Dave's POV
I didn't know I cared deeply for Cassidy until she left. More accurately, until I made her sign the divorce papers and pushed her away. Strangely, I had begun to miss her presence. I met up with Mira, my ex but I couldn't get Cassidy out of my mind.
There were a lot of reasons for me to hate her. I mean, she was a w***e! She betrayed me while I was faithful to her! Still, if I had known she was carrying my child, I would never have done that.
Seeing her in the ball with a boy that looked just like me was an eye-opener for me. I was speechless. I watched her walk into the ball in a stunning black dress that complimented her porcelain skin. Holding her hand tight was my little boy. It was obvious he was mine. Anyone could easily tell.
My ego didn't let me walk up to her at first. I was stuck, watching her from afar. When our eyes met, I could feel the anger in it. There was no way she'd let me in her life again. What I did not expect was to see her jump in Nova's arms and kiss him on the cheek.
A gnawing feeling of jealousy and anger filled my senses. Here, I was missing her and there she was in my best friend's arms, being all lovey-dovey with him. When I lost it was when he carried my child. I rushed over there to take him away from that traitor of a friend. Everything that happened next was a blur to me. I desperately wanted my family back. There was no way I would sit and watch Nova take them away from me.
I pleaded with Cassidy to give me a second chance but she was still too angry with me. So much that she took our child and walked away with Nova. Due to the little chaos I made, the host of the event had some bouncers hold me back. They stopped me from going after Cassidy only for a few minutes. When I broke free of them, I quickly walked out of the party, hoping to see Cassidy and our son.
“You came too late. She has gone.” I heard the annoying familiar voice of Nova. I tried to ignore his existence but he continued speaking. “She doesn't want you, y'know. I believe the words she said was ‘you are dead to me’.” He laughed like a maniac high on drugs.
Not able to control my anger, I dragged him by the collar of his clothes and slammed him against the wall. “ Unless you want to have your tongue cut off, you better watch what you say.” I said through gritted teeth.
“Typical you.” He laughed so hard, triggering me so much I didn't know when I threw him on the ground.
“Face it, man, you've lost her. She's mine now.” He said before laughing again. This time, I didn't react. I simply adjusted my suit.
“ Only in your dreams, Nova.” I said before leaving him out there on the ground. I left the ball immediately. There was nothing for me there, especially when I had more important things to take care of.
“She's leaving tomorrow, you fool. That's how much she doesn't want you!” I heard Nova scream at me. If he was expecting me to be devastated by that information, he was mistaken. I was going to use it to my advantage.
That night, I decided that I was going to do all that it takes to get my Cassidy and our son back. First of all, I have to make sure she stays in Nashville. It would make things easier for me and I knew exactly what to do to keep her here in Nashville.
I called my lawyer and had him bring up the land ownership right I had verbally given to my former in-law, Cassidy’s grandfather for their project.
“Can we use that to stop the PayTon project?” I asked my lawyer. Now that the man was no more, I was free to falter from my promise. We didn't even sign the agreement on paper so it was easier for me to default.
“Yes, sir. But if I may ask, why do you want to? The PayTon project is already announced to officially launch in two months. Doing that means —” My lawyer was about to lecture me but I cut him off.
“ I know what it means. I pay you to work for me. It's my Interest you should be after. Not anyone else's.” I reminded him.
“ Yes, sir. I was only trying to inquire more.” My lawyer courtly said before assuring me. “ I will prepare the files and inform the PayTon group as soon as possible.”
“Yes, do that. I want it done tonight.” I instructed. I needed to make sure Cassidy didn't leave with our child. I was going to keep pestering her until she gives me a chance.
Soon, I reached my mansion. When I got out, I noticed the looks my security men gave me. My eyes narrowed as I suspected what could be going on. Angry at the possibility, I matched into my mansion and straight to my room.
Just like I had suspected, I saw a very naked Mira on my bed. She laid on it with her limb stretched out like a starfish. There was a huge artificial rose covering her p***y. The sight of her in that position upset me. Ever since Cassidy left, she had been pestering me. She later traveled after a series of warnings and threats. Just when I finally thought she was going to let me have some peace, she appeared naked on my bed.
Don't get me wrong. Mira was a beautiful lady. She was petite but had curves that could get any man's attention. Her curly blonde hair and emerald eyes were what made her so beautiful but she loved playing games!
After Cassidy left, I dated Mira and found out how devious she was. Her crazy, spontaneous nature that drove me crazy when I was a teenager was what I found myself avoiding now. As crazy as it seemed, being around Mira made me realize why I loved Cassidy.
It was just so sad that I had lost her. Not only her but my son too. Even though I've never asked her, I was sure the child with her was our child.
“What are you doing here?” I coldly asked Mira. She had jumped out of my life and traveled out as shortly as she came in. I wasn't ready to play her childish games. “Did you get bored of Paris? Leave. There is nothing for you here.”
“I understand that you're angry I left. I'm sorry. I just wasn't ready to settle down again that time. I am ready now.” She stood up to tell me. The rose covering the spot between her legs fell to the floor. She walked towards me, seductively but I wasn't moved by it.
“Leave or I'll call security.” I calmly said. She c****d her head to the side, an amused smile formed on her lips. Seeing that, I walked past her to stand close to my window. I took out my phone and called my security men. “There is an intruder in my room. “ I simply said and then hung up.
“Am I the intruder?” She asked me but I didn't bother to look at her. I simply checked my phone and waited for security to come.
“Answer me, Dave! Did you just call security on me?” She asked before she started crying her heart out. “Why? Why would you treat me like this?”
“You had better wear your clothes before they come.” Just as I say this, I heard footsteps coming close. She must have heard it too because she quickly ran into my wall in the closet.
“Where is the intruder, sir?” One of the security men asked as they searched my room.
“Inside my closet.” I told them. Without hesitation, they walked into the walk-in closet and dragged Mira out. She screamed as she trashed about.
“Let me go! Get your filthy hands off me, you idiots?” She cried.
“Next time you come here without my permission, I won't be so lenient with you.” I said before security dragged her out. Thankfully, she had her clothes on this time.
My mind was too occupied with winning back Cassidy and our child. Nothing else interested me. The following morning, I called my lawyer to see if he had done what I had asked.
“Yes, sir. The file was sent last night. You should get a response later in the day from the PayTon group. ” He assured me before I hung up. I looked forward to seeing my ex-wife again. If she thought our meeting would be a quick one or that she would be traveling anytime soon, she was mistaken.
