Chapter 3 - A Rocky Start

On the next day, Renah and her mom went for enrollment at Santo Lorenzo West.

Classes will start in the first week of August according to the school.

Renah's section is STEM-B and she has only a few days left to enjoy her vacation. She then prepared the kinds of stuff that she would need for school.

Many days and weeks passed, and schools were about to begin their 1st semester.

Renah woke up a little bit late on the first day of classes.

"Good morning mom, what time is it now?" Renah asked her mom.

"Oh, good morning, it's 6:30 am." Her mom replied.

Renah then suddenly remembered that classes would start at 7:30 am.

"What??? Why didn't you wake me up a while ago?" Renah asked her mom, dismayed.

"You're the one going to school, not me, and you should be more responsible now that you're in senior high." Her mom responded.

Renah then quickly took her bath and ate her breakfast. She got into a jeep and as she reached for her fare she realized that she had forgotten her wallet.

Renah became disappointed in herself and didn't know what to do. She then successfully got out of the jeep without being caught to pay.

She was amazed when she first saw the massive buildings of the school. She went inside and hurried to her classroom as she was running out of time.

Because the building is huge, she couldn't locate her designated classroom.

She then asked someone for some guidance.

"Um, hello? Do you know where the 11STEM-B classroom is located?"

"Oh, hello there, umm, that classroom is located on the second floor. Then, turn right and go straight until you reach the end," the mister replied.

"Oh, thank you so much for the help......batchmate," Renah responded.

"No problem and btw, I'm a teacher hehe." The teacher replied.

Renah was shocked upon hearing it and immediately felt anxious.

"Oh, I'm very sorry sir! I-I didn't realize it he-he." Renah nervously said to him.

"It's okay, perhaps, you're not the first one who has mistaken me as a student." The teacher replied.

Renah then located her classroom and sat on her seat.

As she fixed her stuff on her table, her seatmate, Josh, introduced himself to Renah.

"Hey there. I'm Josh and I'll be your seatmate for the whole 2 semesters," he said.

Josh is a tall and a bit muscular man. He is witty, talkative, not that smart, and a bit immature.

Renah was startled and didn't mind him. She just continued to fix her stuff. Josh, who was expecting a reply from Renah, felt dismayed.

All the students suddenly fixed themselves and kept quiet as a teacher walked inside their classroom.

Renah was shocked because the teacher was the one she had mistaken as a student a while ago. She quickly hid her face and felt shy.

The teacher introduced himself to the class.

"Good morning everyone, I'm Mr. Syd O. Peña and I'll be your adviser for this school year."

Mr. Peña is a short young man who is new to the school with only 1 year of experience. Despite this, he is a smart, calm, and skilled teacher.

He then told the class to introduce themselves (their name, age, hobbies, and former school).

When it's Renah's turn, she quickly becomes anxious and even stutters as she introduces herself.

"Go-Good morning everyone! I-I'm Renah M. Cru-Cruz and I'm 17 years old. My hobbies are umm, re-reading, watching, and ea-eating. I graduated from Xavier National High School."

She also avoided eye contact with Mr. Peña, who immediately recognized her face.

"You were the girl a while ago, right? Calm down. Don't worry too much about what happened a while ago hehe." Mr. Peña said.

Renah's anxiety just got worse upon hearing it.

Josh also introduced himself with confidence and ease.

He then asks Renah what happened to her with Mr. Peña out of curiosity.

"Hey, umm, Renah right? I just wanna ask, what happened to you and Mr. Peña a while ago?"

"Oh, it's none of your business and we don't even know each other," Renah replied.

Josh just kept quiet and didn't bother her again during the day.

After class, Renah went home and told her family all the things that had happened to her during dinner.

Her family didn't expect it and was shocked. At the same time, they were happy as Renah made a remarkable impression on her first day of classes.

Renah quickly fell into sleep after a long, tiring day.
