Chapter 12

Emma's POV

I walked down the street as the wind howled my dress from side to side. Today went on well, I mean working as a waitress wasn't as bad as Ace made it to be. For the first time in forever I could say that I was actually happy with my new job. Sure it didn't pay much but my co- waitresses were so supportive and Jada well she was the kindest boss I had met.

I took a corner down the dark alley now approaching our neighborhood. Home at last! I reached for our door not missing the familiar Bugatti Veyron parked across the street. My mood suddenly changed, I thought I had made it clear to him the other day.

Opening the door and hunging my old black trench coat on the rack, I heard Ace's voice from across the living room.

"Yeah I'm a master of ninjutsu and karate! Believe me this pistol could blow your brains out in an instant, yeah this baby is a lethal weapon and i won't hesitate to use it."

I now approached the living room to find Ace seated on mum's arm chair while my ex boss, Cain seated on the couch across the room. Ace held a gun in his hand, a black toy gun in fact pointed at Cain's direction.....

"What's going on here, Ace? And why do you have John's toy gun with you?" I asked, Ace changing his expression as if I had just ruined one of his special moments.

"Em, he came here to see you. Well, we were just getting to know each other a little bit, isn't it Mr Powers?" He asked now looking at Cain, who might I say looked dashing in the simple polo shirt that was now covered with his black velvet jacket pairing it up with the faded blue jeans.

"Yes," he said nodding to what Ace was mumbling about.

After some brief moment of silence, Ace left making up some excuse of checking up on mum.

"What are you doing here, Cain?" I asked him now aware that for the first time in a normal conversation, I didn't call him 'sir'.

"You perfectly know what I'm doing here, so let's cut to the chase. I want you back!,"

Now he wanted me back! He finally figured it out that he couldn't live without me in Power Corp. Was I happy? Hell yeah I was! This was the second time he showed up here even after lashing out at him the other day.But still I couldn't go back, he'd treat me like trash once again instead of acknowledging how valuable I was to his company.

"No,"I said sharply setting myself on the couch across him.

"No? No?! What do you want? I'll double your salary...I'll promote you to senior secretary if that's even a thing!," he insisted, his tone suggesting how desperate he was but why? Why the sudden change of heart?

"See that's the thing, money, money. I don't need your money! All I want is respect, Cain! Respect! If that word is even in your dictionary," i said, his eyes narrowed into slits before he cleared his throat to speak.

"Respect? Is that all? Why should you complain about respect? Do you respect me as your boss, in the first place?," He asked focusing his gazing blue eyes on me.

"Well...,"I stattered. His deep blue eyes made it hard for me to answer, this was a first seeing him up close. His perfectly chiseled face, his hair neatly combed back...ooh gosh! What was happening?

"A simple yes or no will do, Millers!"

"Yes, I do!" I said curtly not missing the hint of amusement written all over his face.

"Really now? It's funny how you say a firm 'yes' but the reality is you don't! Aren't you the one who has made me famous by calling me that stupid nickname?,"he asked his hand now covering his face a smirk forming.

I didn't quite get what he meant in all my years of working for him, I've been respectful no questions asked!

"What do you mean, Cain?"

"Okay then... Grumpy CEO does it ring a bell?"he asked gleefully.

"That was a mistake on my part but I never went by telling everyone to call you that!,"

"Enough of this! Respect is all you want, fine...You got it! Respect you shall have..It's settled... tommorow you shall resume to your work," he said now getting up from the couch and straightening his jacket.

"Not so fast! I have one more condition..."
