Saffron

"Wow. These works are amazing. Where did you get it?" nanlalaking matang tanong sa akin ni Luka, ang head supervisor ng Alta Maria Jewelry na apo ng namamayagpag na si Miss. Iwona Alta Maria.

Luka is an ultimate workaholic alpha but he knows his limit.

"From a stranger that is very interesting," sagot ko sa kanya habang nakangiti. Kahapon pa ako naghihintay sa text or tawag ni Cullen since I gave him my business card.

"Are you aware that your smile creeps me out? May magandang nangyari ba sa iyo sa Far East at mukhang napapangiti ka na lang dyan ng walang dahilan," aniya habang pinag-aaralan ang mga sample designs ni Cullen.

"It was almost boring as always plus I had to take the economy seat in my own airline but," sagot ko sa kanya na habang naaalala si Cullen. "I met a very very very interesting little omega."

"A dominant one? Well, that explains since these works are marvelous, sophisticated and yet the simplicity is undeniable," sagot niya. "As expected for a dominant," aniya pa.n

"He's not a dominant omega, dude. He's a recessive," sabi ko sa kanya na siyang nagpatingin sa kanya sa akin.

Tumaas ang isang kilay nito na halatang hindi naniniwala.

"Huh? Recessive? How sure are you? I don't believe you, Recessives are-"

"Hep!" pigil ko sa sasabihin niya sana. Luka isn't a fan of recessive and his hatred towards them increases when one of their maids who let the thieves in their house is a recessive omega. "Not all recessives are the same, Luke. This one is special," dugtong ko pa.

"O-kay. So why didn't you bring him in and do whatever you want then surrender to me? Mahirap na, sa gawa pa lang niya, sigurado akong pag-aagawan ito ng mga jewelry companies," sabi ni sa akin bago inilapag ang papel sa mesa niya. Luka hates Sage's gut since both of them have been rivals since the beginning. They had each other's neck

Sasagot na lang sana ako ng biglang tumunog ang aking personal phone. I fished it out inside my slacks pocket and checked out who's the caller.

Isang unknown number ang naka-display sa screen ng aking smart phone.

"Hello?" tanong ko sa kabilang linya.

"Hi. Remember me? Cullen? I just want to ask if you arrived safe and well uhm and I want to check about my designs?" sagot ng nasa kabilang linya.

Bigla akong nangiti sa tumawag at saka tumingin kay Luka.

"Hey, Cullen," sagot ko sa kanya. "I arrived just fine yesterday and here I am at work. So about your designs," I paused and looked at Luka whose eyes were getting bigger and signaled to me that she wanted to talk with Cullen.

"Uhm what about it? Was it rejected?" tanong ni Cullen sa kabilang linya.

"Actually-"

"Damn it Saff, let me talk to him!" sigaw ni Luka.

"Huh? Who is that?" tanong ni Cullen na halatang nagulat sa sigaw ni Luka.

"Remember the thing I told you I have a connection with? That is her. She's currently the head supervisor of Alta Maria and she was awed by your work. You can drop by their head office if you want. I can accompany you," sagot ko sa kanya.

"Erm," narinig kong sabi niya sa kabilang linya.

"Mama? Who you talk to? The stranger?" narinig kong sabi ng boses isang bata na nasa kabilang linya.

"Who stranger?" tanong pa ng isa.

"Kai saw mama talked to stranger in the eopwane when Kai, Daddy, mama and Eon came here. Stranger is like daddy," sagot nito.

"Kai baby, she's not a stranger. I told you her name, right?" sabi ni Cullen.

"Yesh mama. Kai thinks her name is Saffy? Sapai? Sappy."

"Saffron, Kai. Her name is Saffron and she is my friend," dugtong ni Cullen sa sasabihin sana ni Kai.

"But Mama," anang ibang boses. "Dada no like other you talk other alpha. Sai heard dada talk to Uncle Noor that Dada no like hear you say other alpha name. Dada angwy," anito.

Narinig kong tumawa si Cullen.

His laugh somehow like a music to my ears at hindi ko napigilan ang hindi mapangiti.

"Uhm sorry about that, Saff. I call you later kapag tulog na ang mga bata," sabi niya.

"Yeah sure. And it's okay. Call me when you're free, okay?" sabi ko sa kanya.

"Don't worry. I will," aniya bago pinatay ang tawag.

"Hmmm," sabi sa akin ni Luka habang inoobserbahan ako with her eyes squinted.

"What?" tanong ko sa kanya.

"I can see that you have crush on this omega huh?" matter of fact niyang statement. Hindi ito tanong kung hindi sinasabi niya ang nakikita niya.

Tumawa ako.

"What if I told you that I do actually like him? Is that bad?" tanong ko sa kanya.

"Well," sabi niya bago naglukipkip. "The fact that he's in Sage's den and that b***h alpha is possessive as s**t, you can't stand a chance but," dagdag pa niya.

"But what?" nanghahamon kong tanong sa kanya.

"But since you're stubborn as hell, we'll see what is gonna happen," sagot niya.

Sinuklay ko ang aking buhok gamit ang aking mga diliri.

"We're talking about real gems here, Dude," sabi ko sa kanya. "A real gem that caught my eyes and I wanted him to be mine," sabi ko pa.

"Wow. Once upon a time, you never took anything serious be it object or omegas and now? Anong nangyari sa iyo? At sa isang recessive pa? Marami namang dominant dyan," sabi niya.

"I'm not a fan of diamonds, dude. I'm a collector, remember? I collect rare gems. A gem that is worth keeping."

Napatawa ito.

"Well, whatever you say. Nakakapanibago lang. Just make sure to let me meet this omega as soon as possible, okay?" sabi niya.

"Yes. Leave it to me," sagot ko sa kanya.

Quarter to four in the afternoon ay natapos na ang meeting namon ni Luka regarding the new set of jewelry that is yet to be launched. We can't start to create the design that Cullen created unless he is with us. He can guide the maker to meet the standard of his designs.

Pagkatapos kong makapasok sa aking office na nasa pinakamataas na palapag ng building na pag-aari ng aming pamilya ay chineck ko ang mga nakabinbin na business proposals sa aking mesa. Isa-isa ko itong tinig binasa hanggang sa mahuli ng aking mga mata ang isang business proposal ni Sage. In her proposal, she's aiming to rent one of our building para sa bagong business na itatayo niya which is magiging office ng kanyang magiging empleyado.

"Wow," bulong ko sa aking sarili. "This woman knew how to handle more business than I thought," bulong ko sa.

Nakit kong last week pa pala nito pinasa sa akin and during that time, I wasn't here due to some business I had to attend. Nakalagay doon ang reason at rent na gusto nito. All I have to do is to grant it and sign.

Talk about business huh. She's fast also. But sad to say, she's going to marry an omega that has a corrupt family in business or in politics. Well, not my problem though.

As far as Cullen is concerned, I need to have him as soon as possible. Sage was giving me a warning when we looked into each other's eyes. She's very possessive even though Cullen isn't aware that Sage is still into him. Whatever the reason why those two broke up, and the way Sage held him in hands, is something I want to know.

"Sis?" tanong sa akin ni Quilan na nakatayo na pala sa aking harapan.

Nakasimangot ito at parang inis na inis.

"How did you get in?" tanong ko sa kanya.

"Hello?" exaggerated niyang sagot. "I've been calling you kanina pa. Binuksan ko ang pintuan at pumasok. Nakita kitang binabasa moniyang file ni Sage Alazmi at nakatitig ko sa picture niya. Are you into same second gender and s*x too?" aniya.

"Heck no. Ano ba iyang pinagsasabi mo?" tanong ko sa kanya at saka ibinalik ang folder ni Sage sa mga napatong sa aking table. "So what are you doing here?" tanong ko sa kanya.

Quilan is a runaway model and a dominant omega. He's been into modelling since child at hanggang ngayon ay naroon pa rin ito sa kabila ng may sarili na itong business na pinapalakad.

"Mom sent me here to ask you if you are willing to meet this omega that he wanted you to pair with," aniya.

Napabuntong-hininga ako.

"Again? Why is he so persistent?" tanong ko sa kanya.

Nagkibit-balikat ito sa akin.

"Honestly, I don't know. Basta dumaan ako kanina sa bahay at iyon agad ang kanyang isalubong sa akin dahil daw bihira kang umuwi sa bahay," sagot niya sa akin.

"Iyon na rin ang isang reason," sabi ko. "He's been bugging me about having cute grandchildren running around the house. Why doesn't he bug the first prince? Iyon naman talaga ang ultimate playboy," sabi ko pa.

"I'm talking about Aslan. Our eldest Alpha who is the crown prince now.

"Eh iyon? Mag-aasawa?" natatawang sabi ni Quilan. "He only likes to find a hole and fill it with his anaconda. No string attached. Just purely s*x. Iyan ang buhay ni Big bro," sabi pa niya.

"He could save me. I don't have any plans on meeting anyone right now. Especially that I have someone that my eyes set on," sagot ko sa kanya.

Nanlaki ang mga mata ni Quilan.

"Omg! Who? Who's this lucky omega? A dominant?" sunod-sunod niyang tanong.

"No. He is not dominant. He's a recessive and special," sagot ko sa kanya. "And his name is Cullen."
