Lucas Pov
"You look great," that asshole said to my love. She was wearing a short tight black dress and a long cream-colored cardigan with thigh-high black boots. Her hair was wavier than usual. She was radiant and perfect. She was smiling and it cut my heart like a knife.
I was so close to kissing her this morning. She was willing and open to it. I knew it, I felt it. Her boss interrupted us and I just walked off. I didn't want to go too fast or come off too strong. Leaving her was hard but watching her with him was harder.
"Thank you," she smiled again at him. They got in his car and drove into the city. I didn't want to follow them but I knew I had to.

"So, what do you think?" Calvin asked.
"This place seems nice," I answered. It was a very elegant and fancy restaurant. I mean I have only ever gone to somewhere this fancy once so I wasn't used to it. Calvin was being so sweet and making sure I was having a good time. The four-hour date was fun but it wasn't anything so special. I hated myself for thinking that. Did that make me a bad person?
Calvin dropped me off and kissed me on the cheek after he walked me to my door. I watched him go back to his car and I looked around. Hoping to see my wolf but I didn't. I don't know why but I could feel him nearby or at least it felt like he was. Maybe he was angry at me? My gran came over with some hot cocoa and we went inside my house to talk.
"How was it?" she asked.
"It was fine," I replied.
"Just fine," she raised her eyebrow. "That kiss didn't seem like just fine."
"Gran!"
"What,"
"You saw that,"
"Maybe," she grinned. "Are you still thinking about that other guy?"
"No, I mean. I don't even know Lucas," I said.
"Oh, but you can call him Lucas but you referred to Calvin as the doctor for weeks," she smirked.
"Have you ever felt a connection with someone? Like something you can't explain,"
"Is this love at first sight?" Gran questioned.
"It feels like so much more," I admitted. "I can't really know what it is but it makes me feel. It makes me feel alive."
"Oh, honey," Gran grabbed me and held me tight. "I loved your grandfather with all my heart. I would have never let him go if I had the choice. His love, his love was everything. It was the only thing that mattered and the only thing that kept me going after." She began to cry and I felt the tears build in my eyes. "He gave me everything. He was my everything. If this is how you feel then my dear Elena you have to go for it."
"But I don't even know him. And he might not even like me," I said. My gran gave me a look. I pictured the almost kiss we had. I didn't tell my gran about it but I knew she could tell there was something I was hiding.
"Don't be afraid," she held my hands and then brushed a strand of hair from my face tucking it behind my ear. "Trust your heart."
The Next Day
"Welcome," I heard the bell on the door ring. I didn't even look up but I knew it was him.
"Hello," he said. He stared at me and I looked back at him. I didn't know what to say or do. The pugs ran to him. He picked up Johnny and walked over to me.
"It's nice to see you again," he said.
"It is?" I looked away before he could answer. He took his free hand and reached for my chin. Turning my head so I could face him again.
"Yes, it is," he smiled. "Go out with me."
"What?"
"Go out with me?"
"Why?" he laughed at my response.
"Please," he used Johnny as a tool to get me to say yes. "This little guy wants you to say yes."
"But,"
"Oh come on, can't you just say yes,"
"I'm,"
"Elena," he said softly. "Don't be scared." s**t, how did he know I was scared.
"Please,"
"Okay,"
"See, that wasn't so hard," he said. "Now come."
"Wait,"
"No," he demanded. He took me over to a table by the window. He sat me down and then went to sit beside me.
"Miss, can I get two coffees," he asked Carmen.
"I should be serving you," I told him.
"Can she take a quick break?" Lucas asked Carmen.
"Yes!" Carmen shouted. I rolled my eyes.
"That's not very nice," he said as he looked back at me. I held my breath. He was very close to me.
"It's her day off tomorrow," Carmen said to Lucas. I looked at her with a semi annoyed expression. Carmen just smiled at me and walked back to the counter.
"Perfect," Lucas said. "I mean, I wish it was sooner but I can wait another day."
"Um, so," I had no words. I was so nervous.
"We can go on a picnic," he said. "I know the perfect place."
"But you aren't from here," I pointed out.
"Yes, but I have gone on a lot of walks since I have been here," he told me.
"You like going on walks?" I asked him.
"Yes, and if you have good company it makes it all that much better," he said.
"I agree," I didn't realize I had frowned.
"Don't frown, my sweet Elena," he brought his hand to my cheek and brushed his thumb on my bottom lip.
"I should get back to work," I said.
"Am I that annoying," he said.
"No, your wonderful," I said quickly not realizing what I had just said to him. He laughed softly and I just blushed while I awkwardly walked away.
"See you tomorrow,"
"Yeah," I waved him goodbye.
