Alpha Cameron was extremely intense. The way his eyes bore into me made my knees turn to jelly. I could feel myself drifting toward him, wanting to reach out and touch him. Feel his skin against my own. “I’ve never seen the Alpha look at someone the way he was looking at you!” She was shaking her head side to side whilst she spoke, her eyebrows both raised as if she was in disbelief. I catch myself looking over at him. He seems to be in a heated conversation with Shaun. “Don’t be silly. I’ve known the Alpha my whole life.” I try to brush it off. I can’t stop thinking about the way he looked at me though. That one look did something to me. My stomach has been doing flips since I first saw him across the lake. “Yeah, I’m sure that’s it,” she smirked. “I’m gonna go mingle some more. You wanna come with?” I asked Jordyn. Change of subject, good move Alisa. “No, I’m gonna go talk to your cousin. I wanna talk training techniques and he’s the man I need to talk to,” she blushed and giggled like a school kid. “Yeah, I’m sure that’s why you're going to talk to him.” I raised an eyebrow at her and pointed my lips in an I know what you really want face. She scoffed then walked away with her shoulders back and head held high. A woman on a mission. She is definitely going to be a very good friend, I can tell already. Walking around the bonfire was fun. I got to introduce myself to quite a few pack members. They all seemed so friendly and very welcoming. I had just finished talking to a newly mated couple and was making my way over to get a drink. Someone thought it would be a great idea to put the drinks all the way over in the bushes nowhere near the bonfire when someone grabbed my hand and spun me around. Pulling me too close for comfort to himself. “Hey, you look tasty.” Ewww slim ball alert. “Get the fûck off me!” I pulled my hand free and pushed him back, but he grabbed me by my waist and pulled me into him, pressing his crotch into me. I felt the bile rising. “Let’s get to know each other better.” He was leaning into my face, his breath stinging my eyes. “Get off me!” This fûcktard just doesn’t understand no. I pushed him away with as much strength as I could and pulled my hand back ready to punch this díck when a loud growl vibrated around us, the trees and bushes all shook around us, the forest went silent not a sound could be heard, it must be Alex he must have seen what was going on. “You heard the lady get the fûck off her. NOW!!!” Fûck it was Alpha Cameron, great now he’s gonna think I’m some weak and feeble woman who needs a man to rescue her, although if he was my knight in shining armor I would be very happy, maybe without the armor though that man should be topless all the time. Damn it! Focus Alisa. “Forgive me Alpha.” His head dropped down as he groveled for forgiveness. “It’s not me you need to apologize to.” The Alpha’s words sounded cold and harsh. I felt the chill myself. “Of course Alpha.” He turned to me, his eyes pleading with me to forgive him. “Sorry, I won’t do that again.” Before I could say anything to the jerk, Alpha Cameron did. “If you ever touch her again.” he abruptly stopped and clenched his jaw. “Or any other women that way again without their consent. I will cut your hands off so that you can’t touch anyone ever again. Do you understand me?” He growled out through his teeth. “Yes Alpha,” He was shaking, poor bastárd. I didn’t feel sorry for him, though he deserved to be scared shítless. “Get out of here now!” Alpha Cameron ground out. He scampered away, leaving me standing alone with Alpha Cameron. He just stood there looking at me. The silence was deafening. I should say something. “Are you ok?” He asked first, breaking the silence. His voice was so smooth and deep that it made my insides clench with want. I felt relieved that he had made the move to talk first. I was struggling to even think of what to say to him. “Yes Alpha, you didn’t have to do that though. I could have handled him.” “I don’t doubt that, but you're mine,” Ahem “my guest and I want you to feel at home here while you stay with us, plus… your cousin wouldn’t like it if I let some creep rub up on you like that.” “Oh, I see…..you're afraid my cousin will kick your ass if something happens to me.” Shít what was I doing teasing the fûcking Alpha? He let out a loud laugh that warmed my soul. Thank the goddess he didn’t take offense. “Yes, he would kick my ass if something happened to you and I didn’t stop it, but it would kill me more if something happened to you.” He was so handsome, I could sit and listen to his voice all day. I really need to get a grip. I can't keep staring at him like a love-sick girl. “Would you like a drink?” He asked me while pointing to the cooler with drinks in behind me. “Thank you, Alpha. But I think I should go back home. It’s been quite an eventful night already.” “I'll walk you.” I was about to decline his offer when he spoke again. “I won’t take no for an answer!” well so much for declining, like I cared about declining his offer, I would let this man do anything he pleases with me. We started to walk back through the forest to my aunt and uncle's home. I thought it would be weird and awkward walking alone with the hottest Alpha to ever grace this planet, damn it! I really need to stop. “Are you ok? You seem distracted” shít he knows I’m drooling over him. “I’m fine, still a little jet-lagged.” I lied, hoping he bought that. We fell into another comfortable silence but I couldn’t stop myself from looking at him. I hope he didn’t notice. He turned to me and flashed me the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen and my heart stopped. I felt myself falling, no not in love. Down to the ground, in my lustful daze, I didn’t notice the tree root sticking up slightly out of the ground and tripped over it like the klutz I am and in front of the sexiest man in the world. I closed my eyes and held my hands out in front of me to lessen the impact and protect my face, but I never hit the ground. Instead, I was grabbed by my arm and pulled up into the Alpha's arms. He had caught me and stopped me from falling. “Are you ok?” He whispered to me. He put his nose into my hair and inhaled deeply, and my goddess, it went straight to my core. All I could do was nod my head, it felt so nice to be so close to him and boy does he smell good it’s like the ocean and home, my body was on autopilot, before I even knew what I was doing my head rested on his rock solid chest, at this moment in time the world was perfect. I could feel his chest rumbling underneath my cheek from the chuckle that escaped his mouth. That did it, that pulled me out of my trance. I pulled away from him so fast I swear I gave myself whiplash. “I’m so sorry Alpha, I don’t know what came over me.” Oh goddess, he’s gonna think I’m a crazy chick now. “Cam,” He whispered softly. “Pardon?” “It's not Alpha, you can call me Cam.” he flashed that killer smile again, the smile that made me fall. “I can’t call you that. It’s disrespectful!” I mumbled. “Not if I ask you to call me Cam, it’s not. You are the one person I want to hear my name said, the sound of it from your lips.” He was looking directly into my eyes as he spoke. I couldn’t breathe. I interrupted him quickly “It’s just my accent.” I’m blushing like a sinner in church at the moment. Thank the goddess it’s dark. “Well, your accent is a major factor in it, yes…… but coming from you, it means so much more.” What the hell does that mean? Alpha Cameron has said a couple of confusing things tonight, but I’m probably just overthinking everything. Being near him messes with my head, so I’m probably taking an innocent comment to mean something it doesn’t. “Come. Let’s get you home and safely into bed” He loosened his hold on my body but took my hand in his as he led me out of the forest. All the way back home he didn’t let go of my hand, it felt like it fit into his hand perfectly, like it was always meant to be in his hand, every so often he would run his thumb over my knuckles making me shiver with pleasure at the contact with him. I wished we lived further away so that I could hold on to him longer, but nope, the universe is against me. Before we reached the front door, he turned me to look at him. He brushed his fingers across my cheek so softly it sent tingles up my spine. His eyes danced with mischief. He leaned in closer to me, his lips so close to mine, my eyes fluttered closed as I waited for his lips to touch mine. “Have a good sleep.” He whispered into my lips, his breath fanning against my face. What? I opened my eyes just as he knocked on the door and stepped away from me. My body instantly felt cold. I wrapped my arms around myself, trying to warm myself up. The door opened and Uncle David stood there. He looked at me, then at Cam. I look like I’ve been caught doing something with the way I’m standing, hugging myself like the Alpha has had to tell me off and then bring me home so my uncle can do the same. “Is everything ok Cam? Has Alisa done something?” He looked annoyed with me. Shít. “Yes David, everything is perfect. I just wanted to make sure this little jewel got home safe and sound. There are beasts in these woods.” He chuckled, and Uncle David smiled at his joke. “Thank you, Cam, it's appreciated. Did your cousins have no sense to bring you home?” He looked at me, still mad but not with me anymore. “I didn’t mind bringing her home. I will sleep better tonight knowing she’s safely tucked in bed.” My uncle's gaze snapped to Cam. “Well, thank you very much, Cam. Come on in Pumpkin, your Aunt has made some hot chocolate. If you hurry she might have some left.” I turned to Cam and smiled softly at him. “Goodnight Cam, and thank you.” I bowed my head to him and walked inside. “Goodnight Cameron,” Uncle David said before shutting the front door.
