Chapter3

Cassidy's POV As I laid at one of the rooms in the guest house, memories of what just happened refused to leave my head. Was it because he was drunk? Will he come back to his right senses on the morning? All these questions kept repeating in my head. My phone chimed and I checked to see a notification of an email from Dave. I opened my mail to find a picture of me and Nova at a resort. I gasped in shock. Ever since our last issue with Nova trying to steal Dave's father's customer base,we had stopped talking to him. Even with how many times he had tried to make us reconcile, we had never agreed. I remember going out to that resort with my friends but being with Nova didn't happen! I looked closely at the picture and it looked so real even when I knew it wasn't. How was this even done? I was the same person in that picture, my makeup, my dress, it was me. “That's it!” I shout as I looked closely at Nova's picture. It was AI generated! I had posted a picture of me and my girls by the river side when we were hugging and kissing ourselves. Someone must have edited it and made it look as if I was kissing Nova and sent it to my husband. I quickly attached the picture and sent it back to him with a caption “It's AI!” A notification popped up on my mail indicating that I had been blacklisted and can no longer send emails to him. I stood up and quickly ran to the entrance of the main house where he was but surprisingly I was blocked by the bouncers. The very ones I have been living with for over a year now. “He made it clear that he doesn't want to see you around.” One of them told me with a look of confidence written on his face. “He made a mistake ,I need to show him this!” I protested but they didn't budge. “Just let him know that I need to speak to him.” I pleaded to the head bouncer who just shrugged and went in. Shortly after, we heard a shout from Dave's room. “Send her in and lose your f*****g jobs!” He shouted. The rest of the bouncers took the cue and sent me back to the guest house. As soon as it was morning the next day, they made sure to knock on my door and fling my things out of the compound. Their loyalty to their boss was uncompromisable. It was one of the things I had admired of them. Little did I know it would soon be against me. I walked out of the house dejectedly. This was something we could solve if only he allowed us talk about it. ***Three days later*** I woke up to find myself in a strange building. I looked around and all I could see was white. White sheets, white walls, white curtains and I was wearing a white cotton pinafore. I tried to stand up but a sharp pain drew me back onto the bed. I winced at the pain and a nurse came rushing to me. Then it occured to me that I was in a hospital. The memories of my divorce came rushing into my head, causing another round of ache. “You need to lie down.” The nurse told me while reading my vitals. “Why am I here?” I asked her. “You passed out at the airport. A good Samaritan rushed you here.” She answered. Then I remembered, I had booked a flight to go back to my family at New Orleans only for me to start experiencing a weird feeling and then blacked out. A doctor walked into the room with a huge smile plastered across his face. “Madam, you're awake.” He stated softly, before picking up his stethoscope to do some checks on my pulse and heartbeat. I nodded weakly. “How are you feeling?” he asked, his voice filled with concern. “Fine. I guess.” I responded. He just smiled and continued the routine checks before nodding to confirm I was alright. “You seem stable. However we will have to run a few tests to ensure you're fully recovered before we discharge you.” He explained and I just nodded in return. “Get her some food.” He stated to the nurse before walking out of the ward. “Do you want me to get you anything else?” She asked me as she turned to leave. “Can you put on the TV at least?” I asked her. The place was already reeking of boredom, there was no way I was going to recover if all I do was just to think of Dave. “Sure.” She stated before turning on the TV and walking away to get my food. I looked at the television, it was a news talking about the industry growth and trend throughout the years. The date shown at the bottom of the screen indicated that I had been out for three days. I couldn't believe my eyes. They had promised to introduce a special guest for an interview and my mouth dropped in shock when Dave walked into the show, holding a lady as his partner. He had replaced me so quickly?! I noticed she had some familiar features, short curly blonde hair, petite stature and emerald eyes. It was his ex, Mira! So all these while I was crying my eyes out and fainting from heartbreak, he was enjoying himself with Mira. No wonder he divorced me! At that point, I made it clear to myself that I would no longer mourn our relationship or try to patch things up with him It was clear what he was doing. He and Mira must have even made the picture up just to separate the both of us. I felt aggravated that he played on my intelligence. I was going to make him pay for it!
