Chapter two

1003 Words
After school, I was in the library studying with Ket. She offered to keep me company, and I had a great time with her. Honestly, amongst all of us in our girl group, Ket is the most understanding, funny and just the kind of girl to talk to. Reya on the other hand is the baddy type, she talks only to us. She is aggressive, and going down that road, she earns lots of respect from people . And I wouldn't forget our vibe, Saija. Spreading joy wherever she goes. After studying, Ket and I walked home together, she told me all about this guy she's dating from Boston, her upcoming birthday party, and her plan for the next few weeks. Before I got home, we heard from Sage and discovered that she had left the city for treatment. Ket assured her that she would make sure Cade and I don't get into any fights. Sage laughed. Cade was famous for his pranks, and he was obsessed with Sage but allergic to me, like what was his deal with me anyway? I am just a normal girl with a normal life, and for some reason, that bothered him a lot. ket and I parted ways and soon I was home. When I got to class the next day, I was stunned to find Cade next to my seat. He smiled and told me that he was my new partner until Sage fully recovered. But I had gone through many of his tricks to fall for that one. I demanded him to leave rudely. Normally, Cade, spunky, always ready to tease, would have said something to get even with me. But he just smiled. "Please just sit," he requested "I've promised your best friend that I wouldn't give you a hard time while she's away." Oh, so he was using me to please Sage, so annoying. I couldn't stand him. But the classroom was occupied, even if I didn't want to, I just had to sit next to him. "Thank you. " he said. I ignored him. I thought that was it, but Cade kept bothering me as though he owed me his company. Sat with me and the girls for lunch, made sure to be in the same project group with me, and he even stayed longer to study with me in the library. I was exhausted of him forcing his way into my life. He was so annoying. One day, while I was studying in the library, I came across a certain equation in Math that had my entire head spinning. Just as I was trying my best to solve it, I felt a hand rest itself on my shoulder. It was Cade. "I can solve that for you in just seconds." he bragged. I rolled my eyes. As if. "What's up with the sneak attack?" I asked "Are you stalking me now?" "Nah, just thought I could admire your pretty face in secret." he teased. He snatched my pen and started solving the equation like it was the easiest. I watched him for a minute, so focused, he kinda looked cute. "Here you go, you can thank me later." he said. I was still staring at him. He turned to me, getting really close that I could feel his breath. Cade had every girl in our school fall for him, girls fought for him. And looking at his gorgeous blue eyes, I could tell why. But he didn't have me rapped up in a love fever yet, and I didn't make it any easier for him. "You know exactly what happens when you touch me, don't you?" I asked him "Of course." "Then get away from me." He moved a few steps back. I got back to my studies and watched him stand beside me like a bodyguard. I felt uncomfortable and asked him to leave,he didn't argue and found himself a free sit and pretended to study. After my studies, as I walked home, I couldn't help but think of how hard Cade was trying to be my friend. If he meant everything. I started to race home as a heavy rain dropped. Cade caught up with me on his motorcycle,he offered me a ride but I hesitated. "Come on, Wanda," he said "you know Sage will kill me if I leave you out here." "Fine." I got on his motorcycle, and Cade drove off like a prince who had just gotten his princess back from an evil fairy. Then the weather got worse and Cade had no choice but to pull over. We sat in a small counter beside the road. Silence fell among us. We played strangers for a while. I tried to start a conversation with him, but none came. What was there to talk about anyway? The plan was to get home safe and sound. But something about him caught my attention. Cade is usually braggy and active all the time, but he wasn't, he was low and sad looking at the rain drops hitting the ground. I comforted him about Sage thinking that he had missed her, but his response shocked me. "It's not about Sage," he said "It's about my father." For the first time in my life, I had seen Cade's gorgeous blue eyes in tears. I felt sorry for him. "What about your father?" I asked. "He was admitted to the hospital a few days ago. He is terribly ill and the doctor says there are very few chances of him getting better." My heart sank. All that time, Cade had been trying to cheer me up for what happened to Sage, and yet he was going through so much alone. I felt heart broken. "Oh, I'm so sorry Cade," I said "I had no idea." He turned away from me, pretending to hide hide his pain. Just when I was about to comfort him, the rain let up. He took me home and then left without a word. I watched in silence.
