Chapter 4:Madalyn's Secret

It was the day after Catalina's birth day celebration, she was finally peacefully sound asleep. When she heard a knock at the door, and the door began to open. "Catalina?" Her father called out. Catalina sat up in her bed and her face was puffy and swollen as her eyes were pink and filled with tears. "My sweet child, your breaking my heart." Her father added. "Daddy, why was I born like this!" She cried out. Benjamin looked at his daughter as his heart begin to ache, he had no idea she was hurting all this time. "Catalina there's another gift that you haven't gotten yet." He softly spoke up. Catalina suddenly looked at her father confusion written across her face. "I don't understand what you mean father?" She replied. "Its from..." He stopped. "It's from who?" She uttered. "It's from y-your mother." He stuttered. Catalinas eyes grew wide and she was suddenly filled with excitement. "What do you mean it's from mom? She planned a birthday gift for me years ago? But I don't understand,how come you never told me? Was it a secret? Did she ask you to wait? Were you in on the gift? Daddy please answer my questions!" She excitedly spat out" Benjamin chuckled to himself as he stared at his daughter beaming from ear to ear. "If you give me a chance I'll explain everything." He replied.

Catalina layed back onto her father's lap as he began to stroke the knots out of her tangled hair. "What I'm about to say is gonna be a shock to you,but i need you to not say anything and ask questions later, ok?" Benjamin asked. Catalina nodded her head in response. "Good, now Cat your mother wasn't like the two of us." He stopped. "She...she was a w-witch." He spat out. Catalina's eyes almost shot out of her skull as she tried to remain calm by the words that were coming out of her father's mouth. "She was a great witch but when she met me we fell in love, her parents wanted her to marry the head wizard to create pure bloods. But she gave it all up to be with me, she was special and kind- always thinking of others. When you were two you showed signs of being a witch so we decided to give you very special gift when you turned 1 and 6. But when Madalyn died I believed magic to be the cause and I decided it would be safer to keep you away from It all. But Tina made me realize keeping you from who you are was hurting you rather than making you happy." He paused. Catalina tried to keep all of her thoughts at bay as he went on, she remembered how her mother died and she knew that was why her father hated magic. But she had know idea that all this time she herself was a Witch! "That's why I've decided starting Monday of next week, you will be joining the others at Magestia High." He finally stopped. Catalina shot up off the bed her mouth gaping.

"I'm going to Magestia High, me Catalina A'mari Moon. Me- the human.. i-i mean I'm a witch. I can't believe this, this is all I've ever wanted. thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you daddy!" She squealed. Benjamin smiled as he replied "Thank you mother it was her idea." He kissed her on her head leaving her bed chambers so she could settle her thoughts. Catalina stood still in the room her puffy eyes swollen and her fair skinned cheeks pink, she looked out the window and her brain was swarmed with ramblings. But none of that mattered the most important thing was that she was a witch and would be attending Magestia High the place filled with only magical beings. She could finally turn her life around and everyone would know the name Catalina A'mari Moon.

She had been dunking her face in ice baths to get the swelling down, and she had even sent Tina to get her new clothes for the semester. But she was worried about most was fitting in, she had just learned she was magic and had no idea what was in store for her. Her father had bid goodbye as he went on yet another voyage for his work but he had informed her he would be back before she left for school. And as Catalina is now a adult she is entitled to her freedom, so she decided to head out to a small pub open to all magic beings only. As she reached her destination she was stopped by a gentleman blocking the entrance. "Who are you? I've never seen you before." He asked. "I'm Catalina." She replied. "So what, witch's and wizards only." He said in a annoyed tone. "I am a witch." Catalina replied cheerfully. It was her first time announcing it. "Alright then if your a witch then go right in but if your not the door won't open." He scoffed. Catalina grew weary, what if the doors didn't open because she's only half or worse what if her father had lied or was mistaken. "Go on then." He yelled. Catalina swallowed hard trying to get rid of the lump in her throat. Before pulling onto the door and with a quick swoosh the door opened. Catalina was astonished as she smiled at the man sneeringly. He smiled "Well off you go." He spoke. And just like that Catalina went right on in.

The pub was bigger on the inside than the out and it reeked of beer but the people inside were as cheery as ever. She walked over to the bar and took a seat, and suddenly the bartender begin to walk her way. "What are you having?" He asked. Catalina had never drunk before she had no idea whatsoever what to say. She smiled before replying "I'll have whatever you're recommending." The bartender smiled as he began to mix drinks together before handing it to her. Catalina took the drink before downing it and instantly the bitter yet sour taste hit the back of her throat, and she felt sick to her stomach. "That's the witch's curse." The bartender said as he laughed hysterically "An I've never seen someone down it like that before!" He added. Catalina tried to hold back her gagging but just as she was about to hurl, a hand began rubbing onto her back before asking the bartender for a glass of water. As the bartender slid the glass her way she immediately picked it up and begin to drink. "Your supposed to sip the witch's curse, but you should've never given it to her knowing she's a noob." He scolded the bartender. "I'm Will, and you?" He asked. Catalina smiled before glancing in his direction he was a very attractive young man. He had dark brown hair that was slicked back, his eyes were a golden brown and he had full lips. His body was slim yet long and he had beautifully tanned skin. Catalina almost choked before muttering out the words "Catalina, but friends call me Cat." Will smiled "beautiful." He added.

Before she knew it she had spent the entire night laughing with Will about silly things, and he assisted on getting her home safely. She went up stairs to her room and layed down on the bed, she had never been drunk before and she didn't really like it but she couldn't get the butterflies out of her stomach from talking to Will and she hoped he would be at Magestia High. Finally the time had come for her to pack up and head to the school dorms, her father had returned that morning and he had gave her the biggest goodbye hug ever. She also hugged the crying Tina, and went on her way. She was gonna rock it not only for herself but for her mom as well.
