Chapter 13

1290 Words
Cain's POV " I need you to go through the various designs before we present them again to the board" "Right away sir," she said a smile forming on her face. It felt good having Millers around, I can't believe she made me go all the way to church just to promise before the Lord that I would respect her. Well she had a very interesting family, starting from a very complicated teenage brother who tried to threaten me with a toy gun, it was amusing infact. Then her other brother who couldn't get his eyes off my car and finally her mother who made sure that I would carry her chicken casserole home. Even as I sat at my desk, signing some documents my mind couldn't help but drift to Emma. Her name also added some tune in my mind. I looked through the thin glass that separated my office and her little work space. She looked so beautiful as her hair often got in the way of what she was assessing in the laptop. Shoot! What was going on with me? She's the same Emma Millers that I despise, the same one who deceived her way through dad's mind. I stood walking around my office as I tried to think. But why did I constantly keep thinking about her? Her face kept on clouding my mind....... I turned my focus on the huge billboard outside my glass window. The hot model in a skimpy bikini winking at me, I assessed her curves and the small tattoo on her arm then went back to her face. I was surprised to see Millers' face on the billboard. Damn! I must be hallucinating..... "Sir, I'm off for my break. Can I get you anything?"she barged in, my thoughts turned back to the woman who smiled at me. "Nothing I'm good," I said pretending to be busy. ********************** "Is she back yet?" I asked David looking over at Millers' empty desk. "Sir she's been gone for five minutes. Let her enjoy her break" Right, five minutes? It felt like she's been gone for centuries. I needed her to say the least for work that is, nothing more...... Should I call her? I needed to know what took her too long after impatiently waiting for those fifteen more minutes to be over I called her, Hello Millers... Sir? Sir...... mmmh so good, I want more....Xander .....not so fast...I'm gonna.... Millers? Millers? Emma? What's going on? Then the call disconnected. Xander? Alexander? Damn it! What was she doing with him? How was he here in Manhattan? Just the thought of what Emma implied made me crazy... Not so fast? I want more? Emma's POV I walked over to Jada's coffee shop from Power Corp. Since I was familiar with the place I had to greet my now turned friend Lisa then Jada who wouldn't stop praising Ace. After Cain supposedly wanted me back, I couldn't just leave Jada's place so I offered Ace as my replacement. He was now a waiter in Jada's place and he looked cute in that little outfit. I sat on my favorite table waiting for my expresso. "Is this sit taken?" I looked up at the man slyly smiling at me. Alexander? What was he doing here? "Um..yes I mean no. I mean what are you doing here?" I asked scooting over to give him some room. He sat down across where I was seated, putting down a black box beside him. Seeing him again made my heart flutter, something about how his eyes glittered everytime we talked made me feel all giddy. He removed his coat revealing the white shirt that had clung to his body. Gosh! I pretended to look away so that he wouldn't get a glimpse of me checking him out. I looked at his eyes which gleamed against the morning sunlight. Our silence was interrupted when Ace came to take his order. "Sir, can I get you anything?" "Umm... I'll have whatever she is having",he said his eyes still on me. "Ok?" Ace said awkwardly before he left. "You really don't know how to quit, do you Alexander? I thought I made it clear for you to stay away from me" I glanced at him waiting for him to stand up and walk away. He smiled," Is that how you greet your friends, Emma?" "Friends? The kinda friend that runs you over? That friend?" "Hey I thought we already made amends,"he pouted his lips which were so appealingly gorgeous. "Right!" I smiled slyly. His presence affected me greatly, it was like seeing a hot, shirtless Chris Evans talking to me. We talked for a while and I got to know him better. Turns out he was a greatly talented architect, he even showed me his bridge and building designs. Well I must say he had raw talent and passion for what he did. His main reason for coming to Manhattan was to present his designs to a certain business corporation. Would it be dumb if for a moment I seriously thought that he had pursued me all the way from New Zealand. We talked about our hobbies, our goals in life and turns out we had the same taste in everything. He was like my other half... "Well it's been quite a pleasure talking to you again, Xander but my twenty minute break is over," I said taking out some fifty bucks for the Expresso. " Stay! I'm sure little Cain won't mind besides I didn't buy all these for nothing," he smiled pulling up the black box from earlier and gently opening it's cap. The aroma of chocolate hit my nostrils, but not the regular kind of chocolate. There was something to it, like a mixture of both vanilla extract and chocolate. The chocolate coated muffins were neatly encased in the little box, as black choco chips were beautifully smeared on top. "Well I suppose I could taste one,"I said as I watched him remove one muffin and handing it to me. I don't know how many more muffins i could stuff my face with. They were so damn delicious especially the chocolate which stuck to my fingers as I licked it like a ten year old. Xander also ate some but his main goal was taking pictures of me as I licked the chocolate. Unfortunately my moment was short-lived when my boss called. I picked up the call but the sticky chocolate made my hands slippery leading to my phone accidentally falling beneath our table. Xander convincing me that the call wasn't that important continued to put more muffins in my mouth. "Mmmh so good. I want more Xander," I said as he lightly chuckled stuffing my mouth with the last muffin. "Not so fast. I'm gonna puke already," I said wiping the chocolate off the corners of my mouth with a napkin. It took awhile before I realized that my boss called and to more lighter matters I ignored it! Holy moly I'm sure he was fuming mad by now. I looked for my phone down the table as Xander helped me. Our heads bumped into each other and I jerked up, his face so close to mine. Our eyes held, my heart thumped, my lips trembled as his minty fresh breathe lingered in my nostrils and for the briefest moments it was like we were alone in our own little world. "Em!" Ace snapped. ◖⚆ᴥ⚆◗◖⚆ᴥ⚆◗◖⚆ᴥ⚆◗ Took long to update but here is another chapter✨ I have to admit I really struggled writing this so if there are any grammatical errors, point them out? English is my third language so bear with me??
