Why Me?

Lucas Pov I'm back at the clearing. "Damn it!" Hope shouted. "Language," I saw myself as a ghost-like figure standing in front of Hope "I .. am I going crazy," she said. "No, but I'm glad I got to see you so I can say goodbye," I said. "Wait, no I don't want to say goodbye," she cried. "Darling, there is nothing I can do about that now,"  "Lucas, please stay," "Ask me again," damn I remember this now. "Please stay," "Hope," I remember. I came closer to her and placed my hand on her cheek. It felt cold like a soft breeze. "I love you," "I am so sorry," "Don't be, I'm not. I know you couldn't love me back but I did. Every damn day and I DON'T REGRET IT!" "I love you," she finally said. "Thank you," she added "I'm not going anywhere, I will always be here," and I was until I wasn't. "I know," "Is it cheating if I'm dead," "Shut up," I remember trying to kiss her but it was just like before. "You need to go back to your family," "I can't leave you, not yet," "It's now or never," he said. "I'll take you with me if you don't go." "Lucas," "Please, "I didn't want to go but I had to. She started to cry again. She needed for me to go first. I knew she couldn't walk away first. She turned around and I was gone. "WHAT THE f**k WAS THAT," I thought to myself. I tried running off again but I just kept coming back to the clearing. "This isn't funny." I ran in circles basically always coming back to the clearing. This waterfall is where Hope saw Faith and then me after we died. We always knew it was special and magical but had no idea how much. "To hell with it," I jumped in. Suddenly, it was bright, so bright I couldn't see anything ahead. I barely felt the water on my fur anymore. "Lucas," I heard someone call. I couldn't make out the voice. It's like I couldn't remember it either. "Lucas," they cried out. "HOPE!" I shouted out. "Hope is that you?" I tried running to where the voice was coming from. "Lucas," I heard again but stopped as it spoke again. "Come with me." "You want me to go with you?" No that didn't feel right. "Hope?" "Please, come. I need you. I miss you," the voice said again. "You don't need me. You have Aidan. This isn't right," I said. All of a sudden, I heard another voice, and this one I did recognize right away. "Wolf, where are you?" Elena said. "I miss you." "Elena," I rushed over to where I heard it come from. "Where are you?" "Wolf, please come back to me," she cried. "No, don't cry. I'll come back. I promise," I yelled. "Tell me where you are." I couldn't see anything but bright light. "Why me?" "Why am I going through this?" "Why can't I be happy? "Why can't I be with her?" "There is nothing more that I want than her." "Are you sure?" another voice said. "I will give you another chance but you will give up your old life completely. You won't have a pack or any ties to that life anymore. And if she doesn't choose you, there is not much I can do." "Who are you and what do you mean?" I asked. There was no one else here. "Will Elena not want me?" "I can't force her heart. She is not a wolf, like you but I have set your path alongside hers because she is the best match for you." "I want her, I want nothing else," "I know but it won't be easy," "I don't care, I want her," "Okay," the voice said. "I will send you back but if she rejects you, you will revert back into your wolf form and even I won't be able to turn you back." I felt my heart sink but I didn't care. I knew I would win her heart and if she didn't want me then I would do everything I could to let her go and see that she is happy. "You have limited time but good luck my son," she said. "So this is like a Cinderella thing," I said. "No, more like Beauty and the Beast," she replied. "Great," I said a bit annoyed. "Go now, Lucas," she said harshly. "Before I change my mind." Elena Pov "Welcome," I said. Suddenly, I saw the most beautiful pair of blue eyes I had ever seen. "Hey," his voice was so gentle but husky. All the pugs went running to our new guest. "Hey, little guys." I felt my heart pound in my chest. I felt butterflies in my stomach and I was smiling so much it hurt. "Can I get you anything?" Ken asked the gentleman. "Coffee and anything you might recommend," he said. "What you looking at there Elena?" Carmen said startling me. "Nothing," I lied. I hadn't realized I had been staring at him this long. "Hey you okay," Rachel asked. "Um yeah," I ran to the bathroom. I didn't realize I had started to cry. "What's wrong with me," I said to myself as I washed my face with cold water. I stayed in the bathroom for five minutes but then I took a deep breath and went back outside. All the pugs were still playing around this man. They never stuck to one customer for long. "Hey, can you get some of the pugs to play with the kids that just came in," Ken asked me. "Sure," I was nervous to get closer to the gentleman that was sitting by the window but I really wanted to get closer to him. "Hey, guys come here." "You don't mind if I take these two to those kids over there," I said staring right back into those blue ocean eyes. "No, but you have to take their place," he said. "I'm not a dog," I wanted to slam my hand on my forehead for saying something so stupid. "I know but I could use the company," he smiled. I think my heart melted at that moment. I took Vinny and Lovely to the kids and came back to the beautiful stranger's table. "So, I've never seen you here before. Are you new in town?" I asked trying to seem normal and not nervous at all. "Yeah, just stopping by," he said. I felt a slow tightness in my chest. "So, you don't live, you are not staying here," damn I sound worried and sad. "I am staying for a bit but I don't after that," he laughed. "My name is Lucas." "I'm Elena," I extended my hand out. He took my hand and kissed the top of it, never taking his eyes off of me. "Nice to meet you, Elena," hearing my name coming out of his mouth made my heart jump. I couldn't help but smile. "I have to get back to work," I said not wanting to move from where I was sitting. "Shame," I got up and watched as his eyes followed me to another table. This beautiful handsome blonde blue-eyed man had just stolen my heart. I could hear music in my head and in my heart. The time went by quickly and he finished his food and coffee. He stood up and all the pugs went running after him. Hell, even I wanted to run after him. They started begging and pouting. Some whimpered and some barked for him to stay. "Yes, make him stay," I thought. "Please." He looked straight at me and said "It was a pleasure. Until next time." He left and took my heart with him. "Damn girl, what was that and where can I get one?" Carmen said. "Seriously," Ken added. "Ken!" Rachel laughed. "What, he was hot and dogs love him," Ken said. "Looks like the doc has some competition now," Carmen said.
