Chapter 11: The Trojan Horse

Leviathan’s P.O.V. My minions have not returned however, Mervina confirmed that the task was executed accordingly and now the parasite is dying. Now it’s time to move on to part two, be the hero. Being alive for as long as I have not many things can excite me. But something about this new development has me enlivened. In my true form I waited patiently at the outside of the gates where I knew Tyde would soon emerge with the corpse of her beloved parasite and right on queue there she was. Cautiously I followed her to the city gates avoiding being seen by her or anyone else until we were approaching a cave. **** I followed the frustrated girl to a ridge on the far end of the city and after seeming broken; I decided to play the role of a passer-by to approach her. “They say the souls of those who fall into the depths of this ridge gets trapped in darkness forever.” “Hh… huh?” she replied seemingly confused. “It’s not safe being so close to the edge; the current can drag you to your death.” “Oh… OK, thank you.” She said while forcing a smile. “May I ask what has a lady out here crying on her lonesome?” “I’m not crying this is just my allergies.” She sniffled. “OK, let’s say I believe you. What then has you out here alone?” “Ah… well, I wanted a quiet place to clear my mind. What about you, why are you out here?” she replied. “I’m on my way into town. I came here for a special herb that can only be found in this region.” “A rare herb; did you find any?” she asked “I have, a life depends on it.” “If it’s that important, why are you still here? Go save the life that needs it.” She urged me caringly. “That’s the thing my lady, I’m not sure whose life I’m meant to save just yet.” “What do you mean you don’t know?” she asked “Well, I go where I’m needed my only knowledge is ailment not the ailed. I sense them so when I’m in proximity I’ll know who they are.” “You can sense ailment, so what is it you’re sensing now?” she asked “I’m sensing a weak pulse of an injured person. I’m also sensing a faint connection you share with that person. And as much as I’m saddened by your “allergies” I must find the person soon or I won’t be able to help them.” “Oh my God! Please follow me but I warn you, if you try anything I’ll rip your heart out.” She threatened. She is so adorable when she’s angry; this is going to be fun. I followed her back to the cave she was in earlier and into a room down a long corridor where she had the parasite laying on bed of sea sponges clinging on to his miserable life. I entered the room knowing I could kill both of them and leave before anyone even noticed. However, I’ve enjoyed seeing Hydra’s beautiful face and talking to the girl wasn’t half bad either. I couldn’t feel Hydra which means she isn’t her, but I was still going to enjoy myself before I completed my revenge.  **** I asked her to get me a couple of items I’d need once her friend was awake. The truth is the only thing I needed was for her to leave the room, so I could wake him without her knowing how. When she came back I had her little parasite sitting up barely conscious but that’s only because of their severed bond. His body was recovering not only from his wounds and resurrection, but also their severed bond. I’m guessing she doesn’t feel it as much as he does because he can regenerate, and she’s part dragon. The fact that they didn’t complete the mating ritual meant that the bond had no strong effects once severed. Hydra wasn’t my mate, but after centuries of being alone I stopped searching. Sometimes I wondered if I even deserved a mate, then Hydra came along. She was a true beauty and a shifter just like me. For a while she was just company, and then I grew to care for her after understanding that we both were both seen as outcasts. Hydra was the gatekeeper of hell; she was powerful with a gentle soul. But her responsibilities created a vile image of her in people’s minds, no matter how hard she worked to prove herself to the world that she didn’t choose her role, the misunderstanding still stood. I on the other hand existed and lived as I pleased. I had neither friends nor foes. My abilities to shift into monstrosities no one else could turn me into a dreaded and lonely creature, doomed to roam the earth alone for all eternity. My ability to regenerate kept me healthy and young but everyone thinks I’m immortal. By the time the parasite was fully awake, and elderly mermaid and a young warrior came into the room and looked at us confused.   Sym’s P.O.V.   Madam Ara and I spent the afternoon trying to find clues to help Tyde locate Osirin, after hectic searching we stumbled on a few possible clues and agreed to verify the possibilities. When we finally got tired of failed results after another, we agreed to go back to the cave to do further checks. Madam Ara was ahead of me but I got this strange itch in my gut that warned me something was wrong. Immediately I started to panic worrying something had happened to Tyde on her quest. I knew I shouldn’t have trusted Mica to protect her, but the stupid council and their rules. I swear if anything happens to her they will all pay, that I can promise them. When I entered the room I saw Tyde in a corner looking at Mica who was being held up by a stranger. All my senses went frantic when I saw the guy and I just lost it. There is no way I could trust him around my queen. “Who the hell are you?” I roared ready to attack.
